Total Design

Do not use Total Design Homes. The number of mistakes made on our project was enormous. From not measuring things properly, to not checking the quality or correctness of orders, from losing materials for weeks, and a general lack of professionalism. We had custom handmade tile for the project given to us by someone, and she reassured us several times over the YEARS waiting, that there was enough. I even asked her to triple check, because we had a lot of time (years) between planning and install. When it finally came time to install, our contractor had to tell us there wasn't even enough tile to do one small area!! So we had to scramble. Our contractor also had scheduled pool tile installation, only to find out she didn't have the pool tile on hand because it had been sent back due to no where to store it. There was a complete lack of communication across all of these issues (and there were many more that are not listed here). I always had to find out from the contractor what the issues were, not from the designer. There was no timeliness or sense of urgency. She simply would be apologetic but then never followed through and then became argumentative when we would raise the concerns again. She acted like she was doing us a favor, even though she had been paid upfront for the project by the prior contractor. Do not do business with this company. You will regret it.

It was supposed to take two and a half days and took eight weeks for the job to be completed.
The only reason they finished was because we wouldn't pay them until it was done.   They filed a preliminary lien notice on our home even though we had a signed agreement (signed by both parties with all of us present) that they could run our credit card the second business day after the job was completed.  We received the notice the day before they ran our card.  Then we had to make call after call to have the preliminary lien lifted.
