Mr. Findlay missed that our hot water heater wasn't correctly vented as well as other items that were not listed in the home inspection report. Southwest Gas refused to turn on our gas. If he had caught the problem before we signed off on this house we could have asked the SELLER to replace it or even walked from the deal entirely. We just wanted the cost of the water heater reimbursed, but instead Iain Findlay washed his hands of any responsibility. He was difficult to get a hold of and offered no solution to the problem. We went days without hot water. We feel that he had absolutely no compassion for the situation and we were forced to file a complaint with the Board of Technical Registry. When we reached out to let him know that we would be filing a complaint he let us know that "this was not his first rodeo." I would encourage any potential clients to research the violations he has. He has admitted fault, and although he has refunded the actual cost of the original inspection ($400), he has yet to reimburse us the cost of the water heater. We are asking for reimbursement because its the right thing to do. It was his mistake and he admitted in the audio recording of the most recent board of technical registry meeting that he had an "off day". Understood, we all have off days, but does that mean you are not responsible for the cost that WE incurred to fix your mistake? Prior to the most recent meeting, The Inspection People took no responsibility for this over sight. He took our choices away by not catching this water heater and potentially put our family in danger. I will update this review if this matter is resolved.
