Great company that has been around a long time. Very responsive. They will fix everything and do good work. They are pricey but sometimes you get what you pay for and I think they are worth it. I've used them on and off for years.
Thinking that all they did was major repair work, since then I've used Leslie's for routine chores like cleaning out the DE filter. Recently, I had an unfortunate experience with Leslie's that caused me to decide never to use Leslie's service again. I called another company for a recent DE filter cleaning; after that outfit's serviceman was done, the filter, which optimally runs at 10 to 12 psi, was running at 20 psi. Their guy, apparently thinking old ladies are ipso facto stupid ladies, told me the filter was supposed to run at 20 psi.
So, I called Swimming Pool Service and Repair and asked if they would kindly send someone to look at the equipment and see if it was running adequately...or what. For the cost of a service call, their guy came over and checked everything out.
While he was here, I described my misadventure with Leslie's, in which their sales/service guy tried to maneuver me into buying a $1500 pump that was not needed, and I asked him what, really, is the law about the required replacement of single-cycle pool pumps, since I didn't get an explanation that made sense out of the second service company, either. He, interestingly, had been trained on the specifics of this law, and so could explain that minor repairs, such as the one mine had needed, were legal and could be done by pool technicians, but that the pump had to be replaced if the motor failed.
Hallellujah! A straight story.
Many years ago, when I was a journalist, I did a little investigative piece on the practices of local pool service companies. I happened to have a friend who worked in a pool store. He tested the water in my backyard pool and explained exactly what the chemistry was and what maintenance it needed at that time. I then took samples of water to every pool company in town. The only one that produced a report that jibed with the one I knew to be accurate was Swimming Pool Service and Repair.
Still honest after all these years!
My pool had a cracked spa wall and the chemistry was not kept up properly from the prior owners which etched the tile grout and lifted the old 3M pool finish. The pool had been repaired by another firm before I moved in. They re-glued the missing tiles with silicone, patched the crack spa wall, replaced the DE filter, replaced the spa pump under home warranty and the timer on the main pool pump. The rest of the house was in great condition but the pool was a mess.
Swimming Pool Service and another firm caught all the issues on the pool before I purchased the house so after I bought the house I got three new bids. Swimming Pool Service was not the lowest price but provided the best options. Their detail work on the tile was excellent. They rebuilt the spa wall with metal rods and cut out the cracked cement decking and resurfaced it to match the existing deck. Not only did they fix the heater that two firms said needed to be replaced they also changed out my main pump motor with an AFD and replaced the impeller instead of replacing the complete assembly like three others told me.
After the pool was refilled they spent time to go over all the repairs in detail and came back after the bill was paid to patch up a minor flaw I missed.
