"So,pleased and delighted to meet [Member Name Removed] and Mason. They are very focused, organized, asked such great questions and genuinely appreciative for the design ideas, products and services I am recommending. I really look forward to working with them more in the future!"
"I'm happy, client is happy and I think older historical "vibe" bathroom (1940's?) space is not just "new" but, pretty, light filled, pleasant and comfortable happy space. It was challenging buying "readily available" materials and fixtures to finish bathroom by the deadline but, all in all I think with client's assistance we got to a good blend of materials and fixtures. I think if owners from days gone by stepped into the room they would be pleased and approve out efforts as well! I am so grateful for great projects and clients like [Member Name Removed] and [Member Name Removed]. It is a pleasure and a joy to work with you and provide design and planning solutions you love."
I am truly happy in my home thanks to the quality of the designs, colors and finishes she selected. She was prompt for every meeting and did not unduly waste my time with unnecessary chatter.
"Thank you too, [member name removed]! The built-ins for the Lang Home Office turned out great and looks effortless though so much went into it. Thanks for hanging in there during the times when other construction work came before finishing the room built-ins. Sometimes it does seem "to take a village"!"
"Happy to follow up more in depth with this consultation so, member gets "GREAT" service. Iwill pull file and review consultation report so, I can see if I have any additional insights and input for this Angies List member! Thank you for your sincere feedback."
"I was delighted to meet this wonderful family and consult with them for their lovely home. Also, happy to follow up with them at anytime in future for any questions or assistance they require on the input I gave them. Creating home can be an ungoing process and so I'm happy to be involved as an Angie's List member lets me know! Thank you to all members for your interest and business."
"Wonderdul and exciting end results can be achieved when clients are organized, focused and have some clear goals in mind like [member name removed] and [member name removed]. It was a pleasure working on this residence. Thank you for your business."
I have to say that not only does she know what she is doing, she is also a very nice person. I had total trust in her, she was wonderful.
"Thank you for your leadership with me and my team as we negotiated design and construction for this complex and interesting project of updating 2 bathrooms with everything new in the both bathrooms and updated paint, lighting and carpentry in other areas of your very lovely, lovely home. Nothing makes me happier than when clients become excited and happy as their physical space begins its trasformation from old or plain or just "dated" to lovely and beautiful. It is a priveledge and pleasure to participate. Many thanks from me and my partner craftsmen to you, our insightful, gracious, kind, lovely client! We value the time and now the memories of our time and work in your home."
"I am rather mystified by this review. This homeowner is a DIY'er and I have consulted with many DIY'ers. It is usually an "ungoing process" though. My intent was to give the homeowner good feedback in real time as she was doing projects. She was doing the work and I understood that but, it makes it challening for me or really any designer to understand how to help a homeowner for a "quick consult" when so much is yet to be determined. I did my best though under the circumstances. I tried to leave it on terms where she could write to me and call me for feedback at NO CHARGE! I keep her file and information handy and all our correspondance accessible. If I'm doing no work and there is no specific budget or project outlined clearly and she poses no questions for me on what she is planning then I don't know how I can be anymore helpful than to share "professional advice" FREE in case she does write or call. I this guess homeowner did not believe me that "casting your bread upon the waters" is a core value for me and when I offer to stay in contact and write and chat that this is my way of doing that. However, prospective clients doubting my integrity is not my issue, it is there's. I have clients that know I am sincere about being generous with my design efforts, ideas and advice. After all, it is my favorite thing to do! To me its about the design, the process and happy homeowners first and the compliments and money will follow as the universe sees fit."
"It was a pleasure to meet and explore design ideas and options with Veronica. She was a sponge and took notes of information and ideas especially significant to her. I am happy to respond anytime by phone or email as well on any planning, design or interiors issues she may have now or anytime in the future. Thank you for an interesting and enjoyable visit!"
"Ironically enough if this homeowner wanted to "interview me only" I would have done that at "no charge"!. I showed up to problem solve. I think so much time went by from the time the member purchased the "Big Deal" until the time of our appointment that she did not remember the intention of the "Big Deal" was to assist a member with present day ungoing design solutions at a super, super GREAT cost point! I spent 2.5 hours with this client getting to know this person, discussing my services, reviewing her home's design challenges, sharing some product "cost" amounts and then followed up with a written review for sources, ideas and links related to our discussions walking through her home. I try to pack all "Big Deal" visits with lots of ideas, information, local resources and solutions because, over time that has seemed to be what many, many people enjoy. I would have loved to spend more time discussing other design projects and reviewing other design solutions but, its a fine line to draw between focusing on myself and my other client projects and providing service to a new "Big Deal" member and their immediate design concerns. I've no doubt in my mind that I could make a valuable contribution to this member's home environment if we could reach an understanding for "design processes" applicable to her situation and focus on where "value" and beauty can be created from my time and efforts on her behalf. I offered to describe in writing in proposal form a more in depth description of services that seemed appropriate but, this member wanted to wait or I assume wants to interview more designers."
"I think this member is even more unfamiliar and inexperienced with planning improvements for any kind of real estate than I thought. It seems he had very unrealistic expectations as to what information is possible with a hourly consultation. I followed very closely with him until we actually could meet up which was within a 3 week time frame of the initial discussions and conversation. I encouraged him to forward information and pictures to me but, could not really give him feedback until my actual visit to a very old and deteriorated condo he had purchased from the bank. The main problem was this client was conflicted and undecided as to whether he would live in the condo or be a landlord and rent out the condo to tenants. These are two very different scenarios for formulating a budget. I know this based on having numerous client's that are landlords. My solution for this situation was to proceed with a drawn space plan with notes as a tool for this owner to proceed with further quotes on construction work. That was the professional and correct thing to do for the situation in my experience. I spent time at the condo with the client and his mother who was also, a prospecive tenant for the space if it could be attractive and pleasant enough to suit her standards and this seemd "firm" and they made a point of being clear about this to me. I followed up in writing further with my recommendations, suggestions and ideas mentioned during our meeting and was expecting to hear a yes or no eventually from him as whether I would proceed further with more "planning on paper" or consultation to labor and construction sources he was talking to and was maybe planning to hire. I'm sorry Customer and his mother failed to see the merits of my recommendations and explanation on how I would proceed for his properites specific condition. Budget and cost seemed to be the most "sensitive" criteria and when this is the top priority above all else to a property owner, then planning must be careful and restraint exercised. Sometimes we get information that we do not want to hear and blame the bearer of the information and I believe this may be the case here. This member was not treated disrespectually though he was not understanding my view on how I would proceed with design services. He was not ignored but, treated with regard and consideration that I extend to all prospective clients. The 100.00 fee covered about 3 hours of my time ( 50.00 to me or 16.00 an hour + gas) which I cannot get back but, I'm willing to refund the money to show "goodwill" on behalf of Angie's List. The response time to this member was within the 3 week time frame that is normal and standard and the very, very first issue I clarified with this member from the beginning when I was contacted and I have the emails to confirm this. I have to admit it is disturbing and puzzling to get such a low rating and I think there must be some kind of connection to this individual's unrealistic expectations for planning construction work, resolving, the amount of money required to update the property all combined with no easy answers from me! If I told real estate oweners only what they wanted to hear and not what they need to hear in order to make good buying and purchase decisions then this would NOT be professional and probably create even greater issues further down the road. Upon my leaving a neighbor who owned a couple of other units in the same complex mentioned to me that he was puzzled that I would be visiting to consult on "interior planning" because, to his knowledge the unit purchased by this member had plumbing and flooding issues below grade and the reason why he did not buy the unit himself. Seems to me that if this is true about "plumbing and flooding issues" then the work required for this real estate is very much beyond interior design services, consultation and an interiors improvement budget!"
"Member was mostly NOT present for the 2 hour time frame I spent with Member. I'm not even sure Member read any of the follow up summary and "List of Links" I wrote specifically for them based on our meeting and their input to me or he would be aware of the time and effort I spent. After investing 4.5 hours of my time and traveling 50+ miles, I was willing to move forwad and invest more time and effort for this Angie's List member but, Member said she wished to think about my input and our discussons and would let me know if I could follow up with her with a simple proposal for professional services."
While a client makes the final decision, she demonstrates the courage to have strong views which may be different from the client, but also provides her rationale for her recommendations. Naomi was willing to work with us on our many different needs, and was understanding of our circumstances. We would recommend Naomi to others that require assistance with interior design needs.
"Thank you from one person who values "planning" to another! Thank you for validating the skills and insights that I work so hard to refine day in and day out. Its a blessing to serve people so lovely, intelligent and graceful in spirit."
"Thank you Member it was a pleasure providing design services to you especially with you being so such clear on budget and move in date goals. I loved spending time with you and seeing how we could best play up the wonderful features of your mid-century home using your wonderful art, furniture and lighting! To be continued!"
"So intriguing assisting this amazing lady. I look forward so much to more time together this fall. Your exprience, grasp of improvement challenges in front of you, your lovely things, sense of humor and sense of life have been a gift for me to experience. I wil be forwarding more information soon to this new friend!"
"Thank you to the members for their patronage and I can assure all that there will be more information and consultation available and forthcoming on this home as I finish compiling more input that I have on "main areas" and as homeowners proceed on painting and other projects. My email and my input is always available at no extra special charges on projects already started with client's that have already paid for service!"
"So unfortunate for me to have some personal complications getting information to the memberin a timely fashion! I suffered a fall and hurt my ankle and that slowed me down quite a bit on getting around, getting work done and getting source informatin I need for "ungoing projects". It is the payment of large ungoing projects that allows me to see Angie's List client's for "small consultations" for 100.00 to 300.00 which can be a challenge. I did preferance my consultation to the members with a warning that I had a very full schedule and could not respond and follow up as quickly as they may need. Sometimes life deals us challenges but, I do believe the infomation promised has been compiled and sent and there has been an email follow up. I am happy to REFUND this client's money an or provide additional service if they are interested. Sometimes a beginning with a client can be a little rocky but, that does'nt mean we can iron things out and get to some great results! Bad luck for me this summer this honestly flow over unto my consult with this client but, I'm sure I can rectify the situation if given a chance. Thanks for your honesty and consideration"
Naomi is a pro with a great eye and really listens to what you want to do with your rooms and asks good questions too.
We needed help with a mobile home we recently purchased. We had more than a few ideas for color choices and window treatments but couldn't decide where and how to start. We also wanted to rework our bathrooms. Our meeting started right on time and Naomi went through the home with us - asking focusing questions and really listening to our ideas and tastes.
Then we sat down to discuss the possibilities- narrowing down our color choices to 4 main colors (as opposed to 30-40 we liked!), window covering options, bathroom vanities, furniture changes etc. The plans we came up with were not overly expensive either. For example, for one bathroom, we didn't need a whole new vanity - a faucet and mirror change and a little paint would help create the look we wanted. The meeting is helping us to move on to the next step - from just the "thinking about it" to relaization. From "where do I start" to a more focused plan. That is wonderful for us.
My husband, who is normally not that excited about interior design, was very impressed. He appreciated Naomi's professional suggestions and opinions. Her knowledge and experience, along with her talent to match, was so helpful.
Naomi spent a full two hours+ with us. We felt the value of her service that day was probably more like $ 350/400 - The $99 was an exraordinary deal! I recomend Naomi with complete confidence and would like to use her services more extensively again in the future.
