There are surprising few contractors that specialize in Glass Block work. My sense is that it is time consuming and takes expertise. Brian Robertson is very professional, experienced, knowledgeable and easy to have around. He knocked out the existing glass block, cut away the stucco to rebuild the support for the window, installed new glass block adding side support, re-stuccoed, painted and left with the window looking better than the original. A three day project. I would highly recommend and would use again.

It was very difficult finding anyone who repairs glass block. I found Robertson Glass Block on Angie's List. I called and was called back the next day. The following day Brian came out to look at the windows in question. He told me he would be able to match the block. It took awhile to get the bid, but when I did, it was within my expectations, so I hired them to do the work. They completely replaced the window in the shower, adding waterproof backing. They took one of the blocks from the old window and used it to replace a cracked one in the larger window over the bathtub. They also regrouted the window over the bath. All in all I was very pleased with their work and definitely would hire them again.

I had a very difficult time finding a company to repair/ replace my glass block windows in Master Bath. Called a few places who no longer did anything with classic individual glass blocks. I found Robertson's Glass Block on Angie's List. My normal due diligence on a company (contractor's license, BBB, review sites) did not provide a lot of information. I needed the work done, and called the office. Brian called me within a day or two. He came out the next day to look at the job. He is extremely knowledgeable about Glass Block. He said he could match the blocks, which were originally installed in 1999. I did not receive a quote when expected, and had to follow up with emails and phone calls to get it. When I did receive the quote, I felt it was reasonable. We arranged to meet so I could get a sample block to compare it to the blocks in my windows. Perfect match. I gave him 1/2 of estimate as deposit. Originally scheduled to start on a Thursday. Brian called night before to say he was not going to be able to start until Friday. That worked okay for my schedule. Brian and another man worked very diligently from 8 am until 3 pm Friday. They protected the interior surfaces when breaking the block to replace it. They put waterproof lining around window before setting new block. Brian pointed out the rusted metal clips that were in the windows because builder did not use stainless steel ones. He replaced them. The men were unable to finish the job Friday, and returned Monday. Brian texted to let me know he was running a little late. They worked most of the day. In addition to completely replacing glass block in a 2' x 6' window in shower, after lining the window frame with waterproofing, they cut out and replaced a cracked block in a 6' x 6' window over bath. They scraped out old cracked mortar and replaced it on large window. They patched some cracks in the exterior stucco over and next to the windows. I could not have been happier with the work done by Robertson Glass Block and would definitely recommend them.

Bran promptly returned my call and scheduled an inspection of the work to be done.  He suggested a better and less expensive solution to the problem and completed the repair in a timely fashion.  The repair appears to be part of the original house.  Great job!  He is professional, honest and reliable.

Gorgeous new 4' x 6' glass block window in the shower! Brian was friendly, prompt with the estimate, performed all the work within the estimate and the time frame he outlined, and gave us good advice on materials and design.  He worked long hours and made sure everything was just right. We are very happy with the results and would definitely use him again for future projects.

Brian, arrived on time, took care to cover everything that could get dirty, and completed that job in a timely manner. The new glass blocks look great.

All in all, Brian did a great job. He is prompt and professional. The quality of his work is very good. The materials were adequately priced and of good quality. Read on if you want details. Brian showed up on time to quote the job and he had a variety of block samples in his truck to select a style and after seeing glass block selections in home improvement stores, his selection is as good if not better. He came out the next day to perform the work and did a great job with the demo of the previous window and installation of the glass block. He was very meticulous with ensuring each block was level and plum. The job took him about 10 hours to complete (7am-5pm). The finished product looks great. The room is much brighter now and there is more privacy with the translucent block verses transparent window. I would do business with him again. Also, something to consider if you are looking at replacing a window with glass block: North facing windows are the best for this type of installation. My window faces west and the bathroom does get warm in the afternoon; more so than when it was covered with a single pane of glass and shutters. When the block is shaded from the sun, it does not get as hot. Seems obvious, but the increase of 5 to 10 degrees in the bathroom after the block was installed was a bit more than I had anticipated.

The whole experience was wonderful. Lari is a joy to work with on the phone; very friendly and professional, and the window was finished within a week. There was one little hitch where the wires for our security system were accidentally buried within the sill after the glass blocks were installed, but Brian came out on a Sunday (!) to cut them out and patch everything together again. The window looks fantastic, and we were very impressed with the service.

Great experience! I had a broken pool heater than another contractor refused to repair because the building code had changed since it was installed, and the heater was too close to an open-able window. I called Robertson's on a Saturday, and to my surprise Lari answered the phone. She sent Brian over that afternoon to provide an estimate. I hired them to come out on another Saturday, two weeks later. (They could have been there in just one week, but I was out of town.) Brian and his assistant arrived on time, completed the job in less time than predicted, and left everything cleaner than when they arrived. The new window was installed with great attention to detail and looks far more professionally done than the other one that came with the house! I have no prior experience with glass block windows, and the price seemed high at first, but the end result and overall experience made it all worth it.
