Difficult to deal with. Poor quality of service. I had an appointment for service one morning. Waited the 4 hour window, and no one showed up. When I contacted customer service, they could only offer that the tech was at another job, and yes they agreed, it would have been nice for the tech to call me to say he was running late or not going to show up at all, but the only appointment they guarantee every day is the first appointment of the day. Really?

I finally got a service call 4 days later. By this point, I was just grateful to have a tech come over to see what was going on. He determined I needed new CO detectors, which is what I anticipated. Fine, but he didn't have detectors on his truck. I find it strange that knowing I had CO problems, he did bring any with him, just in case. So the tech left to go back to the office so he could get the CO detectors. He called me later that day to come back and install them. Okay, 2 visits in one day. One installed fine, the other was detective. The box looked different and very worn and wasn't sealed, so I'm wondering if it wasn't new merchandise? So then he had to come back the next day to replace the other CO detector. So in all, after waiting 4 hours one day for a service call that no-showed, I waited an additional 4 days for my service call, and it took 3 visits from the tech over 2 days to replace 2 CO detectors. The tech was very nice, and committed to fixing my problem, which I appreciated. But it was a comedy of errors that it took 3 visits over 2 days to correct a very simple problem.

Although overall the initial service was fairly good. I recently called to have an additional sensor installed and an existing one re-attached. Although I have been a customer since 2005 they would not do this without either charging me about $145 for the "service call" or "only" $70 for the new sensor (a rediculous markup). I reluctantly agreed and arranged for a service call. They were not able schedule the call until three days later. By then, I was on vacation and was told that the installer would arrive at my home between 8-12 on Monday. When 11:45 rolled around and the installer still had not shown up, I called the office, They told me that they did not have a record for my installation request. After talking with three people they would not take my concerns seriously until after they played the tape of the call!! Amazingly, they called me back and admitted that they did not know why their sales person had scheduled the install in the first place but they were willing to make it right by crediting back $50 of the $70 I had already paid for the sensor install. I again reluctantly agreed but told them I would not be signing another 3 yr contract until I was again comfortable with their level of service since as far as I could tell I would be signing on for 3 yrs worth of crappy service. They were unwilling to accept this arrangement and I told them I would be installing the old sensor myself and they could forget about the new one. In the meantime, I will be looking for a new security company and I recommend anyone considering Protection One to think twice.

The alarm system goes on any time I leave the house. I think their price is reasonable. They respond very quickly when the alarm goes off. I had one guy come out and fix things on occasions and he seemed to be fairly punctual. I would continue to use them again in the future.

We have been using their services for three years. If the alarm goes off they call us to see if it went off because of us, and if they don't get a hold of us then the call the police. This happened one time, and they did exactly what they were supposed to do. We are happy with their services.

Overall, a positive experience. It took them an extra day to complete the work and more people than originally planned, but the work was completed. In their rush to complete the installation, some testing steps were skipped, and as a result we had to have an on-call person come back late at night to fix a window contact that was nonoperational. Also, they could not get the control panel in the bedroom to work and had to disable it to allow the alarm to function. They claimed that this was a hardware problem (which is certainly possible) but the actual root cause is still to be determined (they are scheduled to come and rectify this). The best news is that they are very focused on customer satisfaction. They stayed late to ensure the remote access to the system was working and called multiple times to check in on us to ensure everything worked properly. They returned phone calls & email promptly and were especially professional and courteous.

Everything went perfectly! He came out to tell me what I needed to know, he did not try to sell me things I did not need, he said save your money and do this and this instead. He then said his installers would be out on such and such date, and they were here at that time.

It went great! John Caniglia, Res. Security Consultant came out on a Saturday to discuss the different monitoring and alarm packages they had available so I was able to select one that worked well for my family. The alarm was installed and functional by the following Wednesday afternoon.

I am very pleased with them because they do a very good job. My husband had a little smoke event a while ago with the toaster, and they called right away to make sure we were doing fine. They have never had to send the policemen or firemen to my house.

I have had only one occasion for them to dispatch the police and they did so very fast. It was a false alarm but I am glad to know they do what they are supposed too. I pay for the service yearly but I'm unsure of the total. It must be good or I would remember.

I had them install the unit 2 years ago and I have only had one problem. The circuit panel went out and the police came to my house twice in a day. They came out and fixed it the very next day. Other than that I have had no problems and would recommend them to anyone looking for an alarm company.

The sales manager had to come out to help untangle this mess! The sales person could not recognize that my "old" system was wireless even when I told her that it was wireless. Once the technician got here he started that song and dance about what was wrong. The unfortunate part is that I had the same treatment from two other companies. I thought that a smaller company would be the way to go. The technical manager Winter had to reprimand her technician at on the job. I can see that there will be problems with this outfit. I'm in the process of canceling the service. I'd rather risk losing everything than to support such poor communication and customer service. The technician started today's nightmare by talking to his supervisor Winter outside my home where the whole world could hear him discussing the configuration of my existing system and home. The salesperson, Autumn did not tell the truth. Security is so important and shouldn't be left to this kind of action and behavior.

When the new system was installed, the technician discovered what he suspected was a faulty circuit board in the new base unit;it enabled the system to work most but not ALL of the time. Because he was concerned about this, the technician ordered a new circuit board and in the meantime got the system working and showed us how to use it. When Protection One received the new circuit board, the technician set up a time with us and installed it and tested it for correct operation. The new security system has been working since that time.

I did a lot of research before deciding on an alarm company. I ultimately chose Protection One because they sell their own systems and don't contract out their monitoring service. I can call their 800 number and get somebody in my area to answer questions. They were quick to get back to me after I submitted an online request for information, and John Caniglia, the sales rep who visited, was helpful and personable. He thoroughly reviewed our situation and options, and pointed out items that would or would not be effective deterrents. The installation was lengthy, and the technician friendly, but we were awakened by false alarms two nights in a row. A visit from a 2nd technician revealed that the cellular backup system had not been installed properly, but that was quickly fixed. I have had contact with customer service and the monitoring center on a few occasions, and they are always helpful in solving any problems or answering questions.

We have been using Protection One for a couple of years, but recently, one of the techs came out and updated our system. He was very detailed, checked all of our sensors and alarms, and replaced a few defective sensors. He did a great job in making my family feel like they are protected.

Howard Angeloff (Consultant) was prompt, courteous and answered all questions thoroughly. He was patient and did not try to sell me a lot of services I didn't need. On the day of installation, the rep arrived on time, was quick and complete and left no mess behind. I was extremely pleased with their customer service and will use them in my next home.

I found Reid to be very professional and easy to deal with, as did my Mom, who is 84. Protection One has been around the Valley a long time. They are the "Old Pros" in the game. I used their services at two commercial locations for almost twenty years with no problems. I can recommend them without reservation, something rare, and I liked Reid.

EXCELLENT, THE SEVERAL TIMES WE SET OFF THE ALARM IN ERROR, THE COMPANY RESPONDED QUICKLY AND PROFESSIONALLY. BOTH TIMES WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND EACH TIME THEY WALKED US THROUGH DISARMING THE SYSTEM AND RESETTING. THEY SCHEDULED FOLLOW UP VISITS BY TECHS WITHIN ONE TO TWO DAYS TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS ALL RIGHT.

THE ONE SERVICE CALL I NEEDED (TO REPLACE THE BACK-UP BATTERY FOR THE ALARM SYSTEM) WAS HANDLED VERY QUICKLY. I OCCASIONALLY HAVE BY MISTAKE ENTERED SOMETHING INTO THE KEYPAD THAT EITHER SET THINGS OFF, OR CREATED A PROBLEM.
