Horrible service - I overpaid ($180 / week) hoping for better service, they don't show up, minimal chemicals, and can't get ahold of anyone. I just went on vacation nobody showed up for 3 weeks for my "weekly" service and came back to a green pool. My only regret is I can't get ahold of them to fire them in person. As many said in these comments DO NOT USE!

PLEAST DO NOT USE POOLMAN!!!! BUYER BEWARE, HORRIBLE POOL SERVICE, LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE, YOU CAN NEVER GET A PERSON ON THE PHONE TO RESOLVE ISSUES, VERY SLOW RESPONSE TIME TO REPAIRS, THEY LOSE KEYS TO YOUR BACKYARD OFTEN, WAY OVER PRICED FOR WHAT YOU RECIEVE!!!! I have been a Poolman customer for 10+ years. I would have given them Zero stars if that was an option. They started out great but the past 18 months we have had the worst experience ever (just like many others). We get emails stating the services was completed when we know it wasn't because the tech cannot get into our backyard because Poolman has lost the key to our gate for the 6th time and I refuse to pay for another lock for their convivence. In addition, there are no tabs added to the floater and our cameras show no one in our backyard. Not to mention I received a phone call from the tech this past Friday letting me know he could not get in to service the pool and I would need to call to reschedule, but we received yet another email that stated the services was completed, and he added three tabs to the floater, which was empty when I got home Friday night. We also signed off on a check valve replacement and paid for it 3 weeks ago and it is still not replaced so our spa does not work. The Tech told me 2 weeks ago that the part was in so I should be receiving a call to schedule the repair but so far nothing. I could go on and on with the issues we have been having with Poolman but I don't have enough time in the day. I am writing this review as I wait on hold to speak with someone so far I have been on hold for 27 minutes, no option to leave a message or a call back, just music. I bet they will be quick to respond when I ask to cancel my service! Please DO NOT USE Poolman, WORST service ever!!!

This is the worst pool service company in Arizona I had them for two years and over the course of the two years they showed up 30% of the time. They always have an excuse as to why they can’t come one month even missed 3 weeks in a row and still charged me for the whole month. When they did show up the guy would be there for 5 minutes tops. I also leased a salt cell from them and part of the lease included cleaning the salt cell. They never cleaned it once. I had them replace some electronic valves and they did a horrible job with the wiring included are pictures of the salt cell and wiring. DON’T USE THIS COMPANY……

This company is a joke. I have been using them for 3 years unfortunately due to the fact that they are the only company that rents the salt cells. Our tech is always changing due to the fact that people don’t stay with this company long. We found out the water wasn’t being treated after our neighbors brought their water in to a pool store to have theirs tested. We brought our water in as well and we were down 5 bags of salt! Along with other chemicals that were needed, they didn’t come out till the following week to add those. Now our cell is cracked and was leaking water all night long and I’m told they don’t have any parts and will have to convert to chlorine pool. Please do yourself a favor and call someone else!

I wish i could select zero stars rather than 1. The service is terrible and you spend just as much time just doing the work yourself after the tech leaves. I now consider myself lucky if the techs simply check the chemical levels but it doesnt matter and they usually do not have salt on their trucks or chlorine tablets.

i’m a renter, first they charged for a part i didn’t approve ($15) second, the raised there rates nearly $50 then they charged me $40 for a “conditioner” when i called to find out why this was not added to the pool i was told that it’s for part and a stabilizer so i imagine if i called a third time they would have another name for the charger so in March pool= $89 April=$185 companies should charge more for inflation but they should not be allowed to profit off inflation.

Horrible service. Weekly service was spotty, with some weeks no service performed. I signed up for the "premier" salt water service in April and after repeated requests for updates, was contacted in November to re-submit the "salt water agreement form". With so many pool companies in the valley, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. In my opinion, Poolman is not worth the money.

Field technicians are generally good, although have had trouble a couple of times with reporting service was done, when it hasn't been. Back office can be difficult to deal with. Always have to get a "manager" involved, which slows down resolution of issues.

We've used Poolman for several years now, but the past few years have been nothing but problems. The quality of service is apparently directly proportional to your assigned technician - and if you have a bad one, good luck making a complaint. The staff in the office can't usually assist; everything is referred to a manager and you'll wait until they make some sort of offer of restitution - which will likely be insulting. First example - the tech recommended that we clean the filters. This is common, and their cost for cleaning was not outrageous at all, so we agreed. I returned home after the cleaning with an urgent note to immediately schedule replacement of the filters since they were at end of life. Now, instead of telling us this BEFORE he cleaned the filters, he told us after - so he just cleaned (and we paid for) USELESS filters that need replacement. The cost to replace the filters? $600 plus a new service visit fee which is essentially another $100. After complaining to the office, they agreed to waive the $100 fee (gosh, that's so generous!). Come to find out, I found replacement filters locally for less than $200. Replacing them isn't hard, so I did it myself. Fast forward...two weeks ago, we notice that no one serviced the pool on our usual day of the week. We waited a few days, thinking that maybe the schedule got mixed up and he would show up later. A week passes, and still no tech visit. Now, we are back to our normal scheduled day - and he comes to the house (we see him in his truck), but he never leaves his truck. He leaves no proof of visit, and our security cameras never record him entering the backyard. Apparently, they have GPS in their trucks to prove that they went out on their route, so he just parks and gets credit. I contacted the office to complain and let them know that this was the last straw. The customer service agent wants to speak to their manager to see what kind of restitution they might provide. They call back later that day offering to give me credit for the two missed days and to provide full cleaning service (we only had backwash, brush, and empty baskets) for the next two visits - all I'll have to pay for is chemicals. What? I don't pay for chemicals now - the pool is on a salt system and we don't add chlorine. I canceled and wished them good luck. If you get a decent tech, things will be ok, but I promise they'll never be great.

The service has been good. Their scheduling people are great and they will follow up when calling as you get a voicemail and they will call within a couple of hours so that is good.

They would not come out to service the pool, they lost the gate key nearly monthly, and when they did clean the pool they maybe did half of what they claimed they did.

Poolman shouldn't be rated as a company, but rather each servicer should be rated.  This is why I gave them a "C" for overall experience.  For the first year and a half we never had any issues.  Then, a different person started servicing our pool and it was one issue after another.  First, I was home and noticed they were not brushing the pool.  Then, one time, they unplugged the salt cell and our pool turned green.  We had to have them out for an additional visit within the same week to figure out why algae was growing, and we found the servicer unplugged the unit.  After many issues, the straw that broke the camel's back was when they left the filter in the backwash position.  This wound up flooding our yard when the pump turned on that night and we had about 3 inches of water surrounding our yard.  Luckily, my dog was barking like crazy from inside at the back door and I went out and saw it was doing this and I turned off the pump.  We lost about a foot of water from the pool.  I can only imagine if my dog didn't respond the way he did and our pool would have been drained and the pump probably would have been fried from running on empty all night.  We promptly fired them.  At said time, they came and removed the salt cell as they provide it as a rental when you use their service.  We will not be using them again.  If you get a good servicer, you can expect good service.  However, we did not have a good servicer after that first year and a half.

Many telephone calls to the company, and spoke to the pool tech almost every week.  No improvement in water clarity.  Always a reason the pool was dirty looking, Never their fault.  Pool Service terminated.

The pool water was looking cloudy and they could not solve the problem but pointed to a filtering problem. They sent a tech to give me an estimate that came to $1080 plus they were trying to sell me a larger filter system, both of which I declined.
After I repaired the filter myself (for $54 in parts and 30 minutes of my time) the water was still cloudy. I then cancelled the service contract with Poolman and after the salt water system was removed, I checked the pool chemistry and discovered that the water Ph and Chlorine levels were too high (off the scale!). After correcting the Ph level (a service for which Poolman was billing us for ) the water returned to normal.
The services rendered were ineffective, their employees were mean and obnoxious and tried to dishonestly sell services and products that were not needed.
Stay away from them!

Excellent..contractors he uses are all professional and work hard to please the customer. They all cleaned up the yard daily...they each worked until their job was done. They were all comfortable to have in the backyard.

My filter is working now but...The repairs to my old filter exceeded the cost of an entirety new filter. Very dishonest in my opinion. It also took a few days for a very simple repair.

I called Poolman after our spa started draining into the swimming pool.

They replaced three valves, charged me over $300, and it still wasn't fixed.

I called Aqua Shine Pool Service after joining Angie's list and seeing their positive reviews,

and within two days the issue was fixed.  What was the problem?

An inexpensive seal.  A fraction of the cost of what Poolman charged me!

Sadly, I've reached my frustration limit with the overall management of this company. I actually have relatively few complaints about the service itself... I like that they offer a chemical only service, and whenever something major has broken, they've been prompt and able to fix it at a fairly reasonable price. My problem with them has been with their front office, their lack of communication, and their overall disregard for their customer's time and life. Similar to another review, they would change the agreed upon maintenance date without warning, they would "work ahead" and simply show up at the house, expecting the gate to be gained entrance on their whim... I called multiple times asking for a 24 hr warning so I could ensure that the dog was put up -- never happened, to the point where I finally took the key I'd given them back, which at least kept them from entering the property and endangering the escape of the pooch, but often times kept me from getting service on my scheduled day. These types of things (and more) happened too many times over the years to recount them all, but the final straw was recently when I (admittedly) neglected to leave the gate unlocked on the day of service - so I called as soon as I got to work to find out what time the tech was going to arrive and if it worked- I would run home to unlock the gate so that he could service the pool per normal. It did, they said he wasn't going to get there until noon. So I busted my tail to get home before noon to unlock the gate, only to pick up a note when I arrived saying that they couldn't service the pool b/c the gate was locked (duh), noted at 11:25a. Can you say "furious"? So anyway -- if you have don't care when they show up- this service may work perfectly fine for you - but if you need them to be on any kind of schedule, and need them to be able to COMMUNICATE it to you in a timely manner, I'd look elsewhere.

This represents our personal opinion only as to our experience with the Poolman Company. We had a very bad experience with the management for over two years. The field never communicated with upper management. You were always left spinning and management made everything so difficult when you spoke to them. There were always additional fees because the field couldn't make decisions to help the client. Someone always had to come out to check what the problem was. We felt this policy was designed to charge the customer more fee's. You always had their office administrator calling you to approve additional charges. Our pool, spa and fountain equipment took a lot of wear and tear because of the way they serviced the equipment at times due to new employees who were not trained on certain equipment. We will never use this company again and we really tried to be patient with them. Management had total disrespect for the client. We always argued about what the word "CLEAN" means.

We have been a Poolman customer for over 1 year and we are finally canceling our service which was really hard for us because we liked the salt water system they will install for free if you are with them.  They serviced two pools for us.  When we first joined Poolman, I had requested our cleaning be done on a Thursday or Friday because of heavy use during the summer months and they obliged, so we signed up with them and had Friday as our cleaning day.  About 1 month later, they changed it to Wednesday without informing us.  When I called the company, the General Manager said it had to do with their routing and scheduling and there was nothing they could do.  So we had Wednesday service.  Then they changed our service day to Monday with no notice.  When I called again and spoke to the same General Manager, he said it had to do with routing and scheduling and there was nothing he could do.  I told him Mondays for us as a family will not work, but he said they do not take into consideration the customers requests because they are the biggest pool service company in Arizona and that is not how they work.  We also have had 4 different pool service technicians in under a year and they always seem to find something wrong with our pool or equipment and the need to replace or fix something.  And finally, their prices are not all that good.  Since I have been shopping around on Angie's list to replace them, I have found much better rated Pool Service Providers at a much lower price.  Their gimmick for sure is the "free" salt water system they will install if you use them, but don't get suckered into it.  The saltwater system is cool, but definitely not worth what you will go through with this company...
