Motra Transmission is a family owned business that has been in operation for many decades now. Dave Motra is a master mechanic that puts his heart into all he does and works with everyone honestly and with great integrity. With 140,000 miles on my vehicle a simple check engine light came on and the service code was for the transmission. I researched a few transmission shops online and found nothing but complaints and unresolved BBB disputes. I found Motra on Angie's List and gave them a call and liked what I heard from our first discussion. When I went in to the shop Dave took the time to examine my vehicle thoroughly and explain in detail all the options open to me. I decided to invest in the rebuild and was really glad I did! Dave not only addressed the worn out parts he also took the time to completely clean out the transmission, replace all seals and even repair a few other related components that affected the life and performance of the transmission as a whole! Dave has been working on cars his whole life and is truly a master craftsman! His is a small, family run enterprise that goes the extra lengths to deliver exceptional service and value.

We bought '03 Honda Odyssey with 120,000 miles from Arrowhead Honda, our local dealer. Initially no problems but during our first long drive it would occasionally slip our of gear while accelerating. Learned to put it into neutral, then back into drive and all was well until the next time a week or 2 later. The engine light eventually came on. Returned to the dealer who changed transmission fluid and test drove it and found no problems. We drove for a week and it happened again. Checked under Angie's List and found Motra Motors in old building, office cluttered. Husband and wife team, friendly and approachable. Dave offered to drive it a few days, still would not do it. He suggested redoing engine and transmission mounts so did this for $800. Week later it slipped out of gear again. Drove it for a while like that with no real change but decided we wanted a vehicle we could depend on. Took back to the dealer, again after the engine light came on. They said they would put in a new transmission--$4,500. Called Motra who said a rebuild would cost $1,600-1,900. We took their offer and 5 days and $2,000 later (tax) we got a van which doesn't slip out and has better acceleration and milage. Doing business with them was a pleasure.

Dave did a great job and is very knowledgeable. He was able to answer any questions I had and explain how the cooler works. The price for installing the cooler was competitive with other shops I called in the area. I will return to Motra for transmission service or any needed repair in the future.

While visiting from out of state, my neice's car developed a transmission fluid leak. She also commented that the transmission was acting and quot;funnyand quot; that day. I took her to Motra Transmissions at 9110 N. Cave Creek Rd, Phoenix, where I have taken two of my vehicles for transmission replacements.
We took the car on a Saturday, which, unfortunately, was only a half day of work at the shop. But the mechanics worked at checking the vehicle out and by Monday had found that the alternator was actually the problem for the and quot;funnyand quot; operation. Originally, it appeared that the alternator would need replacement, but upon further inspection, they found that the individual who had installed it (a friend of the family, about a month earlier) had installed it without properly tightening all the connections down. The mechanic explained that the connections being loose were playing havoc with the electrical system, causing a number of potential problem. All it would take, afterall, was properly securing the various connections, dramatically decreasing the cost of the repair.
They also worked at finding the cause of the transmission and an oil leaks we had also mentioned. While fixing the leaking transmission pan seal, they serviced the transmission, which was due for servicing anyway, killing two birds with one stone, so to speak.
The mechanics and their office manager kept us informed of what was going on and when they thought the vehicle would be ready. Tuesday when we went to get the vehicle the mechanic explained in detail what had gone on, and took nearly an hour of his time to explain what to look for in the future, in the event that the alternator might have damaged the battery in some way. He also said that the oil leak was not sufficient that it needed to be addressed immediately, but to keep an eye on the fluid levels and my neice could get the leaking seal replaced back home, at a more convenient time.

THEY WERE VERY COMPETITIVE OUT OF THE 3 OTHER BIDS WE RECEIVED. THEY DID THE WORK IN THE TIME FRAME THEY GAVE US. WE WOULD USE THEM AGAIN.
