Since that time, the unit has malfunctioned three times and still not working properly. The unit is obviously poor quality so we told Lanza we were unhappy with their product and asked to return it for a partial refund. We were told by Scott that our only options were to repair the unit again, but that we would have to pay the labor costs or anything not covered under warranty OR upgrade to a better system for an additional $800. In other words, spend more time and money on a non-working, sub par system.
"[member name removed], I understand your position and respect where you’re coming from. I'm sorry we couldn't work something out. The system we talked about and installed is scalable and has the ability to do everything on your needs list. You wanted a lot more than the budget at the time afforded. Going in to your job, we had trepidation because the cost of what you wanted did not align with your budget. You and I talked about this and we game planned to go in phases. Over a year later, we have been to your house at no cost, upgraded your camera unit and taught you how to do some basic troubleshooting (restarting the unit after power outages or spikes). I came out myself and explained to you that we were trying to do things the system it's not engineered for without the other pieces, which cost money. None of these conversations or costs were a surprise as we talked about them all. We help all of our customers and work with their budgets and make things the best they can be. We bend over backwards for our customers and respond to needs quickly. When it comes down to it, we don't have the ability to return a system that's been installed and used for over a year, works as designed, and you decide you don’t like it. As always, if you want to work through this, call me directly. Scott 602-314-7744"
Once all of my high end equipment was installed nothing was working in unison or consistently. I contacted owner and AJ with no avail. All I wanted was for Lanza to refund me my money I spent on hardware and pick all of their provided equipment. I was willing to pay for labor so the technicians did not get the raw end of the bargain.
"Hello [member name removed] I'm sorry for your experience, however I personally sent you 3 emails after your service to follow up. We had no success in December 2013 finishing out your install because these phone calls and emails went unanswered. Sorry that you fell the way you do about your system and if there is anything I can do to help you, please don't hesitate. I do, however, feel that this review is unwarranted as my team and myself attempted to do our due diligence in following up to ensure great service, as we do with all of our customers. Feel free to write me or call me any time. Update. We still have not heard back from this customer."
"[Member Name Removed], we did the best we could with your unique situation. Unlike our reputation, we couldn't make you happy which is always our main priority. We had tried to call and email to discuss with you many times to find resolve but couldn't get in touch. Our door is always open if you have concerns. We do our best to make every customer a raving fan."
I found Lanza through a general web search and liked what I saw so I had them stop by for an estimate. Their salesperson, Scott, was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I knew already basically what I wanted and he did a great job explaining some practical difficulties and suggesting sound alternatives. Unlike some other sales people I've dealt with he was respectful of my thoughts and didn't try to push any expensive new equipment or additions.
Once I decided to pull the trigger, it took about a week to schedule an appointment - apparently Lanza runs a fairly busy shop so don't expect a 1-2 day turnaround from when you call to when work can be done. This wasn't an issue for me however. On the day of the appointment, two gentlemen came over to complete the job. It took a looong time, basically 9 hours start to finish, which was longer than what I, or they for that matter, were expecting. That said, everything got done and got done right. Speakers were installed, properly wired and securely mounted. The ethernet ports and speak wallplate look like they were preinstalled when the house was built. One small deduction on quality - they forgot to patch one hole in the wall where the cable coaxial had previously entered the house! Some caulk on my part created a temporary fix and I'm sure they would come out to correct this issue if asked (I have not as yet). All other cuts into the walls were neatly patched over however.
Overall I'm very happy with the work and will definitely be consulting with this company again as I continue to upgrade the electronics around my house.
"[removed member name]! I just was poking around Angies list and saw that you reviewed us back in November! Thank you so much for taking the time and sharing your thoughts. They are very beneficial to us as a company and makes us excited to work for customers like you. I saw that we missed patching a hole. I'm so sorry! I remember it was a long day that day. If you haven't gotten it fixed as of yet, we'll swing by at no cost and get that taken care of. Hope you're doing well! Scott Morris, Lanza AV 602-314-7744"
