Inspection Specialists

Alan seemed knowledgeable and his $5000 warranty is quite remarkable. I got the impression that he and the 2 students with him were cranking through a lot of these inspections. Although they were at the house for about 4 hours, 1-2 hours of that time was spent compiling the report while we waited. They missed a cracked window pane in the living room--a minor detail, but one wonders if there weren't other things missed as well. I got the impression of an adequate job with all bases covered, but nothing extra or unpaid for. The main reason I wouldn't use him again is because I had an outstanding experience with another home inspector a few weeks later who charged 38% less and ended up fixing the furnace of the house he was inspecting. Alan, on the other hand, was clear about how it was not his responsibility to light the furnace at all. I'm sure he was on superior legal standing, but I would still rather have the other inspector working for me.
