Custom Cooling and Plumbing

I called a friend who has been in the cooling business for 47 years and he graciously came and looked at the unit (with no charge). His opinion: the Superseal  had done massive damage to the unit. 

We originally hired Custom Cooling from a high recommendation APS gave us years before. I immediately called APS after my problems with this organization. They informed me that Custom Cooling was not on their recommendation list. I had already checked Angie?s list prior to calling for service  and the record was still good. Certainly seemed a good choice but as I said ownership had been changed and I guess quotas were made.

Talked to the owner, Jerry. He admitted that some mistakes were made ($683.00 worth) and that they would make it right by giving me a huge discount on a new unit. I let him talk. He was shocked that I did not buy the deal from him but said I would think about it. 

Got on Angie?s List and proceeded to call about nine different air conditioning companies. Most of them had the same brand and unit recommended. Prices about the same. I did some research on the brands recommended in this area and came to a conclusion that I felt was best for us.

 

I had three companies on my short list. 

1. A friend was getting a new unit(the same brand as my ultimate choice but a ?better deal?). After the installation, he would not recommend the company. No one to talk to about an issue. They simply refused to take his call or call back.  

                       

2. The next company that was on my short list gave an interesting alternative to the standard brand in the area and I was impressed with his product. When I asked if he would be wanting to see the unit in person he said no, not until I signed the contract. That did not make sense.

3. The third company I called and talked to a person who explained that they are an engineer based company and they needed to see the unit. He came out. Made a lot of sense and we purchased the unit. They kept us relatively cool until the new unit was installed Sept. 27. The unit was done in a neat and professional manner. The price was definitely higher.

Glenn arrived when he said he would put in the sealant and waited to make sure it ran a sufficient time and was cooling. He was on his way.

Checked everything pertaining to the unit. Waited for the unit to thaw. He then put in antifreeze and checked that it was in working order.

I've been using them for less than 5 years, but I called them because I have two air conditioners. I had checked with several people and they were telling me that I needed to replace it. He looked at it and told me that I had a bent fan blade and he was able to fix it. He saved me thousands of dollars and that air conditioner is still working. They are so trust worthy. I have had no bad experiences with them. They're very, very good men. They also take caer of my mother's air conditioner and they're keeping it going as well. I trust them to know that whatever they say is going to be honest.

They handled everything very professionally. This company seemed right for me. They did all the work in one day. They cleaned up after themselves. The workers were pleasant. They had a big crane haul my old A/C unit over the wall so my pool equipment wouldn't be harmed. So far, we are extremely pleased with the unit. It works great. When you are paying so much for a large item like this you want everything to go right. It did and we are very pleased! I would highly recommend this company.

I could not have been happier with Custom Cooling's work. They installed two new compressors and air handlers. They moved the air handlers from the original installation locations to new locations in the attic to accomodate proper size plenums on the air handlers, moved and modified supply and return lines in order for them to be more efficient, and installed decking for access to the new locations. I noticed immediate differences in the volume of air being directed into the house compared to before. Custom Cooling returned at my request to rework the poor original supply lines in one part of the house, install dampers to balance the air flow in three rooms and some other minor work to fully optimize my set up. They also troubleshot a and quot;line knocking noiseand quot; were one of them crawled through the smallest of attic spaces which took quite some effort to find the location of knocking and secure it which was successful. This was pure dedication to satisfy the customer and there is no more and quot;2am in the morning knocking of the the linesand quot; when the AC runs. The installers were very professional, detail oriented and easy to work with. We got to know the installation crew quite well because we knew it was a tough job and made sure they were taken care of as much as possible. Custom Cooling went above and beyond in this installation as they fixed items beyond the scope of the contract, i.e. old original set up. I have significant reduction of my cooling and heating bills over the previous setup due to the new equipment but also the work they did on the lines. I can not compliment their work enough.

Experience from scheduling, to arrival, repair, and follow up was outstanding. Will use again without hesitation.

These are good guys--knowledgeable, honest, prompt and good-natured.

Our air conditioning went out on Saturday morning. I called and they were able to get a repair person to our home between 1-3 pm the same day. Shawn came out, and was professional and on time. He said the blower motor and capacitor were out in the attic. The parts supply house was closed for the day already, but he could get us the parts and install them on Monday morning. At 8:30 am Monday morning, I received a call that they had the parts and were on their way to my home. They had checked and found that the parts were under warranty still, so for a $35 fee, they filled out all the paperwork and sent off for warranty replacement of the parts. That saved us from paying $300 for parts. We weren't even sure if it was still covered under warranty, so that made our day. Glen arrived at the house, put the parts in and was done in less than an hour. We are very satisfied with Custom Cooling and would use them again (although I hope to not need my a/c fixed again anytime soon, haha).

Shawn was very good about answering any and all questions, and went beyond what most of the other companies did before getting the job. His willingness to do that showed that he really cared about us making the right decision based on having all the information we needed beforehand. No pressure. The installers were professional and did a great job. Only unexpected thing is that I was told they'd contact us in a couple of weeks to follow up, but haven't heard anything yet. But we're very happy with the job they did.

We use Custom Cooling for regular A/C maintenance, but did not know they did emergency service calls. We called Sunday morning, hoping maybe to get a call back on Monday morning. We got called back an hour later, and were told Shawn would be out between 1 and 3 pm. He was prompt and replaced the switch without delay. The switch included a 1 year warranty. Although we had to pay extra for a Sunday service call, it was so worth it.
