This is the first time that I worked with Jim, overall very happy with his service and responsiveness. Jim is very knowledgeable and always patient to explain in detail if I have any questions. Jim has built a good website includes much good information to assist his clients to understand the latest mortgage market trend and including his own analysis whether to lock or float.

We found Jim Merrill of Axel Mortgage through the great ratings he had received on Angie's List.  Finding Jim was a Godsend as it turns out.  We truly feel that we couldn't have closed on our AZ house without Jim's professionalism, expertise, and tenacity.  We had a closing scheduled on our AZ house but the sale on our Colorado house fell through and we had to put it back on the market.  We finally got another buyer but it pushed the closing of the house back over a month.  Jim stuck with us through all the trials and tribulations and, somehow, managed to still get us the same mortgage rate that we had previously been locked in for. 
Overall, this process took over three months and we ran into problem after problem in the sale of the Colorado house.  Many things had to be accomplished to get that transaction closed and then to be able to close on the AZ house.  Jim was our "rock" throughout this whole ordeal and, in our opinion, he went way above and beyond what most brokers would have done.  Today, we're moving into our new house and we credit, in large part,  Jim Merill and Axel Mortgage for making this possible.  If we could give Jim an A+++ rating, we'd do it!

It went just fine.  This was a re-fi.  There was a problem when we found out there was a lien on the property from the previous owner's loan that had not been properly cleared off of the title when I first bought the house.   Jim worked diligently with the title company to get it cleared up.

Jim is by far the most ethical, honest, dependable and respectable loan officer I have ever worked with in my 6 1/2 years as a Realtor. Jim and Doug from Axel mortgage provided excellent service!  They were always quick to respond to emails and phonecalls. Jim's interest rates and closing costs were very competitive w/ other brokers and we were pleasantly surprised at closing when origination fees and title fees came in signifantly lower than Jim's original good faith estimate.  We were able to reduce our mortage payments by about $300/month and avoid PMI!

Loan went off without a hitch.

We attempted to purchase several short sales and in each case, Jim was very helpful in providing the necessary documentation to substantiate our claims that we would be able to get financing. For one reason or another those short sales fell through, not due to any fault of Jim's. In retrospect, we are glad that we did not get any of the short sales. Then we came upon a foreclosed home, and he helped us to navigate the tricky world of foreclosures with an out of state title & escrow company. Being a very hands-on person, I e-mailed and called Jim on multiple occasions asking about the status of the mortgage and he was always prompt to answer and was always patient with my inquiries. He helped me to stay on top of the mortgage process and all the different entities (i.e. the bank that owned the home, the bank providing the mortgage, the appraiser, the seller's realtor, our realtor, the title company, etc.) involved and he helped me to ensure that there were no obstacles or delays with the mortgage funding. He was extremely knowledgeable about the entire convoluted process and explained to me at each step, what was happening and what was going to happen next. Then within 30 minutes of the loan funding, Jim sent me a final e-mail saying that my loan had funded and congratulated me on my purchase. I could not be more pleased with the home purchase or the service provided to me by Jim regarding getting this mortgage approved.

One of my former mentors passed on Jim's name to me and I used them in 2003 and since then, have recommended them at least eleven other times to my friends, co-workers and clients. I work as a financial planner and in all my years in the business I have never seen anyone beat their rates. Drawing from my personal experience and from those of my clients and friends, I have seen Axel compete against other banks, mortgage companies, mortgage lenders and even brokerages and they have been able to win every time.
