I had removed the old laminate floor. Estimator (Leisa) came over to measure and check out floors. My home is over 80 years old so I was prepared that additional prep might be required but she didn't indicate that. Installers were late by a few hours and it took much longer than expected. They did not seem to have any directions as to what they were doing and seemed surprised that I did not want a 1" group spacing. These were wood-look plank style tiles and I wanted a very tight look. So they installed it with no grout joints at all. I assumed that was OK. They ran out of tile and had to come back a second time.. . I stressed that I had somewhere else I had to be on that day and they assured me they would be right on time, but it didn't work out that way. The installer, when he arrived, told me he had been sent to complete a job on the west side first - something Leisa later denied. They finished their work and I lived with it for a few days, then a couple of weeks then I called Leisa to come take a look because the job definitely looked wrong. She agreed and said that it would need grout after all and that some of the tile baseboard would have to be re-done as it was seriously weird. So they came out a third time and ripped the tile off the baseboard in places and applied grout to the floor. They left with a layer of grout all over the floor because "they couldn't put too much water on it". When I cleaned it up I lived with it a few days and weeks and I got a bill from Leisa for the final 1/2 and I wrote her an e-mail telling her all my frustrations with the floor. Basically, it looks awful. some joints have grout; most don't. Chips in the tile are filled in with grout - some are large. Where they ripped the tiles off the baseboard, they left rough gray grout on the wall. The transition to the adjoining floor looks like my grand daughter did it and fninshed it off with a fork. All this is what I included in my e-mail to the company. I asked them to get back to me and decide what they felt it was worth. I have not heard one word from them in all this time (almost 7 months). So if I could be happy with the floor, I would feel good about getting a 1/2 price floor, but every time I look at it, I feel aggravated.
There were other issues - I found out on-line that a tile that looked to my eyes exactly like the one I chose was on sale for 50 cents a square foot less - their comment? It's only cents; every single time Leisa was goint to "check on something and get right back to me" she did not - she never returned a phone call.
.. It took six days to complete... 10 days from the date contract signed. Even though things looked good on first glance, after living on it for a few months, things began to be noticed... I will know next time I hire someone to save my opinion for later.
