In a moment of weakness and in an effort to protect my surgically replaced shoulder I called this service company to do what I considered a minor repair. (It had been done previously and amounted to Removal and Replacement of a simple part and about 6-8 sheet metal screws). After calling their number and getting a recording informing me that their "business hours" were 8am to 2pm Monday through Thursday (should have been a clue), I left a message expecting a call the next day. After waiting I called them back and was informed casually that "oh, I haven't even looked at those message yet", (Is this a business or a hobby)? The woman who answered said that "Jr" would be out in two days sometime in the morning, at about 11:00 am he showed and spent about 10 minutes diagnosing the problem, which by the way I told the scheduler what the problem was earlier as I've dealt with this before. He said he didn't have the part but he could order it through Whirlpool for $115.00+ and couldn't return before Monday. (This was Wednesday making it a full week since the first call to them). He was also seemingly delighted to charge for the return trip and labor (essentially paying for their lack of inventory) bringing the total to in excess of $250.00. When I protested the cost of the part and the high labor charge he was once again curtly told me, "he had to drive over an hour to get to me" and "he had gone to school to learn how to do this work" I'm not sure why the drive was my problem or his training. I went to the computer knowing that the part shouldn't be that expensive while he was here and found it online in several places including Amazon as I have a Amazon Prime account with a retail of no more than $26, free shipping, no tax and overnight delivery. I paid his $75 trip fee and decided to do what I should have done in the first place and fix it myself. (He also admitted that he checked the price on Amazon and saw that it was the aforementioned $26 but that the part was from China (No it wasn't unless Wisconsin is in China). I received the part the next afternoon and after 20 minutes work (one tool a ¼" nut driver) and running additional continuity test on the heat sensor and moisture sensor ($6 multimeter from Harbor Freight) and routing the wires carefully I was back with a fully functioning dryer. Admittedly I consider myself a good handy man with years of DIY experience but I think just about anyone could have done the same work with a glance at a multitude of instructional video's online and a little time. Ultimately I deal with a number of contractors for work I no longer desire to do, I'm 70 years old and retired, and for the most part I find these contractors to be hard working, fair and professional. I myself was a Computer Network Engineer for 20 years and understand the overhead of running a business and respect the need for a profit margin. Sadly this was not one of those companies, but conversely they were very representative of the distressing trend towards companies charging more and more and gouging the public wherever possible and give less and less in return. If you are handy at all give these projects a look before calling or if you need a serviceman and have the time and money by all means call someone but not these people you will be disappointed. Note: I'm sure their response will be a litany of how wonderful they are with accolades from their mothers to the Governor but I can only express my opinion based on my experience which was one of the poorest I've seen and I've seen a lot. Thank you

Steve and Becky visited to diagnose a freezer/ice maker problem with our refrigerator. They determined it was an evaporator problem covered by extended warranty and advised parts (new evaporator) would need to be ordered.  They set up a follow up appointment assuming the parts would be delivered the morning of the appointment.  Well, the parts did come in that day, but the distributor sent them to the wrong place....Becky actually had to make a special fairly long trip to pick up the parts, which was very nice of her!). Becky and Steve were both friendly, courteous, and professional.  They worked very well together, and had the new evaporator installed and working in a relatively short time, considering they had to take out almost all the interior panels in the refrigerator to get to the bad evaporator. Couldn't have been more pleased with their service!

Any service provider can get a good review for a routine service, but the real test comes when things don't so well initially.
Appliance Doctor performed a repair on our ice maker that was routine and some minor lubrication for door hinges squeaks on one dishwasher.    The other dishwasher required a new control unit -- unfortunately, through no fault of Appliance Doctor, that became the "repair from h***" (so to speak).
The problem was the originall installer had squeezed the dishwasher in in such a way that it was virtually impossible to service and reinstall without the door assembly bound in such a fashion that the dishwasher would occasionally not finish its cycle.
Appliance Doctor worked diligently to fix this - it took a number of visits, but they never complained and never charged me extra.   They were determined to stand behind their work, although I'm sure they lost money on my job.   They demonstrated terrific integrity and continued to return until the problem was finally solved.
They exhibited complete professionalism throughout what had to be a very difficult and discouraging set of events.
I will unquestionably use them again for an appliance repair.

Steve did not ask us if we wanted to pay for overnight shipping, and apparently they don't work any hours other than Monday through Friday normal business hours.  Had I known it would take so long to get a common part in a big city like Phoenix, I would have called a company that works 7 days. The part was GE WR17X12490, available online at several sources for around $150. Our charge was $280, which included his time to come out twice, once to diagnose and once to install.  I'm not bothered about his charge, just his lack of a sense of urgency.  Thank goodness we had a 2nd fridge in the garage that allowed us to save most of our food.

I called Monday Morning at 8am and they were here and finished by 10am.

We really appreciated the prompt and friendly service as we were preparing for a trip.

Our washer would not drain or spin and had a load just sitting there. Our washer is 12 years old and we were a little worried that it would need replacing but with the new switch it works great.

We have used Appliance Doctor before for other appliances and they have always been excellent.
