Tech was nice, but one hour and $240 later, he said he was unable to reprogram remotes or key pad (he indicated a defective board on one and the programming wouldn’t keep). And then he indicated it would be over $2,600 to install new openers (he would install a lesser opener on the single garage door, which seems fine). Wow!!! I told him no thank you!

DO NOT use this company under any circumstances. We went with them and paid $2,000 for a new garage door opener. We paid this amount because we were told we would have a lifetime warranty on it. After we paid and signed everything, the technician said oh we can’t honor the warranty unless you upgrade your springs for $800-1200 more because your door is too heavy. So we asked them to take it down as we only paid this much to receive the warranty. We were told to wait for the technician to talk to his manager. After a lot of back and forth they are unwilling to do anything and stated all sales are final. Upon talking to some coworkers, they had a the same or similar experience. DO NOT USE THEM. If I could give negative rating, I would give that. One of the worst company to work with. I had to get two garage door installed. I knew that those garage doors were heavy and hence I sent the pictures of those doors to sales person. After looking at the pictures and door openers, I got a quote which was higher than other company I was talking to. Other company for by reference but they could not install door for a month. When I talked to sales person, I clearly asked whether they can install earlier than a month and I was told that yes, I will have appointment in two weeks but I have to deposit 50% of the cost.. That was back in Early November. One day before the appointment I get a call that my appointment have to be rescheduled because they did not book two tech to install both doors. I waited for an hour but finally they figured out to help me. Two tech came over and looked at both doors and garage door openers. They installed one door but not the opener. They did not install second door. Two new tech came back two weeks later to install the second door and opener. This time also they did not install the opener either and said first two tech will come back to install the opener. There was almost no communication by the company on getting those openers installed even after following up many times. Only once I managed to get it escalated and I was told that for all the inconvenience I was be credited $600 from my invoice. To me it felt like they have completely forgot me and installation of door opener. I got frustrated and scheduled door opener installation with another company. Very next day I get a call from billing department to collect the remaining payment as their system showed that job has been completed. I told them that job is not completed. I was told that I will be contacted by another person. I was contacted again and I told them that I have hired another company. I was told that give them couple days to make things correct and I should cancel my appointment with another company. This time they also mentioned that door openers I have are not the right one, I have to get new openers and that will cost me $2400 more(This is after multiple visits from their tech and not once they mentioned that door openers I had are not right one). Luckily I still had one day to cancel without getting charged. I told them that I have to know by Monday and I was promised that I will be contacted first thing Monday morning. There was no call on Monday morning. I called back Tuesday morning and left a voice mail to call me back but never received call back. I waited for week but there was no call back. At this time I decided to go back to new company. Two weeks later I get call again from A1 to see how this can be resolved but this time it was too late as I had already made deposit to another company. This entire process took more than 5 months and I am without door opener. Now they have guts to send my balance to collection agency even when they have not completed the work and going through the pain to continue to follow with them and then find another company yo just install the door openers.

One star is too generous. This company gave me a bid for over $10,000 to replace my garage door and opener. This was not a door with glass or custom woodwork or solid gold hinges. It was a regular 2-car garage door. When I asked them to justify the price, they told me that the door cost them over $7000 to purchase. They will scam you if they can get away with it. Beware of this company!

Horrendous!!!!! Absolute worst possible service and treatment from this company. My doors were never ordered. Even though I called company twice to verify they were on the way. Expensive doors, special order, 18 weeks at max quoted to receive them. 5 months later I am told distribution did not order my doors. At best 3 additional months to get doors. They took my money and did not honor their contact. Absolutely unacceptable and completely dismissive of my garage door needs and order placed in good faith. Do not order from this company. Buyer Beware. If I could do zero stars I would. I was lied to and no one is taking responsibility. Deal with this company at your own risk.

What a professional company! Called and got an appointment for the next day between 8 am and 1 pm. At 8 am we received a call from the company that the driver's truck broke down. They promised to keep me informed what time he would arrive. A few minutes later, the driver called and said it was fixed and he was on his way. We really appreciated the level of customer service we received! Steve showed up and never tried to up-sell us anything. He looked at the garage door, made recommendations for things that needed replacement and things that could wait. We had him replace everything since all the parts and the opener were 25 years old. Very nice guy. My only regret.....we forgot to ask for the senior discount! RATS!!!

They came exactly when they said they would and were very thorough. My motor was still good for a few years so they didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need.

OUTSTANDING!!! Kyle was so so professional and understanding on the door problem. He has such a courteous, friendly personality as well as professional. Arrived early as texted. Fixed the door and improved its operation. I will DEFINITELY use A-1 Garage cause of Kyle. But the way the whole operation communicates its arrival times to your residence via texting and sending picture of the of your assigned service technician plus a brief bio. A very FIRST CLASS operation and as well as extremely personable employee/technician. I am extremely impressed and pleased with the services rendered by Kyle and A-1 Garage Door Service. My team was right on time, explained my options, answered my questions, and hopped right to it. The project was done quickly, and cleaned up afterward. We discussed how to use the remote, and what to do if I had questions. Left manual with me, and I couldn't be happier! If you don't know anything about garage door remotes, these folks will walk you through your choices.

We called because our garage door wouldn't open. The repairman said we needed new springs even though they weren't broken and would have to go from there if that wasn't the problem. This would cost around $800.00. We told him no that we weren't going to replace the springs since they weren't broken. After about 15 minutes of arguing, my husband told him we would contact someone else. He then said there was a $20.00 trip charge even though it said free estimates. He said it was only free if we bought something. On one side of the flyer it stated free estimates but on the other side it stated free estimates but to call for details. We called another repairman who clicked the garage door opener and stated the belt was broken which needed to be replaced but the springs were fine. The belt could only be purchased by also buying the carrier but this came to a total of $200.00 and not the $800.00 that wouldn't even have fixed the door. I would never hire A1 Garage Door service for anything I needed.

It was an emergency after-hours repair after the notification was made, I was contacted that the contractor would arrive within 30 minutes, he arrived within 20 minutes. he was professional and explained the service he was providing. the repair amount was actually what was quoted. The after hour fee was waived. Very happy with the service. would strongly recommend to anyone else.

Snagged the Angie’s List deal for a $35 garage door tune up. Called A1 the next morning and was scheduled for 2 days later. The appointment window was 1:00-6:00, which I thought was excessive, but was told the tech would call when he was on his way. Jayson called about 11:45 and asked if he could come in 25-30 minutes. He arrived about 12:15. Right after he called, I received a text with a link that allowed me to track his progress - no guessing. Jayson’s work was excellent. He explained that my door was old (in fact, 12 years old) and the spring and cables would need replacing in the not too distant future, but they were fine now. No attempt to sell me something I didn’t need. I knew the rollers were on their last legs and we agreed to replace them. So I got the tune-up and roller replacement for what I thought was a very fair price. I will definitely be using A1 in the future.

Totally recommend A1 Garage Door Service. Very professional and answered any questions or concerns we had. Offered to program our car to the new garage door opener they installed, which was very helpful. One small issue was promptly taken care of.

A1 Garage Door Service responded to my door crisis with amazing speed and quality of service. The office phoned the morning of the appointment to confirm the arrival time. The serviceman, Ed J., arrived on time, thoroughly checked the door and its components, provided me with an estimate, then repaired the door with efficient competence and professionalism. It was very clear that he knew exactly what he was doing and explained what he had fixed and why. He gave me the old components. He even adjusted and serviced the automatic door opener. Ed advised me that the seal at base of the door could be repaired if I ever decided I wanted to and quoted a price for the repair but there was absolutely no pressure to do it today. It was a surprising and refreshing change from the many service people who try push costly additions to the original job (carpet cleaners, reverse osmosis water systems, etc.). The work and parts are quarranteed. I wholeheartedly recommend A1. They clearly emphasize customer service. It was a pleasure doing business with them from start to finish.

they came and checked. they said the cables were broke too. 2 cables $99. I had coupon for $149, 2 springs replaced (i said replaced here). but I was charged labor ($135). so total they charged me $416. I dont understand, if the coupon said 'replaced' , then why did they charge me for labor as well. Am I missing something here? Maybe I misunderstood the wording? ok, after a while, i was called and said that bearings and rollers went bad. $250 more. God, I donno what's going on in this world. companies are living off of consumers like me I guess. But money earned like this will never last. companies will go bad.

It was my lucky day when I found Brendon Colby & A1 Garage Door Service! How wonderfully refreshing to find a technician & company who not only don't do their best to take advantage of you at a vulnerable moment, but bend over backwards to work with you & help you out. They are so much more ethical & reasonably priced than another "top" company I had previous dealings with. Not to mention, Brandon & his trainee Roger were prompt, fast, knowledgeable & efficient. I can't recommend them more highly! Do yourself a favor & put your mind at ease by calling A1 for your all your garage door concerns.

Work ok for the first few openings and now it is extremely difficult. So I called them back to come out and fix there mistake. As of today October 15th 2018 I had a appointment between 8am and 1pm. They failed to show and I had to call them as ask what’s up and my service was low priority so they inconvenienced me. I had to be polite and argue with them to wave charges when they do come out. Which I’m not schedule for tomorrow October 16th. Let’s see if they can be a schedule and not double and over book there techs. Let’s see if they can do the job right the second time. I’m a huge fan to pay extra to get the job down right the 1st time. Obviously they failed! Hence the low rating and poor service.

I selected A1 Garage after reading all the positive reviews here. I called in on Labor Day and they were able to schedule me an appointment that day. I was relieved, my work schedule is Monday through Friday and I’m away 5-5 so getting repairs completed is difficult with that schedule. The technician came out and advised what piece needed to replaced. In the track, there was a piece that would clip into another piece to pull the door up and down. He further advised my garage door was too heavy for my springs and that was the larger issue. Without replacing the springs, my door would continue to break down. To replace the springs was around $800.At that point I asked how much just to replace the door which he advised was a couple hundred more and gave me various quotes. I also had plumbing issues at the time and advised I need to see how much my plumbing repair will be before proceeding. The plumber was coming the following day so the garage technician advised he’d call me in two days to see how I’d like to proceed. The plumbing issue turned out to be a simple fix so I decided to proceed with the garage door. The technician never called back. I replied through email but didn’t receive a response. I wanted one more quote and called back into the center advising what I was looking for. They said they’ll let the technician know and he’ll call me back. A couple business days passed and I still hadn’t heard from him. I called in again frustrated and they advised he’d call me back. This time he did get me the additional quote I requested. At this point I should have cut my losses and gone with a different company. I compared garage door prices with other companies based off his quotes and A1 was competitive. I pushed forward to order a new door. The next couple weeks was a series of me chasing the company. I’d call in for something and I would be advised I’d be called back. I would never be called back I always had to call back a couple days after I was advised they’d reach me. We finally get to the point that that both the door and piece have been received and they are ready to install. I took a day off of work ( Friday) to get it completed. The technician came out and first asked my why I was replacing the door. My current garage door looked new and good. I explained about how I was advised the springs weren’t adequate for the heavy door to which he replied, “ oh yeah, sometimes it’s just better to get a new door”. Now I’m feeling slightly taken advantage of but I’m too far in the process to turn back. He finished installing the door and all looked well. After he left I moved my car into the garage. While trying to close the door the two pieces were not attaching to each other again which was the initial issue. And the door would not open again. I called back into the center and advised I just had a new door installed and I am having the same initial issue. It was after hours so she advised someone will call me in the morning to get a technician out since my car was stuck in the garage now. The morning came and went and I heard nothing. Calling back in again and explaining again the issue, she advised someone would come out in two days. I explained that doesn’t work for me as I am stuck in my house. She placed me on hold and worked with the schedule department and advised someone would be out between 1-6. The original door installer returned around 4:30 and I explained what was happening. He advised the piece he replaced was slightly smaller than the original piece. He manually pulled open the door ( I’m very short, not something I can easily do). He advised he had to get a new part and would come Monday morning between 7-8am. Here we are on Monday morning and that time window has come and gone. I again called in to see what was happening. The intake person advised they will follow up with the technician to call me back. I know the drill now and was not holding my breathe. He did actually call me back and advised he had to go to the manufacture to get the piece but has another install to go to and will come back at the end of the day. At this point I am livid. I had already lost all day Saturday to get things done being stuck at the house. I told him I have things I need to do and can not sit and wait all day for him to show up. He then advised he would stop here first. At this time I am still waiting for him to arrive. Who knows if I hadn’t called if I would have ever been notified. My door looks nice, but I can’t use it. The customer service has been so abhorrent with A1 Garage. I hope to be able to use my garage as intended soon and never have to deal with A1 garage again.

They were very prompt and came out the next morning. Having someone come out to fix your broken garage door right away is so important. Because you know when it breaks, what a jam you are in!!! Ed Johanknecht, the Technician, was fantastic and did a great job! He also explained his work very thoroughly! He definitely knows his stuff and he does quality work!

Unit failed in 4/2016, again in 10/2016, 11/2017 and yet again multiple times this year 2018. Despite Mgmt promises to "make good" the opener continually fails to function and now current mgmt tells us we are obligated to pay labor for repair despite the products failure to function less than one year from date of installation. Company touts their "preferred" opener, Guardian 628, but the product fails to deliver and A1 just wants to keep collecting labor costs w/no product resolution. With service calls last 2 weeks, failure to communicate scheduling twice and most recent when advised tech was "en route"; he "phoned it in".
