After completion, I could open and close the door with my little finger. Great job.
I would highly recommend NOT dealing with Slide Right Door, that cannot deliver a product that was promised and yet refuse to refund deposit money paid. Janet also lied by stating that this issue with the new screen doors not matching the Heritage doors has? never happened before?.
I have a Heritage 6? sliding door that was original to the house (1999). The screen door is not working well and needed to be rescreened. I called SW Patio Door, the company that I have used before and was very pleased with. I got Slide Right Door on the phone. They bought out the other company within the past year. They sent Daniel, to come out to look at the problem. He stated that a new, commercial grade door would be a good solution. He only had an aluminum colored corner of the door to show me. I asked about the handle and locking mechanism and had to have someone take a photo to send it to him to show me. I asked very specifically about the color match and he said that the new screen door would match my door color.
I ordered the door and they asked for a deposit ( without stating that it is not refundable). I paid the $80 deposit. In the meantime I referred a friend and they are ordering a screen sliding door from them. I have many more neighbors and friends who come to me for recommendations
The door was delivered today and the color is a yellow almond and not even close to the original color of the door (which pink in tone). With the wide sides and ends to the door, it looked dreadful. The person delivering the door, Clayton, told me that they have had this problem with matching Heritage doors before and it was a concern of his once he drove up and saw my house. Clayton tried to be very helpful, and once the door was in place I could see that I could not live with the two clashing colors. He called the office to be told that I could not get my $80 deposit returned.
I asked to speak to the decision maker and he got Janet on the phone and she stated that ?unfortunately? they cannot return the deposit and that they have ?never? had this problem before. Of course I had already been told that they have had this problem before. I stated that this a very bad business decision.. I explained that if someone had shown me a sample of the color up front I could have made an ?informed decision? and that would be different.. As it was, I believed the sales person when they said they could match the color and was promised a screen door that would match mine. In good faith (not a good idea with this company) I gave them a $80 deposit. They cannot deliver the product that was promised and refuse to return the deposit. It is their problem when they show up without samples of the colors, not mine.
"I would like to start off by saying it is disappointing to see this review as I am the owner of SlideRight and we go above and beyond to please our customers. We service over 300 customers per month, and it’s disappointing to have a customer to not give us a fair report when we’ve done everything we can to please them. Our technician Daniel went to [Member's name removed] house to measure for a screen door. He showed her corner samples of the doors and let her choose the color. He informed her that because she has a custom Heritage door, neither color would match her door exactly, but the Almond color would be the closest match. Daniel also showed her pictures of an Almond colored door. The customer continually said that she “absolutely hated the door”. Daniel responded by saying “Do you only want a quote today, or do you want to order the door? If you do decide to order, we will require a deposit of $80 since it’s a special order item”. At that time, the customer decided to hold off on ordering the door, but later called the office and ordered the screen. When our technician came out to install the screen door, the customer was unhappy with the color she chose and demanded her money back. She called the office threatening to report us to Angie’s List, the BBB, and “Bad Mouth us” to all of her friends because she wasn’t able to get her deposit back. We informed her that because the screen doors are special order items, all deposits are non-refundable, as with any type of special order item. We informed her that if we were at fault, we’d be more than happy to refund her deposit, but this is the color she specifically chose and we ordered the door based on her choice. Our technician Clayton is one of our newer technicians and was misinformed about this being a “common issue”. Janet is our office manager and has been with the company for several years, and is very knowledgeable about our products and services. This is not a common issue and was a special circumstance where the customer had a custom colored door. We tried matching the color of the screen as closely as possible to the customer’s existing door; however we did inform her that in this circumstance, it would not be an exact match. I feel that we did everything we could to make sure she was aware of what she was getting, yet it was her choice to order the door anyway. Again, we strive to provide excellent service to all of our customers and are willing to do anything we can to ensure our customers are satisfied; however in this situation, we feel as though our customer was completely informed of what she was getting, and tried using Angies List as a tool to threaten us to get her deposit back. It’s unfortunate to have this review on our record and hope that customers will understand our reasoning as to why we made the decision to hold the deposit."
