We hired Arizona Blinds to personally sell us drapes in 2 rooms of our home. This included the drapery fabric, rods, and all hardware involved in installing drapes. We are not happy number one because during the site visit the sales man named Thomas Dawson clearly stated and sold us on the concept of not adding black out fabric to our drapes. He stated that based on the room dynamics and lighting they would not be necessary and the clothe backing that comes standard would block the sun. We trusted him as he said that he has done several installs and guaranteed we would be satisfied. On the day of install of course we noticed that light comes through the drapes and ruins the whole look of the drapes. Not only does light come in the rooms which is the whole reason we purchased the drapes but the look is not appealing. Also when the installers hung the drapes they hung the drapes in one room too high. When we complained they said they could adjust the drapes but only to a certain point without lowering the rod. If they lowered the rod they said they would not be responsible for the holes they placed in the drywall and I would have to fix at my expense. The drapes were obviously measured wrong and the rod was not placed in the proper position. My feeling is that when you spend almost 10,000.00. you should have c company with a competent salesman and installation team. Thomas Dawson was not even competent enough to recommend blackout backings on drapes and he sells them all day. The company cant even measure accurately and hang the curtains properly so that they don't fall short of floor and are sticking to the glass windows. I feel cheated out of a considerable amount of money and the company is rude and will not correct this at their expense. Please, if you are a consumer do not go to this business for your drapery and blind needs. They do not know what they are doing and will charge you a fortune and will not follow up when they do things wrong.
The designer that came was well prepared, very nice and had great information and ideas.
The work was being done on my mother's house after we'd had the house remodeled after she'd had a stroke. Her stroke severely impacted her ability to talk and made the consultation tedious at times but the designer was great.
We ordered blinds for several windows and shutters for 4 bedrooms.
I was advised at the time that due to the custom build nature of the shutters along with them having just moved to a new production facility, the normal time of 4-6 weeks could take up to 8 weeks.
Well, the blinds arrived within a few weeks and were just as ordered and looked great.
Installers were great, on time, professional and in and out.
The shutters are completely different story. The 8 weeks came and went and I didn't hear anything.
Finally got a message while out of town in September that the shutters would be ready Sept 20 or thereabouts.
September 20 came and went.
Finally around October 10 I got a call that the shutters were ready.
Unfortunately, my brother had grown tired of waiting and the people sleeping in bedrooms without shutters had told me they'd started looking elsewhere.
When we got things sorted out the install was set for done on November 4.
Install went very, very quickly and was nicely done. The shutters look great and the fit appears perfect.
While I can't praise the quality enough and how nice the people from AZ Blinds I dealt with for their service enough, given the over 3 months it took to get the shutters done was a huge issue. Little was done to advise us as to the status, beyond the one phone call (and that wasn't even right). It's disconcerting, to say the least, when you give a company several thousand $'s and you don't hear from them.
Overall, as stated, the quality and work is great. However, because of the extremely long wait time and lack of communication, I just cannot recommend them. If you're not pressed for time, then you're fine. If you need something within a couple months, my advice would be to look elsewhere.
Responding to the Provider Response: Yes, we are happy with the shutters, I made that clear. You claim that you called us "early on". No, you didn't.
What we were told, by your rep during the consultation - and she gave us the paper you'd printed out with this as well - was that you were moving to a new production facility and shutter orders would be delayed 4-6 weeks. In fact, I'm looking at the paper as I type this.
When our blinds arrived (on time) the installers told us, again, that it would be 2-4 weeks for the shutters. That was in June. There was NO contact from your company until September. And the message I received was that our shutters would be ready Sept 21. We didn't hear back from you until October 10.
I get the issues you have with your facilities. But, why is that my problem? If you are running on such a thin line that any little blip is going to cause a major disruption, as it appears to have based on what others have posted, you would do well to re-examine your business model. Customers don't like shelling out thousands of $'s only to wait and wait and wait for their purchase to be completed. If you'd actually called us, like you claim you did, there'd be no angst as at least you would have made some effort. But, you didn't.
I'm glad you took it upon yourselves to "stay the course and deliver the quality built shutter". Considering that is what we paid for, it's what you are supposed to do. Do not expect praise for doing what you say you will do.
You may well be installing thousands of feet of your product, but I can tell you it won't be in any of our houses ever again.
"I'm happy that you mentioned the high quality of the shutters we installed for you. We called you early on and explained to you that the shutters were going to be late. Something happened to the factory location we were in and had to move our shutter factory almost over night. It wasn't expected. Now, we could have "cheated" and installed cheap, imported "look-a-likes" and done that quickly. But we decided to stay the course and deliver you the quality built shutter that is the best in the marketplace. I am sorry for the delays and we're almost caught up on our production and we're back to installing literally thousands of sq. ft. of shutters a month and delivering the highest quality product in the market. If there are ever any issues or concerns with the products you've purchased from us, please don't hesitate to call us, we offer lifetime warranties."
"[member name removed], I am very sorry for the delay in your order. We were nothing but honest in that our factory had a major occurance take place that was unexpected and we were forced into moving our facility and in the process had to sub out factory space and it was extremely dificult. The positive, if there is any, is that our new facility is now capable of producing more and producing a better quality product for years. Thank you so much for your business. If there is anything you need to speak to me about, don't hesitate to call for me directly. Mike O'Daniel, Owner and President, Arizona Blinds, Shutters & Drapery."
The only issue is that the installer was a bit messy, leaving some debris behind and chipped paint on the drywall under the kitchen shades. It's a small area at least.
measure and give us a bid within a couple of days. They estimated 6 to 8
weeks for our shutters, after which we did get the bedroom shutters
installed. However, apparently the estimator had mismeasured for the
bathroom shutters and it took an additional month to get them made and
installed. If you are on a tight schedule, I would definitely think
twice about using them. Also, though the office gives you a time frame
for installation on a particular day, bank on the crew being at least two to three hours
late. Overall, we were not in a huge rush, so the delays really didn't
affect us. The quality of the shutters are excellent overall.
Agreement to purchase/finalization of contract: 3/23/2012Measurement appointment: 4/5/2012My call for status update: 5/17/2012Installation of shutters: 5/31/2012
While my shutters and outdoor blind have been installed, I'm still waiting on my honeycomb blinds/shades for my patio door. I've recently contacted AZ Blinds to find out the status of this piece, but again am disappointed that these have taken so long, and I have not been updated.
Now that my shutters are installed, I've noticed that the quality is not the greatest. The appearance is a bit 'plastic' looking, althought they are made of wood. I had plantation shutters in a prior home that were installed by the builder, and I'm disappointed that the quality and look isn't the same. If I had to do it over again, I would have identified the company used by my former home builder and leveraged that company instead. The mechanisms for the shutters are spotty - some are very tight and feel secure; others are very loose and the shutters will not stay in a particular position. In addition, when installed, the crew that came to my home left noticeable dirt marks on my stair carpeting (which had just been installed) and resulted in us having to clean and steam after they left. While I anticipate some dirt and dust from workers coming through my home, I would have anticipated the crew doing a better job of ensuring they didn't track dirt, etc. through my new home.
