I can't say enough about the excellent quality of the care and compassion that Dr Wiekhorst and his staff have always provided over the years. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and efficient. Dr Wiekhorst, who is the owner, as well as all of his associate veterinarians and vet techs are very knowledgeable and proficient at explaining procedures in layman's terms. For a case in point, when I first went to Foothills Veterinary, I brought in my very sick 8 year old cat, who was diagnosed with feline leukemia. The prognosis was not good as in the majority of cases, feline leukemia is usually fatal. However, with the initial course of treatment, she fully recovered. She was then perfectly healthy until six years later, when she became very ill again from complications. She was hospitalized at the Foothills facility for several days and once again made a complete recovery. Thereafter she was perfectly healthy until she passed away at the age of 18. Incidentally, at a different facility where I had to take my dog Ruby for an ultrasound 7 months ago, I was told that she had 6 months to live due to her bladder tumor. I took her to Foothills where I was given a prescription for treatment of her symptoms. Since then the tumor has actually decreased in size. Other than some incontinence, she is incredibly healthy and energetic for a 13 year old dog. Based on my overall experience with Foothills Veterinary over the course of many years, I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for compassionate quality health care for their pets.

The previous weekend my Rottweiler Mikko became very ill, she broke out in sores up and down her back and was very irritable. Dr Wiekhorst saw her early on Monday morning and was able to process blood and urine immediately to arrive at a diagnosis. Within two days of starting antibiotic and pain medication Mikko responded and is now once again in picture perfect health. Dr. Weikhorst is a very caring vet, but not only that; his charges are much less than other animal clinics in the area. We are very pleased with the compassionate and effective care our animals receive there and will continue to use Foothills as our vet of choice.
