I took my dog here after she had swallowed a portion of my headset. I didn't realize what she had done or was wrong with her. I called them at 3am and let them know I would be bringing her in. EVERYONE was very nice and very patient. They pushed a variety of tests but I didn't have them all done. n the end I was sent home after some pain meds and fluid bolus.
My dog didn't respond at all to the treatment so I took her back 12 hours later. An ultrasound showed the cause of her problems. I met with the surgeon who was very well qualified. We talked about prognosis and potential complications. My dog is recovering nicely a week after the procedure was performed.
VCA was pricey but this is an emergency clinic and I understand they will be more costly than a typical vet. I chose to go to VCA first because they have all the needed equipment for xrays, blood work right at the location. They see emergencies everyday and I felt very comfortable leaving my pet with them.
Some may look at them negatively because you must sign the estimated price document and put down 50% of the money before treatment is done. I was just happy I'm in the position I could pay to have my dog saved. I understand this is the cost of doing business.
My ONLY negative comment is that when I visited during the middle of the night, I thought the individual room I was put in could have used a good cleaning. I was a little shocked that the floor needied mopping. When I returned during the day, each room I visited was very clean.

They were very good. They were kind of pricey. I think we took an animal there to be put down. They're open 24 hours. They're an emergency center, that's why we used them. They're close by. They were really considerate. They were available. They easily spoke with us over the telephone regarding the animal. They didn't hold back on trying to help us make a decision as to whether to bring her in or not. They seemed really professional. We really appreciated the fact that they were there. I know I've used them a lot. I think that they're associated with the ASPCA. I've used them for checking animals to see if they have chips. They're always happy to help me with that. The only thing that was off was when we decided to cremate the animal and get her ashes back, the young man was trying to upsell us on the urn when we only wanted the basic one. Everything else was all about the animal and being considerate toward us and what we were going through.

Our sweet cat took a dive out of a 2nd story window while chasing bugs and broke her back leg in two places, tore her toe-nails out, and was in shock. The techs immediately took her back and began a work-up for surgery. The doctor and manager spoke directly with me as I was very distraught after finding her and helped calm me down and worked with our finances to make sure our sweet kitty would be well taken care of. They replaced one bone with a rod, repaired the other bone, placed her in a cast, and sent her home. Even with a slow recovery the check-ups were positive and she healed very quickly. We've been to this location for several emergencies over 7 years due to accidental poisonings, kidney problems, allergic reactions, broken bones, and old age between 6 animals. We've had nothing but wonderful experiences and outcomes at each visit and we have very healthy animals with VCA to thank. We use their Scottsdale boarding facility, have used the three Mesa locations for our checkups and shots, and even were so lucky to have the Dr. who helped keep our 18 year old cat alive and healthy available when it was his time to go. They made sure we had a foot impression as a keepsake and took care of the cremation to help ease the pain. I have spent two honeymoons at this location to keep our babies healthy and would never think of visiting another emergency clinic.

Our overall experience was excellent. I say this despite the fact that we lost our dog to kidney failure. EVERY veterinarian, technician, and receptionist we encountered was highly trained, compassionate and professional. We received the news from our regular veterinarian that our dog had sudden and unexplainable kidney failure on Christmas Eve. They advised us to transport him to VCA Emergency in Mesa, who provided him with excellent care. They permit you to visit your pet in the ICU, and even called us at 2 a.m. On Christmas morning with his lab results. If your pet is questionably ill, I would advise you seek a referral to this clinic from your vet. The internal medicine specialty group is excellent. And unlike your regular vet, they can get lab results back in 30 minutes. I highly recommend this facility to all pet owners. I am also a healthcare provider, and I found this facility to be clean, unpretentious and efficient. When it came time to say goodbye to our beloved dog, Dr. Brian Sessink was remarkably compassionate and informative. This experience was top notch.

The meeting to discuss the problem leading to the euthanasia was pleasant, and the description of the problem was thorough and very understandable. We paid for a cremation and were told the remains would be returned to us in about two weeks. After hearing nothing for 6 weeks, we called the clinic and discovered that our dog was still in the freezer! The paperwork hadn't been processed. No apology, no "We're sorry." We hope to conclude the unsatisfactory dealing within the promised two weeks...again. My initial report was very negative due to a processing error on the part of this business. Further contact with the business brought about a satisfactory remedy. The medical staff is excellent;clerical procedures are getting tightened up.

THEY ARE AN EMERGENCY CLINIC SO THEY ONLY PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC TESTS AT GREAT COST, BUT DON'T TREAT PATIENTS. I WOULD NEVER GO BACK TO THIS CLINIC.
