Terri's Consign and Design Furnishings

From the initial phone call to Terri's, I was told to call their main office to speak with someone about pricing the sofa for selling, without it being seen. That should have been my first red flag for this company. After voicing my concern about Terri's not viewing the sofa before a price was to be determined, the lady I spoke with suggested I send pics thru email. I did so. She called me back after viewing the photos, and told me my sofa would be priced well over $1000 in store, as it was in excellent condition, only a few years old, and a high end sofa purchased for nearly double that. I opted to have their delivery service pick-up the sofa for $85. After the store received my sofa, I received a call from the store on Greenfield where my sofa was going to be consigned at. The woman there told me that there was no way my sofa would be priced at $1000, and suggested it be listed at $400 to start. She said she did not think it would sell for anything above that. Which was a far cry from the "well over $1000" list price I was given from the main office woman I spoke with while deciding if I would consign the sofa with Terri's. My sofa was there and I had already paid $85 to have it taken there; I was not happy. I spent the next 25 minutes trying to agree on a decent price for the sofa to be listed at. Knowing I could sell the sofa myself for at least $400 on craigslist, I was not going to list it for $400 with them and only receive 45% of that. Ridiculous. The saleswoman finally, reluctantly, agreed to list it around $600. My sofa did not sell during the three months I had it consigned there. When I went to pick it up near the end of the consignment agreement period, I was shocked to see the other pieces that my sofa was being consigned with. This particular store obviously caters to a different clientele than those who would be looking for a sleek high end piece of furniture. And that is putting it nicely. What a waste of time, money and energy it was to try to consign with this company. I would not recommend them at all.
