The service man gave me an estimate and told me it would probably take about a week to get the parts in for the repair. He called me the next day and told me it was ready. I have dealt with this store for a few years. They have serviced my Hoover Steam Cleaner as well as yearly service on my Riccar. THANK YOU!
Description of Work: I bought a Riccar Supralite about 3 years ago. I had bumped the vacuum cleaner into a heavy metal ladder and broken the sole plate and the bottom plate.

The box was sealed. I used it to wash my tile floor that day. It worked great. I looked for the warranty card to register it online. There wasn't one, just an Owners Manual which stated "Remanufactured". I was stunned as I believed I had bought a NEW one. I went online and saw that the new ones cost $139 model FH40010 at Walmart, and with tools for $162 model FH40030. I called him that same day with my concerns about new vs. remanufactured, and he said "it is new, just that they take left over parts from different models at the factory and put it together and sell it as remanufactured". I told him I was under the impression I had bought a NEW one, and he said "sorry, but I thought I made it clear it was "reman" (ie. remanufactured)". I told him no, I didn't recall hearing that. I told him about the prices at Walmart and that I should have gotten the tools with the one he sold to me for $160, to which he replied "They don't even sell them with tools anymore, no one uses them and they lost or get in the way". I told him they sell them with tools at Walmart, and he said "I don't know about that, must be older models they got from somewhere". I told him I noticed there is no warranty on my FloorMate, he said "Oh sure there is, one year factory & here of course". Later I noticed the factory pamphlet said six months. I stewed about this for a few days, went out of town for 5 days, got back home and called Customer Service at Hoover as listed on the pamphlet. The gentleman there stated remanufactured is used, the unit had been returned to the store for some reason and sent back to the factory where they replace parts, go over it and clean it up and then sell it for less. He said they sell my model from there for $79.99 with $4.95 shipping. I almost fell off of my chair. I was insulted and angry this man at Sew & Vac had DOUBLED the price and led me to believe it was NEW. I decided to take it back and ask for a refund on the 20th of June. This is what transpired - - - Me: I'm bringing back this FloorMate and I want my money back. Him: what is wrong with it? Me: nothing, I just want my money back Him: Has it been used? Me: yes, once Him: well, I ....why do you want to return it? Me: I'm not happy with the deal you made with me selling a remanufactured one when I thought I was buying new. I called Hoover and they said remanufactured is used and they sell them for $79 and you charged me twice that amt. That's a 100% mark up. I would like my money back. Him: No! I'm not going to do that, I don't like the way you are talking to me. (shoving the receipt at me) Me: What way am I talking to you? Him: you're saying I'm a liar, you're calling me a liar! that I sold you a used one instead of a new one, I'm not gonna do it! (refund) Me: I did not call you a liar, I said you led me to believe it was new and you charged me twice as much as it is worth. I would like my money back please. Him: (pausing)....When did you buy this? (looking at receipt) The 9th! it's been too long, you had 7 days to bring it back. Me: I went on vacation, I couldn't.... Him: That's not my problem! Me: so you aren't going to give me my money back? Him: no, no I'm not! Me: well, you're not going to like the reviews I write about this. Him: THANK YOU! Me: you have nothing to thank me for. I thought this was an honest place and have trusted taking my business there over the years. I just found out that this store WAS BOUGHT by Richard Coffey 3 yrs ago. So I was no longer doing business with the people who owned it before. I liked giving the small "Mom and Pop" business my patronage. After this incident I won't be going back! I don't mind the product being a little higher priced than Walmart, and sold by the factory and other dealers for 100% mark up??!!! and USED to boot. I will take my business to the other Sew & Vac in Gilbert, where I know I will get an honest deal.
Description of Work: On June 9th, 2012 I took my 7 yr old Hoover FloorMate in to be repaired at Sun Valley Sew & Vac at 319 S Power Rd, Mesa AZ. The gentleman who owns the business, Richard Coffey, said it would cost approximately $79 to repair it. He said the new ones sell for around $180 and he showed me the floor model and its features. I said how much would it cost if I traded in my old one, could he give me a better deal? He came up with "I will eat the tax, take your trade in, and give it to you for $160." So I purchased the Hoover FloorMate model H3040 from him, & bought a "Dirt Devil hand-vac" too. He rang them up and handed me the receipt from the cash register, which was extremely faint so I asked for a better copy, he wrote it up on an invoice. It simply said: "1 Floormate; 1 D.D. 0944." and the price only on the bottom stating $203.61 No tax nor individual prices. On the cash register receipt it stated: Vacuum Labor $160, misc vacuum $39.99, tax $3.62.
