My experience was excellent from start to finish with this company. They were reasonably priced, professional, accomodating and did everything they said they would do and more. Really a great experience and I would reccommend Roofstar Arizona to anyone looking for a roofing contractor in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.
I interviewed approximately 8 contractors for this job. I am very discerning and not easy to please. I decided on Roofstar Arizona initially because they were willing to do the two layered underlayment system that I wanted using the product that I had chosen.. for a reasonable price. They were the last company I interviewed, so I already knew exactly what I wanted done and had an idea of the pricing I was willing to pay.
After I met with the estimator, I had a good feeling that I would hire Roofstar Arizona for the project. I decided to call the owner of the company Jeff before I made my final decision. I spoke to Jeff that evening and went over the specifics of the job asked a lot of questions. I asked if they could start the job as quickly as possible. Jeff was very gracious and accomodating and answered all of my questions with specificity.
Jeff also assured me that Roofstar could start my job in a timely fashion. Instead of sending the deposit in the mail, I decided to drop off the deposit to the Roofstar Arizona office the next morning. I met the office staff and really felt comfortable with the people and the company.
Roofstar Arizona started my job as promised soon thereafter. Joseph and his team did an excellent job and finished in a timely manner. The crew was professional and did a superb job of keeping the jobsite clean and removing nails from the property.
Roofstar Arizona is a great company all around. Overall an excellent experience and I highly reccommend them...
The work included recoating the entire flat foam roof. The entire process took three days to complete. Day 1 involved power washing the entire roof, Day 2 involved applying a base coat, and Day 3 involved applying a top coat.
I will continue to call Roofstar for any future roof work and they come highly recommended.
The estimator, James, was very pleasant, thorough, and did a great job of explaining what was needed to repair our roof. His quoted work was in line with the damage that we were aware of, i.e., he did not add any work that was not necessary. We thought that the quoted cost was reasonable considering the amount of work to be done and decided to go with Roofstar. We are happy that we did. Juan Diaz and his crew did an outstanding job with the repair and cleanup. Everything was accomplished per the quote and at the quoted price. We are very happy and will recommend Roofstar to any neighbors needing roof work.
Awesome. This company is professional and they care about their quality of work and the customer. Mike Rine came out pretty quick after our call and was the first contractor to return our call of several I called. We ended up evaluating five contractor bids.
Mike was great, totally professional. He showed me where the leak was potentially coming from and what they would need to do to take care of it. They also bid on repairing the flat roof. Our roof was the original from 1986. So we knew time was limited and we were also considering re-roofing based on the previous leak history. Mike thought we could go another year or two, as we are counting our pennies. Mike explained everything thoroughly, regardless of the fact I had no roofing background. This was a major plus for Roofstar compared to other contractors who did not explain things.
After reviewing 4 other bids from other A rated Angie's contractors, we decided to call Mike back to bid on the whole roof instead of just the repair. We felt he was trust worthy, detailed and honest. He still encouraged us we could wait another 2 years, but that since this was a good time for us with a 27 year old roof to move forward in doing the re-roofing now.
As requested, Mike submitted a second proposal, this time for re-roofing instead of repair and repair to the flat patio roof and recoat. Any questions we had Mike answered and documented it in an email. A few things stood out:
1. They don't subcontract. This was a plus. The employees are theirs.
2. Manufacturer provides a 10 yr warranty on their underlayment material.
3. Roofstar provided a 10 year workmanship warranty.
They did an awesome job. They were immaculate, every day the property was cleaned up and left SPOTLESS!
At the end of the job the company owner Jeff Knudson came out and personally inspected the job and personally took care of a minor item I noted.
I want to make a special note they were very conscious we had two small dogs in our backyard at times and they all dutifully closed our gate.
Juan was the lead on the job, and handled everything on the daily basis. Roofstar's owner stopped by during the job a couple of times to review the status and at the end did a final inspection, this really impressed me. James came back and did a small touch up I requested. The whole team was very good.
However, Roofstar willingly spent time via telephone and email answering my questions and explaining some of the differences in the processes and materials used in the various quotes.
I recently moved to AZ from upstate NY. Roofs in NY are very different from roofs in AZ, so I needed more explanation than I would have needed in the northeast.
Roofstar's price was neither the lowest nor the highest. Once I decided to use them, they set a date, arrived on time, were polite and helpful, cleaned up the work site each day, and finished on time.
I recommend them without hesitation.
Within a week Jeff called to confirm a next day start and a 2 day job. We met the next day to confirm the type of work to be done and got started right away. The communication was excellent as Jeff has his own labor force, who were more than happy to talk about the roof and the job. No subs were use and I liked that...a whole bunch. I arrived on Friday to inspect the job and Santiago, hope I got his name right, was there working hard and described some "extra" work he had done on the repairs, that wasn't in the work order.
I received the invoice and a 5 year warranty on the job from Jeff.
Truly a pleasure to work with people who care about the quality and performance. A+ all the way around.

Within a matter of minutes I was contacted Mr. Jeff Knudson, the owner. I provided Jeff with the inspection reports. Later the same day an estimate of the cost for repairs, as outlined in the inspection report was received. In his estimate, Jeff said that he could make the repairs the next day. I informed him that I wanted to obtain two additional estimates.
I received a second estimate that was $135.00 more for the same repairs. The third estimate was scheduled, however the estimator called in sick and was unable to keep the appointment. When this occurred, I contacted Jeff and told him that I wanted Roofstar to make the repairs. Two hours later, a crew of three Roofstar employees arrived to make the repairs. The crew went immediately to work and completed the repairs, which was documented in a Statement of Completion, that came with the invoice for payment.
The entire experience starting with Melody, the receptionist, Juan the supervisor of the repair crew, and the follow up communication with Jeff the owner, was outstanding and reminiscent of the way business used to be conducted when customer service was a priority and the backbone of any successful business.
