General Remodeling
$53,850
I will like to make people aware that I paid this contractor Riggs Restoration, $12,000 to complete my home expansion of the living room, kitchen, final phase of my expansion project and they disappeared and never came back or finished my home project, and here is why; During the phases of my home project some exclusions were made in the contract by the contractor because I purchased, tiles, paint, and the contractor did not have to do my new porch cover. The contractor agreed to exclude these things from my home project contract, but did not discount the exclusions prices from the initial total price of my home project and every time I asked for the adjustment in price the owner and project manager ignored my requests. That said, I called the contractor and project manager, text, emailed over and over and kept ignoring my request for the adjustment for the total price of my project. To make the story short, after I paid them the last $12,000 to complete my project, and told them, I was holding the last payment of $5,850 I had to pay, so they decided that disappearing was the best they could do to avoid making the adjustment to the project price, so they disappeared. The owner never even as of today, called my wife or myself to provide us as customers, an honest ethical justification for not completing the project after they took the money, but we already knew why, buy that’s ok! So they took the last money, and since they had no interest in adjusting the total project price, they never came back or had the guts to call us with an explanation, therefore folks out there, be aware of these so call contractors that promises so many good things and then like to abandon the projects when you put them on the SPOT. Ah, and ensure you get an initial breakdown with prices in case you exclude anything from the project. I ended finishing the work with my wife and the help of others, and we forgot about the matter, and we do not lose sleep over it at all, it’s only money. I lost more loved fellow soldiers down range in different missions, and that for me is a bigger loss than money, I consider those losses as a wound for life, they were also part of my family as well, RIP folks. Anyways, like I always say, what goes around comes around and I leave it to that! In addition, during the project that started around mid-March, 2019, they worked 2 days out of the week and then came back a week later to continue with my home expansion project, they also promised that the project will take 2 1/2 to 3 months to be completed, however at the 5th month, everything was still in a limbo and they decided to abandon the project after they were paid $12,000 to complete the remaining of the project as I mentioned above and never came back. I honestly thought the owner as the head of the business would courtesy call us to inform us that our adjustments to the project price was going to be resolved moving forward, but the owner never did or showed up at my home to discuss the matter at all, and that is very disappointing. Also, as a ripped-off retired military Veteran and customer, I tried to leave a review in the Riggs Restoration web page of our horrible experience with this contractor, and there is no way to leave a review, because the web page is not designed to take bad reviews, only good ones, and the good ones have to be mailed in, or else they might have plenty of negative reviews because no business is perfect and reviews help businesses grow and fix were has to be fixed, but instead when you check their web page, all you see are only good testimonials that could even be from friends, or even family members, no negative reviews at all, not even one, it’s all a joke folks. One last advice folks, ensure you are monitoring that material used in your projects is new material because the project manager handling my home expansion project also tried to put old worn out, smelly, and maybe full of termites from another home, and wanted to put that insulation in between my new studs, before installing the sheetrock boards, however when I complained about the old insulation and demanded new insulation, since I was paying for new material, not reused, so he got new packed in the bag insulation, but if I was not monitoring my project, he would off sneaked in the old insulation, so be aware of that folks. I honestly wanted to share with all of you out the bad experience we had with this company, because companies like this should not be operating like this, just doing what they want, it is very disrespectful, dishonest, unethical, and we have to call it out as it is, because it is our money and unfortunately this is how some so called contractor’s operate. It is Wrong and Unacceptable, sorry for the long statement, but I had to call it out just like it happened to us, we are decent people and do not have to invent anything to hurt anyone, we do not need to either, its only money, but our money was taken dishonestly with no explanation, and it can happen to any of you folks out there as well, so please be aware. Please research well the contractor you are choosing with BBB, Home Advisor, Angies List, Google listing, Yellow Pages, with all these web sites that are out there to protect us the customers, so please look at their REVIEWS and get everything, I mean everything in writing, we do not want the same to happen to you, thanks for listening. Sincerely, Disappointed Home Owner
