Mattress Firm

The initial sale was typical. I walk in and see a great deal on a close out floor model mattress; I have wanted one for for years but didn't want to pay the outrageous price, now it's purchase seems reasonable. Within minutes I am ready to leave, with delivery scheduled for two days. At eight PM on the day of purchase I get a call asking me to switch to an inferior model for "the SAME PRICE" but encouraged by the salesman who's comparing the floor model with the inferior mattress saying "it's new, and comes with a 90 day warranty." (which the floor model didn't). The only reason I was given for the switch was, because "...it would be better for the store." I at first said okay, then I did the math and considered the mattress was not the quality I had waited so long for, so within five minutes I called him back and said to bring me the floor model I originally purchased. He agreed and we hung up. Within 15 minutes he called me again and offered a mattress pad also, if I would just take the inferior model. Again I said, "if I change my mind I'll call you; otherwise, just deliver the original purchase as scheduled." I waited until three PM on the day of delivery with no confirmation, so I called the store; my mattress had missed the delivery truck and there was no way to get it out today. I work 12-15 hour days, work's been slow and I've not been able to make my hours for about two months now. I was called in today but couldn't go because I was waiting for the scheduled delivery. Now I have to take the chance of turning down another opportunity to work if I get called in tomorrow; that's 75% of my weekly take home pay lost because of this stores antics. I was told if I want to stay at a motel, or have a nice dinner they would take it off the price of the mattress. We settled on dropping the delivery charge of $69 which pales in comparison to the money I lost by not working today or tomorrow. My great deal turned out to be a regular purchase because of their poor management. They may not have got full price, but I lost two days work, which made my deal almost void. I don't recommend them if they habitually pull the bait and switch card to make a sale. I think it's illegal anyway.
