The owner David has been with the company since 1992 and he has been in the film industry for 35 years. David has owned the company since 1998! His wife Leslie has been with the company for over 20 years. Once the work was done it was excellent. However communication and logistics were rough. We went several weeks without any phone calls being returned. The price at the end was almost double the estimate and our angies list coupon was scorned.

Provider's location and storefront look very unassuming but I was surprised when I went inside and saw how nice their setup was. They offered a good choice of products and knowledgeable staff. Excellent work, done promptly and professionally. Convenient hours. Would definitely use these folks again.

Made in the Shade Window tinting was very prompt in contacting me after I bought their deal. We easily found a day/time we could both agree on. Upon arrival the staff was helpful, and friendly and made us (my daughter and myself) feel very comfortable with their services. We selected the upgrade and total out the door was about $110. It was done in a few hours, exactly what we were told, and there were no surprises. The tinting cured to a beautiful, dark, unstreaky look and is keeping the car cooler. This was a very positive experience from start to finish. I would recommend this company to anyone. I found them professional, and felt they provided a quality service. Do not hesitate to patronize them.

"Not sure what we can do to make it right if we are not able to get a re do scheduled for you. Called and attempted repeatedly. I am also confused about install date as it keeps changing and moving more recent, as does the review date! All sun control films we provide come with a very detailed Written Lifetime Warranty ( as long as original purchaser owns the Home) from the Film Manufacture and as a Arizona Contractors we provide a 2 year Labor Warranty which we provide a description of on your invoice In Writing! We are always willing to do whatever we an do within reason to make things right! Mistakes are going to happen but that's what the warranty is for! Also, having a potential issue in the film doesn't equal a ruined window."

Installation went fine and product is okay, but he ruined the shades that were on the window and would not take responsibility! He was extremely unprofessional and condescending. By the time he finished whining and denying responsibility I just wanted him out of the house. I would never use them again, or recommend them to anyone!

"We are saddened you feel so negative about us and our service to you. I remember that discovering Your blinds were in bad condition when we started the job, having been extremely Sun damaged. So bad that they did not want to operate and they were was great risk to remove and replace them and this was not and is usually not part of the Service for free, and the condition warranted replacement. I worked around the issues as best I could being as careful as I could. In that situation I have to stand my ground when I am not to blame. I remember we offered to get new blinds at our cost and install at no charge. I even offered to show you the invoice or allow you to pay the manufacture directly. That offer still stands. Ironically if the windows had been tinted from the beginning the blinds would have lasted many times longer. As I said, my offer stands as previously stated and you may call me directly at 602-499-5518"

They were reasonably pleasant people to deal with, although the father/owner was much more tolerant of my being around during the installation and asking questions than was the helper (who I think was the son). There was some clouding that occurred between the window glass and the film which could be seen when there was direct sunlight through the glass, but not otherwise. Before the job started I was told this would probably occur and was assured it would go away within a month or so. By that time time, though, the sun shifted sufficiently so that I no longer got direct sunlight through the windows. I'll have to wait until next spring when I once again get direct sunlight through the windows to see if the clouding disappeared. Interestingly enough, however, the clouding is specifically excluded from the warranty so it will be interesting to see what happens when I once again have direct sunlight through the window. Assuming clouding isn't an issue, the only complaint I have is that I found out a few months after the job was complete that there is a goverment energy efficiency rebate available if certain types of window tinting film are used. I wasn't told about this at the time of the job or thereafter and when I heard about it and contacted the company to see if the film they installed qualifies for the rebate they did no more than give me the web addresses for the film manufacturer and the IRS. Any company that sells window tint should know about any such rebates and whether their film qualifies. They should also inform their customers about such rebates, even if the rebate wasn't available until after the job was completed (sometimes the rebates are retroactive). They know who there customers are and what film was installed. The company should call if a rebate becomes available.

After reviewing the ratings of local window tinting firms on Angie's List, I stopped by Made in the Shade in Mesa, AZ for technical advice on the work and a price quote. The quote was higher than two other firms that I had visited, but the discussion was more helpful than what I had received elsewhere (e.g., tinting of moon roof glass not recommended as AZ heat often leads to breakage). The work was completed in about two hours, as promised, and carries a lifetime warranty against cracking, crazing, demetallizing, delaminating or color change. This work was performed on August 12, 2008. I purposely delayed report submission to see if any problems developed during a 6,000 mile driving vacation up into Montana/Idaho, plus several automatic car washings. No problems to date, and I've noticed a distinct comfort difference when driving this (my wife's) car in the AZ heat/glare vs. my car (no tinting). Good product & good installation!

They were recommended to me by a co-worker. I contacted them via their website for an estimate and they responded promptly. I called them back and made an appointment. I dropped the car off at their office, and they had it done within the estimated time. The work quality is excellent, with no flaws, lines, or bubbles.

David Ewing, owner, scheduled an appointment and gave estimated costs before he left. The window film was installed the same week as I called to schedule the appointment. The workers showed up in the specified time, and finished 1/2 hour past the estimated completion time. All were thorough, neat and courteous, and in contact with David when questions arose.

Excellent. Owner of the company came to give estimate; he was very professional and his packet of company info included every document I wanted to see. Specifically, as an example, Certificate to do business in AZ, liability insurance proof, letter stating no BBB complaints, etc. Estimate was better than two others. Both owner and installer came when promised. Installer did an excellent job, left no mess, was polite and clean cut looking. Film is nearly impossible to discern, no bubbles or poorly cut edges.
