Cleanup Fire And Water

Beware of Cleanup Fire and Water's outrageous overcharges. Our garage water heater leaked into our family room. Cleanup Fire and Water came out to dry a portion of carpeting against the wall where the water heater leaked, approximately 3 feet by 13 feet. They charged $6,634.95! I could have replaced all the carpeting in my house for that! Of course our insurance company deemed the charges billed to be excessive; they sent out two independent companies for a second opinion; the bids were $891.74 and $2,170.69. Our insurance company paid Cleanup Fire and Water the higher bid. Now months later, out of the blue (with no correspondence from Cleanup Fire and Water) they are coming after us for the $4,464.26 balance. They sent the debt to a collections agency; that means the hassle of calls, paperwork, not to mention that it will affect our excellent credit rating. I now see Cleanup Fire and Water has an F rating on the BBB website with complaints just like ours (the Home Depot installer recommended this company so we trusted the source). Not any more, we will search on-line for consumer reviews before we hire anyone. Thank you Angie's List for giving consumers a voice.
