I have a home warranty, which includes the garage door opener. I have had trouble in the past with the door not opening, and the home warranty company sent Cactus Garage Doors which ordered and installed a new antenna/receiver for my old opener. That was about two years ago.
I started having problems again at the beginning of this year. First American sent out Cactus Garage Doors, and when the tech got here, he told me my opener was too old to fix it properly, and they would ask First American to replace it. I had read alot about how radio frequencies are increasingly causing problems with garage door openers. I asked what it would cost to upgrade to the LiftMaster model that I had read was probably the best garage door opener, with rolling code technology, etc. It was $125 on top of the $60 service charge. Since the cost to just get this on my own was about $300 at best, I felt this was worth it.
I was not going to be available when they could come out, but they told me to just leave the garage door unlocked (disconnected from opener) and they would come in and install it. They did so, and left the instructions and openers in the garage, with the garage doors locked.
I love my new LiftMaster opener, it works every time, and the operation is very smooth. It was easy to work with Cactus Garage Doors, and they were pleasant. Not all companies that the home warranty service sends out are good, but I think Cactus Garage Doors is.

The owner came out and gave a quotation that I thought was fair and honest. When the service guy came to do the installation, the first thing he told my wife was that he couldn't do the install because material in the garage was not moved back 8 feet. We had not been told that, prior to his showing up. Then, after the install, we had to call them back because the door would not stay up, it fell down on my wife's head (she was not a happy camper.) They did come back and fixed the door so that it did work.

We couldn't open our garage door and we were anxious to get it fixed. Cactus responded quickly, arrived as promised and got the job done quickly. We were impressed with their knowledge, fairness and professionalism. I would recommend them to anyone.

Through our home warranty policy this company came out to put in a new garage door opener. By the next day it was not working. When we called at 4:15 pm the next day the owner answered the phone and said they were closed for the day and would not even take down a call back number. The next day we got hold of the company and they told us they could only come out in a week (a week from the day they installed it). I asked them why they took the job from the home warranty company when they are only in the area once a week and the owner had no answer. I asked him how he would feel if someone came to fix something in his house but could not come back for a week when it broke within 24 hours and again he had no answer. The company is in Mesa, Arizona and we live in Scottsdale, so it is not like we are that far away. The service was VERY VERY poor.

He called right away and came out which was very nice. We couldn t get the door open and they were able to help us out of the garage. They did an excellent job and I would recommend them to other people. There were no problems with the insulation and they were professional every step of the way.

It went great from the first phone call. I got a human being and not an answering machine. They promised me a morning appointment and arrived between 9 and 10 am. They provided me an accurate estimate on the phone prior to arrival. The workman was courteous, professional and efficient. He completed the work in less than 1/2 hr.

Cactus Garage Doors had the job completed in under 3 hours from first contact to end. Their price for this work was more than $100.00 less than estimates given by other businesses. The ability of this organization to respond in a timely manner at a reasonable cost was binomial. The professionalism of the office staff and technician speak well of this organization. Highly recommend this company.

It went great! Showed up on time each time; once for estimate, then for installation. Cleaned up their area after installation.

THE COMPANY CAME OUT TO FIX THE MOTOR. THEY COULD NOT FIX IT SO THEY REPLACED IT. THE MOTOR THEY USED WAS VERY CHEAP AND DID NOT WORK. THEY NEEDED TO COME BACK OUT AND FIX. THIS TOOK OVER 2 MONTHS TO FINALLY HAVE THEM REPLACE THE NEW SYSTEM WITH A QUALITY SYSTEM. THEY WERE UNPROFESSIONAL. THEY CANCELLED APPOINTMENTS BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO "BUSY". THEY ALSO HAD A HARD TIME RETURNING PHONE CALLS. I WOULD NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!
Response from CACTUS GARAGE DOORS INC
"I WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED TO KNOW THIS MEMBER''S NAME TO LOOK UP THE DIFFICULTIES THEY HAD. WE WORK WITH A LOT OF HOME WARRANTY COMPANIES AND HAVE TO FOLLOW THEIR CONTRACTS TO THE LETTER. THIS MEANS HAVING TO CONTACT THE WARRANTY COMPANY, TELLING THEM WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND GETTING AN AUTHORIZATION TO REPAIR, IF OVER $100. RARELY, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED, WE WILL GET A BAD MOTOR IN SHIPMENT. IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS CUSTOMER HAD A SPECIALTY MOTOR THAT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE (COMPANY WENT OUT OF BUSINESS) AND THAT MAY HAVE ALSO BEEN PART OF THE DELAY. I AGAIN WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THIS MEMBER''S NAME SO I CAN LOOK INTO THIS SITUATION. I AM SORRY IF THIS MEMBER HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE AND APOLOGIZE TO THEM FOR THE DELAY IN SERVICES THEY MAY HAVE RECEIVED."
