BYTS Computer Repair

Absolutely the BEST!  First time I was in there with an old XP that picked up a virus, I ended up completely cleaning all the drives only to find out the original restore disk wouldn't work.  They talked about options and gave me suggestions on how I could fix it myself - all out of the goodness of their hearts.  Just recently took that comp back in because even though I bought a new OS I couldn't get the comp to work.  Forgot I had changed out the motherboard a few years back and didn't have a disk fir that.  They  got this old machine working again and added some memory - now it works better than my much newer HP laptop.

This did not go well because for a simple service of running diagnostics they took over 2 days to do.  They told me in the beginning they would have answer by noon time next day.  I called and then they said they would get back to me by 3 pm. I called at 4 pm they said they needed more time.  I called again  the next morning said still not working properly and they wanted to try a few more test.  OK, later that afternoon  I called and asked them what they found. I was told not working couldn't find the problem windows store still would not work.and some apps would not work.  I asked them if this could be repaired and the answer they gave they would need fresh install and I would possibly end up losing data.  I just told them I would come and get my computer.  I asked them how much I owed and it was $49 dollar charge.  For a diagnostic service which they could not tell me what happened except that Microsoft has problem with Windows 10 and windows store getting corrupted and that it is a common problem..  Wow, but they took my money and charged me for something they already knew about. Why they could not have told me in the beginning that Windows 10 has issues.  Well I repaired the computer myself using information I found on the internet and you tube. Yes it is a common problem and the fix is not that difficult to perform.  Took me less than an hour. I did have to reload some software but the problem with Windows Store was repaired. In fact I am typing this review on the same computer. I am giving this service a big thumbs down. Now, I am not a novice when it comes to computers I was under time constraints and had many things going on. I still needed a computer though and chose to get it repaired, I figured my time was more valuable and that they would be able to diagnose and repair for a decent price. In my opinion $100 or less especially if it was not a hardware issue, it was not. I got the impression that for an additional charge they would get it working anywhere from $149 to$199 but no guarantees.  Heck no guarantees then why are they in business just to take money for bad service.  I do however admit they were polite courteous. They just were not that good.

They always run a diagnostic check which is great. All my components were working fine except the power supply. Which is the reason I brought it there in the first place. It wouldn't turn on.
I brought it in at noon on tuesday and had it back by 10am on wednesday. complete with a new power pack supply.
I had a great conversation with these guys and I can tell that they know their stuff when it comes to computers. I will certainly use them again when the needs arise.

Computer is now useable and responsive.
