Pulte has beautiful spacious floor plans. The garage space is the best in the area. Most plans have walk-in closets and that's great. Additional bedrooms are a good size in most of the plans, also another must have these days. The homes are energy efficient. Based on this we decided to have a home built even though we did not want to live where there is an HOA. The sales people in the office were very professional, knowledgeable and always got answers for us. Our problem lies in the workmanship of the home. There were several obvious building issues with the home while being built and after numerous attempts to get these fixed by way of calls, emails and face to face discussions they were not addressed and during the final walk through when the light bulb finally went on things had to be ripped out (tiles, drywall etc)and be redone in order to fix the issue. This makes it of a lessor quality when things are patch together and some items for example the plumbing in our second bathroom never were installed in a professional manner. the pips are not in the wall anywhere close to the sink and it is just poor workmanship. Our recommendation would be that if you are having any new home built by a mass contractor then be there as much as you can and watch for all things not right. Our issue is that the lack of supervision and lack of follow through for the work that is supposed to be done has created hassles for us. We had to let the company know that the pop outs weren't being installed when we saw that our house and a couple others being built didn't have them. So, they did an afterward fix of attaching the pop outs with a mesh cover rather than the usual chicken wire and then a light thin coat of stucco. If anyone else in the neighbor bumps into their pop outs they would most likely be fine because they have a sturdy pop out where as ours is done sloppy and since one has been bumped into on the patio the pop out is not only smashed in but the mess is actually broken. It is made so un-sturdy that the that just by bumping into it, it breaks. Pulte will not fix it because, although we were honest and said that it was bumped into, they claim that their tacky afterward fix is acceptable. This is our brand new home and it should be built of quality and workmanship at least equal to all the other homes in this neighborhood. The only homes that have this issue are just ours and the couple others that they had to go and fix their missing item on. The homes that were also being built at the time but weren't as far into the process had the pop-outs added correctly. You can't tell me that they couldn't have done it correctly on ours even though it may have taken a bit more work. This company seems to be adverse to working a bit more to make things correct. There are homes with the same floor plan and elevation as ours that are still missing items on the outside of their homes and while being built the supervisor never noticed that these things were missing. When building a neighborhood as an owner I would want to know that my home has a supervisor that will make sure all the paid for features are there and of the same quality that all the others are as far as workmanship goes. We will never buy another new home from Pulte or any other mass production builders and certainly not where it is required that we be part of an HOA. In our free country these builders should know that we are adult enough to live and let live.
