When we are watching, the quality of the work is very good and when we have caught issues, he has generally been good to make the corrections. Unfortunately, he's not particularly reliable and may take months to complete even a small project. Also, if you are not checking his work, he will ignore imperfections/issues if you don't ask him to fix. Knowing all of this, we were still willing to hire him for our patio project because he understood our concerns and agreed to be diligent about doing the job well and getting it done within a specified time frame (5 weeks). The reliability issue and doing what he says he will do (e.g. ordering materials), finally became unacceptable for us and so we fired him from our most recent project (cutting flagstone for our patio) and will not hire him again. Not only did we catch Mike in a number of lies -- he didn't order the material when he said he did (instead pocketing the deposit money); he didn't have the resources to help him as promised; and he was not able to complete the project even within months of the original date. We are now out the money he owes us and had to find another contractor. He's very amicable, but very deceptive. Be careful.
