Two years ago we bought our home, which was built in the 1970s. An HVAC technician working on my attic duct work asked me if I knew I had some bare areas without insulation over the kitchen, etc. I did not, and began to research insulation contractors on Angie's List. Murray Insulation caught my eye because its ratings were high, and some reviews commented on their good prices and the fact they didn't attempt to over-sell the customer.
I called on a Thursday, and "Mike" (the owner) came out later that day for an estimate. He crawled around in the attic, told me what he would do, and gave me a price. Everything looked good so I asked him when he could do it. He said Monday (four days later). He came out between 8:00-8:30 am, and with one helper, he set up, did the job, and was finished by about 10:00am. I went up with him through the hatch to the attic when he was done. He showed me how he had set up insulation batts to form a barrier protecting the hatch from the blown insulation. He also told me he found old trails from roof rats in a far corner of the attic--nothing fresh, but something I might want to watch out for. I gave him a check, we visited a while, and he went on his way.
I was very pleased with his work. He never tried to over-sell me--that is he never tried to convince me I needed to pay to remove the old insulation or do other expensive upgrades. I am looking forward to lower temps and lower electric bills this summer. I would definitely use him again and would recommend him to others.

I'm the office manager for a pharmacy facility that suffered damaged insulation from a leaking skylight during a severe storm. The result was some hanging insulation, but also a mildew smell that several staff complained about - so I was eager to get it fixed quickly and professionally.
I went on Angie's List and contacted the top 3 providers for insulation repair (filtered by reviews) in addition to the original contractor who put in the insulation when the building was built - out of all four, only Michael Murray came and inspected our damaged insulation promptly and provided a quote within a day.
The original contractor never responded to my calls - and I called about 3 times throughout the week following the storm.
I was actually surprised how disappointing the other Angie's List picks were - the top one felt it was OK to quote me over the phone without visiting our site, basing his estimate entirely off photos; when I asked about all the things Murray explained to me it was clear this other provider's quote was going to be very short. Even disregarding this, I needed a written quote for the insurance adjuster and this "top" provider didn't send one, even after being asked twice. The second provider on the Angie's List results didn't manage to send a written quote until a week later, blaming technical issues. Compared to Murray, who had it in my inbox the same day he inspected the building, these other contractors definitely come up short.
The actual job was done quickly and professionally. Mike came out personally because he recognized we are a secure facility, and wanted to supervise the job. I was also present to help move aside counters and shelving for the scissor lift, and stayed throughout the entire job. Murray and his worker draped the work areas closest to the the skylight with plastic, and Mike brought extra masks for our staff to use if anyone felt uncomfortable with the insulation dust in the air. I didn't use one, and I was closest to the work area, but some staff ended up asking for masks. At that point I opened up a door, placed a fan by it and left that going for the rest of the day - I haven't had any complaints or concerns brought to me since (I also feel fine). Mike himself stood below the insulation job the entire time, and he didn't have a mask.
The job was finished within about 2 hours by one worker who clearly is an expert. Afterward, Mike made sure to sweep the areas clear and took all the old, damp insulation away. When everything was done, my co-worker and I inspected the work and he told me, "Yeah, I would definitely hire them again."
I couldn't be happier with the results - I just wish I didn't waste so much time trying to get other quotes! Thankfully I won't be looking around next time - for either my home or my job!

He responded promptly, scheduled the inspection within a few days, and was very professional. After looking at the attic, he said that he cannot improve on the existing insulation in the attic. He did recommend changing the insulation of the garage attic whose wall is adjacent to a bedroom from a low R styrofoam type material to a fiberglass batt insulation. He said we would be better off buying the material from Home Depot and installing our ourselves to save money as his minimum charge would be higher than what it would cost us. We followed his advise, did it ourselves (it was not difficult), and ended up saving money. Any service provider who gives such advice is always commendable and we will certainly use the company in the future if needed. This type of honesty is rare and should be encouraged.

Mike Murray came and gave me a quote. He was on time and very professional. I was pleased to be dealing with the owner. I waited until the new air conditioning unit was installed and then scheduled service. Mike and his team were very neat and when they were done you could not tell they were there. They had to come through a second floor window to reach the attic which must have been difficult. The a/c unit hardly goes on now and I am anxiously waiting for my next bill to see the difference. The house feels at a much more uniform temperature. I am very pleased with the service.

Mike is a gentleman. He returned my phone calls and emails in a timely manner. He went up into my very hot attic and fixed the mess that previous workmen left behind. Although he suggested that my house would benefit from additional insulation, he did not press the issue. I would highly recommend Mike.

Mike has a lot of experience with insulation and it shows. He was not afraid to get up in a hot attic and investigate my problem areas, and offer a solution. He was late for one apt. but called and explained the situation that was out of his control. I appreciated his professionalism and work ethic.

My house is 15 years old and we were having issues with our attic being to hot. I called Mike Murray and set up an appointment. Mike was very professional, explained the entire process and how it works, provided the quote and was BY FAR the most professional and knowledgable of the 3 contracts I had provide quotes. I schedule service and had a few questions prior to the installation. Mike was very responsive both by phone and text. I'd highly recommend them if you are in need of this type of service. Thanks!!!

Michael Murray and his crew did an excellent job at my house. I have a very small attic (low profile) and this required extra effort to reach the far corners of the attic. I especially appreciate Michael's professionalism when bidding the job; he did not try to upsell me with extra services of questionable value. This is in sharp contrast to the other 2 contractors that gave me bids. I have extensive background in residential construction and contracting so I recognize "blue sky" bids when they are presented. Michael did not offer any bogus products or service... just the real deal - add insulation to my attic, and his price was exactly what I was expecting. Michael was responsive... when he bid the job he said he needed at least 2 days lead time to schedule. I called him Wednesday afternoon and requested a Friday install... I could tell he was initially reluctant to schedule that soon, but he quickly agreed to meet my request. He told me he would arrive around 1:30 Friday afternoon... he got there at exactly 1:30! The installation took around 2 hours and he cleaned up the work area - again, just what I expected. I readily recommend Murray Insulation to anyone needing insulation at their home. Very professional, worth every penny. Kudos, 5 gold stars, 2 blue ribbons, rainbows and lollipops for Murray Insulation!i

Called for an estimate on Monday 3/24. Michael came out the same day (actually within a couple hours). He provided me with quotes for R-38 and R-49 depth of blown-in loose fiber, as well as for removal of old insulation. Per his recommendations, I went with R-38 and did not remove the existing, as it was spread very thin, pretty much non-existent in most areas of the attic. In fact, the space above the garage had no insulation at all. He initially offered to do the work on that Thursday, but due to my schedule we agreed on the following Monday, 4/1.
Michael and his assistant arrived on Monday morning, completing the job in about 2-3 hours, no problems whatsoever. I enjoyed working with Michael; he handled everything in a professional manner and he is personally involved in all phases, from the quote to the actual installation process.
I highly recommend Murray Insulation.

I prefer to do business directly with the owner and especially with an on-the-job owner. I chose this provider because he was close by and called him. He was on site for an estimate later the same day. The price was reasonable and he gave me a couple of options but did not try to hard sell me. We set up an appointment; he and his "crew" arrived a few minutes early and got right to work. Took about an hour to blow an additional R-19 insulation; they cleaned up the work area and were gone on to their next job. I recommend that, if you need additional insulation in your attic you get it done and get it done soon - the price seems to go up as the temperature rises and we know the temperatures are rising!! This is a small mom and pop business that gives personal and professional service. I recommend them highly.

They removed insulation from a home so that had extensive termite damage so repairs could be made. They were very organized and neat. When they were done they did an excellent job cleaning up the job site. I could not have asked for a better job. The owner was extremely knowledgeable, honest and professional. Don't hesitate to hire this company!

Mike and his assistant arrived promptly on the day and time agreed to. Owens Corning R38 (L 77 loosefill insulation) was blown over the main house ceiling. Then R 30 fiberglass batt insulation was laid over the necessary sections of the outbuilding. Everything was done quickly and professionally---down to the clean up of any debris---in about 5 hours. No middlemen or outsourcing. At the completion of the job,I was given paperwork to claim tax credit for the work performed. (I didn't know this was available.)
Soon after, I had a trusted individual look over Mike's work. So now I can write that I am very pleased and can recommend his company to others.
