CJ Was hired to help us with a simple scratch coat for a project we were working on in a private home. After giving him exact measurements and pictures of the job he provided a quotation to have two people come out and quoted he would easily be able to finish in a day. We have done this work for years and were very familiar with the scope of the work, the amount of labor needed and time required for .8 cubic yards of vertical mix as a scratch coat and how difficult it can be to work with occasionally. He showed up the first day after another job which happens frequently in this business but by himself without help and after working for three hours told me he'd be back in the morning to finish, but told me it would be no problem. The next day he called me at 4:00PM after missing our 11am time to let me know he might be able to come in and do a few hours but would definitely be able to finish the next day no matter what, the work he had done initially looked good so we let him come back. After he was several hours late again (230pm vs 11am as promised) on the third day he was able to get our job less than 1/3 complete and called us after a few hours to let us know he was done for the night. We fired him on the spot and asked him to discuss payment the following day as we needed to see the quality which was appeared significantly worse than the first day and as we discovered he had only mixed 2 50lb bags in the 5 hours he had been on site and covered the space of what would have taken 7 bags. Our main issue was after trying to be reasonable with him about the work done and wanting to see it dry the next day to see if cracks would form (they did and scratch coat was completely unusable and required us removing more than 20% of it) he threatened us to the point where we had to file a police report. The next day e brought in a 2 man professional team to remove his work, and after breaking away the cracked portions, they were able to complete the entire job in under 7 hours including cleaning up his mess for the exact same amount CJ quoted us. Stay as far away from CJ and his "Business" as possible this man has no attention to detail, does not do quality work, and is dangerous to work with.
