Phil is an absolute treasure. I called him about assisting in a high conflict child custody case that a family member is experiencing. He had excellent advice for us and was honest in regards to whether or not he would be helpful. Turns out we really didn't need his services but he had great ideas about things that we could suggest to the family lawyer. Phil is very friendly and personable. I would highly recommend him.

Extremely well! Phil was very professional while still being extremely friendly as well. He talked with me about all of the options and gave me some excellent advice on how to proceed from where he left off. He went well above and beyond. I very much hope to work with him in the future.

Phil informed me he'd had success and failure in these kinds of searches. After initial information I gave him, Phil had me talk with him to help sharpen the search. He helped keep me motivated to get to the result... It turns out I found the person through luck on a LinkedIn search, then Phil confirmed the address and phone #. I'd hire Phil again.

Phil spent quite a bit of time learning our needs and formulating a plan that would safely remove my daughter and her children from the present danger they were in. His initial consultation was extensive and free. Since we had to drive all the way to SW New Mexico and back, there were several hours involved. The charge for his services after a very successful operation were very reasonable. He was always caring of the people involved and his years of experience in similar situations was evident.

Don’t be fooled by his folksy and unassuming demeanor. Philip Rust is a topnotch detective – Arizona’s answer to Sherlock Holmes, or perhaps Columbo without the rumpled coat. I called Phil about my older brother who presented a very difficult Missing Persons case, exacerbated by mental health issues, a troubled needle in the Phoenix haystack. My elderly mother was literally sick with worry; she lost eleven pounds, refusing to eat until my brother was found. And Phil found him, within one week to the day after my brother disappeared. That’s impressive detective work. Gently and effectively Phil won my brother’s trust, who, by this time was suicidal. Phil encouraged him to make the decision to be hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation, stayed with him until he was checked in, and looked in on him every day during his treatment. Phil is computer savvy, but also old school, with forty years of real world experience. Not only did Phil find my missing brother, he got him the medical and legal help he needed to get his life back on track. Phil saved my brother’s life, and he saved my mother’s, too, as she finally started eating once she knew my brother was in good hands. My mother had prayed for a miracle, and Philip Rust was the wise and kindly angel who delivered. I cannot thank Phil enough.

Mr. Rust is a true professional, and a real human being. He is the real deal, in a world full of phonies, crooks, and zombies this man is authentic. I highly recommend him. Will use him again if ever needed. He is a rare gem, his prices very reasonable. He got the job done in no time, and I every confidence in him, I am grateful to have found him, and I think Angie's List for promoting him,
 YOU rock!

In summary, I will be forever grateful to Phil of Rust Investigations because he recognized the investigative services that I needed him to perform - rather than merely complying with providing the services that I requested of him.
I initially spoke with Phil about locating a person.  A few months ago, I received a notice on the letterhead of a valid insurance company indicating that a family member (who had passed 9 years ago) had an outstanding insurance policy, of which no one in my family had been aware.  The surprising part was that I did not recognize the name of the named beneficiary.  I called the number on the form to obtain clarification but was left with more answers - and the instructions to complete the paperwork and mail in the forms.  Because I didn't recognize the beneficiary's name as that of a family member, or even that of a family friend, I was obligated to at least ensure that this named beneficiary was deceased so that the policy proceeds could flow to the estate.  I spoke with 3 PIs and 2 had no problem extending their services to locate the named beneficiary on the fake policy.  Phil, however, didn't stop there.  He confirmed that he could locate the person using specified search tools BUT he advised me that something didn't smell right regarding both the policy and the procedures utilized by the company.  I sent him the documents that I had received and Phil's instincts were correct:  The forms and correspondence materials could be easily downloaded from the insurance company's website but the phone number located on the paperwork did not match those of the insurance company. I'm a busy person (as evidenced by the fact that it took me months to address the multiple mailings that I had received) so Phil saved me both time and energy by exposing the fake policy.  I'm further relieved because the family member named as the policy holder was VERY organized so this mysterious policy never made sense to me.  Should I require future investigative services that do not require physical proximity, Phil will be the first person that i contact.

Response from Rust Investigations Inc
"Much of the past 40 years I have been investigating all types of fraud. When the internet came along a whole new world came with it. Limited only by imagination, those who would cheat others, sometimes for fun, but usually for profit, began using the internet instead of the mail or phone. In this case, they used all the methods beginning with the internet to "fish" for information about people and their relatives. Then they used to mail to "set" the hook by inferring there was a life insurance policy with proceeds to be paid. Finally, they use a "spoof" phone number people call and get redirected to a boiler room where the curious callers are sorted out and depending on how naïve they sound are led further down the path or discarded if it seems unlikely they will be gullible victims. The perpetrators go to considerable lengths to maximize the plausibility of these schemes and obviously they work because there seems to be no end to the variations of the "money for nothing" theme. Of course, eventually the victims are going to be asked for credit card or bank information to pay some "processing fee" to receive the non-existent funds. The phony insurance policy is one I had not heard of yet, but the scenario is always the same. Most people have heard of the phony sweepstakes and prize schemes so this is just another variation."
