Outstanding. I wish all service providers operated like Chris. I needed my main entry door squared up. It didn't latch and did not close securely, i.e., only the dead bolt latched and not smoothly. I also wanted a security door installed. I am familiar with installing doors, remodeling, and general home repair, but am unable to do the things I used to do. Chris did this job right and was easy to talk to when I asked questions about the job. Outstanding. In a matter of a few hours Chris had removed the moldings, re-shimmed the door, and had it operating like a new door. He then installed the security door I had purchased. Every time I walk through that door I get a big grin of satisfaction. Thank you, Chris. You are first on my list for when I need home services.

Chris did a neat job replacing our old garbage disposal. He had to replace some connectors where the plumbing pipe attached to the disposal. He did the work quickly and left the kitchen clean. We will use him again.

Chris usually shows up right on time. He checked the repairs that would be needed and then we went over them together showing me exactly what needed to be fixed. He was friendly, courteous, and professional. He sent me an email quote a couple of days later. I called him up and set up time and date for the work to be done. The work was done about a week later. Chris and his crew did a great job. I would definitely hire him again. He has done several handyman jobs for me in the last two years.

I contacted Chris through Angie's List last July. He met us at our new home (July 7th) to go over a lot of things I wanted remodeled BEFORE moving into our new home. Chris seemed very knowledgeable and appeared to live via morale and ethics. We had a short time to choose a truthworthy contractor who could accomplish what we were asking and by the deadline. Chris promised he could get the new tile laid, the entire inside home painted, and the pool fence done in 2 wks prior to moving in @ end of July. I wanted this part of the remodeling done by July 28th, to give us time to move from our old house to our new one. Though we moved a few boxes over prior to EOM, I would have to store them in the garage and the garage gets very hot mid-summer in Arizona! Also, Chris and his crew took up a lot of room in the garage with their trash. I received my keys to my new home on 7/18/17, with the expectation that remodeling would start asap. Chris's first day with our home was 7/25/17 in which he started the ripping up the carpet and laying file in our main bedroom. Needless to say, we were forced to extend our old house lease by an entire month (my landlord would not extend by a couple wks) in order to get our new home move in ready, with time to move from one home to the other, and cleaning time at the old home. Note, that our first night in our new home ended up with my 11 year old son in the emergency room because of his asthma. From all the tearing up of the existing tile from our kitchen, the air was a thick mess, but we had no where else to go, considering all our new furniture was delivered at our new home and we threw away all our old furniture from our old home. My son was hospitalized for 3 days. I will give Chris credit that he purchased a couple new filters and replaced them for us while we were in the hospital, caring for our son. We had to pay an entire extra month for rent, electricity, water, etc. That definitely was not in the budget. However, I decided to move forward. We paid Chris as he asked, totaling $21,825 plus $1500 for paint to Dunn Edwards (as he recommended), plus $2800 for tile to Floor & Décor (as he recommended). The first 2 or 3 days went well. After that, there was not a day that went well. Note that I have never done anything like this before and put a LOT of trust in Chris. Not one time, prior to starting our project, did he mention that we would not be a priority to him and that he had other projects rolling at the same time. When the project first began, I would leave work and meet my husband at our new home, as we were super excited to watch the progress. Then day 4, nothing. No one had even come out. This was the beginning of many many no shows, cancellations, ignoring, and sloppy work. Our biggest complaint, was the tile that was laid. Chris didn't lay tile himself, but he assured me he knew a great guy, Rob, that would do the best work. Sounded good to me! Until we started moving in our furniture and we started realizing the tiles were not even. We began tripping on uneven tiles, we have broken 2 table chairs, our kitchen table's legs are breaking, guests have tripped on the uneven tiles, and lots of snickers and comments from guests we've had visiting. This guy, Rob, was supposed to visit our house the fall of 2017 (said Chris). Nothing ever happened. Chris finally gave me Rob's phone number. I waited till after Christmas and New Year's (out of respect) and texted Rob my concerns. We made an appointment of Feb 9th, since that's what was convenient for Rob. He no showed (after I rearranged MY time to be home and ready). I then contacted Rob on Feb 17th with no response from Rob. March 5th I reached out again. Finally, March 9, 2018 I heard from this Rob guy promising me he would be working at another project the following week and would stop by. (How nice of him to scheduled yet another time that was convenient for him! I clearly was not a priority). March 12th he showed up with a lady (maybe his wife?) to take a look at the tile. He snickered and said I bought cheap tile and that's what I get. I couldn't believe my ears! Especially since prior to buying the tile, I had asked Chris SO MANY questions about what type of tile I should purchase. Rob continued on telling me how Chris paid him "pennies" for this job and no way would he come and redo the work. Rob said it wasn't even worth his time in the beginning, so he put his son on the job since day 1. Wow, nice to know. He said he would contact Chris and let him know his findings. My husband and I then decided to head to Floor & Décor and find out how they could sell me "cheap tile" when it was $1.83/sq ft. We didn't even go with the cheapest tile they offered. If just one person would have informed me that the tile I was purchasing would cause so much anguish and dissatisfaction, I wouldn't have purchased it. I spoke with the main person in charge and he looked at me like I had 2 heads when I told him my story. He told me even if I bought the cheapest priced tile they sell, it would lay nicely, smooth, and even, if it were laid correctly. He told me my contractor I hired should be the one doing all this leg work I was doing. Interesting. So I contacted Chris and told him what I found out. He wanted to plan another time for him, Rob, and myself to review the tile again and come up with a plan. We scheduled for June 30th, which to nobody's surprise, was cancelled and rescheduled for July 7th between 430 and 5. He showed up at 5:05, ALONE. No Rob in site. Chris walked in with a roll of masking tape saying he wanted to mark the "worst" tiles so Rob can come fix them. Wait, what? I told Chris that was not going to fix the problem. I told him ALL The tile that was laid was uneven (4 bedrooms, kitchen, and living room) and fixing one or two wasn't going to solve it. It's so uneven I do not think I can even hire a professional to clean the tile. I asked Chris if Rob was licensed and he said no. Wait, what? So I paid Chris to hire an un-licensed guy who turned around and gave the job to his younger son? My husband and I got a quote from another contractor who would rip our tile up and place even better tile for $11,000 (including tile). Chris charged me approx. $9000 just in labor to rip up carpet in the bedrooms, rip up the old tile in the kitchen and living room, and lay tile (that I had to buy). Imagine our disappointment. Chris then told us he would have a couple floor guys come out and check it out. Never happened. Chris ended up emailing me saying all he would do is have Rob replace the tiles that were giving us the "worst problem" - so he is admitting that the tiles are uneven and he still won't make things right for me. We were planning on moving in 2 years to turn a profit, but now our entire plans have been turned upside down, due to lack of resale value in crappy tile. I have also attached as many pictures as Angie's List would allow me in paint mishaps, doors being hung incorrectly, etc. I had also wanted a French door leading from my kitchen to the back yard in replace of the old sliding door. He had known this since day 1, waited to the last minute, then decided to tell me that since I wanted a swinging outwards door, it would cost more and take a couple months to order. Wait, so you haven't even ordered it yet? Still to this day, I have uneven tile, the grout isn't even filled in around the French door, there's still paint on the glass for my barn doors he hung, and so many other issues. I will give him credit that in March he had his best guy come fix some of our painting complaints including dirty hand prints left on our ceiling, but there's still paint splatter on the tile, uneven paint on the walls, our surround sound speakers Chris hung are uneven. He even chipped one of our tiles when he came out to finally fix one of our barn doors. To wrap it up, he had no problem taking our money, doing a poor, sloppy job, always no showed or cancelled... it is 1 year later and we still have problems with his work. I feel we were very accommodating and understanding. I tried to not be snotty and demanding. In the end, I would never recommend Chris to an
Response from Priority One Home Repair
"While I really appreciate your feedback, I was surprised to read how unhappy you are with all the work that was completed. I would first like to address your move-in deadline. We worked furiously for the first 2 weeks prior to move-in to complete the interior painting (all trim, doors, ceilings, and walls throughout the interior of the home). We removed all carpet and padding in all bedrooms including the master and installed a new 6"x24" plank flooring in all rooms. It was decided by you that you wanted a partial wall removed, a 12'x12' 2x6 partition wall built between the living room and Great room, the existing kitchen tile removed, and approximately 400 sq. ft of plank flooring installed. These additions made it very difficult to meet your timeline of 2 weeks. Nothing was ever mentioned to me up to this point about the extended lease on your previous home or the additional bills you incurred. I recall that you moved into the new home 3 weeks after the work began while we were still working on finishing the flooring and partition wall in the kitchen. A house under construction can be dusty although we tried to keep it as clean as we could. As you indicated, the A/C filters were changed as soon as you mentioned your son had an asthma attack. It is my recollection that you were very happy weeks into the job (not 2 or 3 days) and I did my best to accommodate your additional work requests such as the barn doors and partition wall in the living room. The majority of exterior doors swing inward but because of your kitchen table placement, you requested they swing outward which is more of a custom setup and is usually a bit more expensive. I did explain this to you. It was decided by you that I just purchase the in-stock French doors at Home Depot and install them backwards so the doors swing out. Minor things can get missed with a job this size but we've come out a few times to try to make it right. The pictures you attached were cosmetic issues that have all been taken care of some time ago. We did a complete walk-through of the home with your father and asked several times if he was happy with everything. We indicated that he (or you and your husband) could contact us at any time if additional issues were noticed. I have always been willing to address your concerns. While I do admit there are some uneven tiles in the kitchen that need to be pulled out and re-laid, I do not agree that the entire floor needs to be redone and that it will prevent the resale of your home. In my professional opinion the flooring looks good other than the few uneven tiles. I e-mailed you on July 12th stating that I would be willing to mark those tiles and have Rob replace them. Your review is the first time I've heard from you since that e-mail. I cannot confirm or deny what was said between you and Rob as I was not a part of that conversation. Rob's son has worked directly for him for the past 3 years and it is not uncommon for his son to do the big bulk work. As a business owner I usually have several jobs going on at once. Sometimes it becomes necessary to reschedule and juggle things around but I do try my best to minimize the times that has to happen. Since I started your job a year ago I really feel I have done my best to address your issues and concerns. I sincerely apologize that you see it differently and that the job did not go as expected for you. As previously indicated, I am willing to replace the problematic tiles if you are open to that. If so, please contact me via phone or e-mail so we may schedule a time."

Chris did a great job, once he was able to come and do it. On the day he was scheduled to come, he had a serious work accident at the previous job. A large dog pushed over the ladder he was on, and he fell six feet to the floor and landed on his back! He called me from the emergency room. He seemed more concerned about me than himself. I reassured him that it was more important that he rest and recover. He did. Once he was feeling better, he came over with two excellent assistants, and they took care of all of it.

Wonderful!! Project was very complicated and time consuming. Actually took two full days. There were bags and bags of screws and other parts. The instructions were terrible. He was on time. Cleaned up after the work was done. Very friendly. I was going to hire him for more work the next week but he never responded.

Chris Riggs, proprietor of Priority One, installed the cabinet door on Wednesday May 17th. Mr. Riggs applied a finish or stain on the door which was not cherrywood. Since the other cabinet doors are all cherrywood, the finish was not applied evenly and still did not look like cherrywood. So, Mr. Riggs said he would return in another two weeks to apply another coat. After two different people viewed the work on the door, my husband and I came to the conclusion that another coat of finish was unsatisfactory. We would like to mention that Mr. Riggs gave us a $25 gift card and did not charge us for the job in an attempt to settle our differences in regard to the craftsmanship of the cabinet door. Overall, we were not happy with the result of the job and we would not recommend Priority One to others.

He said it would take 2 weeks. I called him after a month of not hearing anything. He said the guy who was making the door had car troubles and hadn't delivered the door. After another two weeks, I attempted to call him again. I was not able to reach him. I left him a message and I never heard back from him.

"Thank you for your feedback. This was my mistake and I take full responsibility for dropping the ball. During all the confusion of trying to get the door delivered my father unexpectedly passed away in Michigan. I had to take some unanticipated time off to attend the funeral and tried my best to notify all my customers. Things were very hectic at that time and I inadvertently forgot to contact you. I sincerely apologize for any inconveniences I may have caused and would be more than happy to assist you with your door if you are open to giving me another chance. If so, please send me a message on Angie's List and I will respond right away. Thank you."

My first experience with Chris at Priority One was very positive.  The main thing is they repaired a deep kitchen drawer that had been repaired a couple of times before (by someone else) but kept slipping off the tracks.  It's been several months & the drawer is still working fine.

I contacted him a week ago via email (Friday).  Did not receive a reply until Monday morning.  He said he'd been on vacation.  We scheduled a time for him to come to my home on Wednesday evening to price out another job.  Pretty sizeable job, since I have six large holes in walls that need to be repaired.  (We had a water leak in February & the holes were made to detect where the leak was & to repair the leak.)  I also wanted a lighting fixture hung.  He didn't show up & never responded to my (very polite) voice message asking where he was.

I will not use this company again b/c apparently they don't need my business & a simple return call is too much trouble.
