Description of Work: Best service ever. Women need not be afraid with this company. They are polite, respectful and will not talk down to you. They will show you exactly what they repaired and why. Such a fabulous experience. If my wife and I had not just purchased new cars, Dave's would be our go to. I would give a 100 stars to this company. Plus the owners sent us wonderful thank you gifts.

I was towed to Daves on Sat so, the car could not be looked at until Monday. I was leaving for CA on Monday morning and could not pick up the car till Friday. I was called Monday afternoon and informed during their safety check they found the rack and piñon steering needed to be replaced. I was told the cost for the steering and 2 keys would be $1380.00. I picked up the car on Saturday and have not had any problems.
Description of Work: Made 2 keys. Replace the rack and pinon steering.

Terrible. Dave comes on as a nice guy while your paying his high prices. My wife asked him if he would treat his Mom like that and I guess he would. How many times can you bring your car back for the same issues? After a week in one of the cars I had no brakes and was told its OK. Than it got so bad I brought it back and guess what?. One of the mechanics could not believe how bad it was. He told me had one of the guys stop what he is doing and get right on the car. They did work on the car but something about a washer that failed from their work caused no brakes in the back. They love to charge their looking at the car of $99. They figure you already invested $99 so go for the rest. I think I will check out a different place recommended on Angie's list. How many times can you apologize? Its nice to apologize if you mean it and than give a price break.
Description of Work: The above was for the repair for two cars.

I was traveling for work and my wife called saying that the truck would not start. We have used Dave's car care in the past so I had my wife call them. They had the truck towed to the garage and evaluated the problem. There was a security default that ended up being the problem and initially it was confusing, however they continued to solve the problem and kept my wife informed as to the work that was being done. The truck was repaired and my wife had the truck back in less than 3 hrs. We were extremely satisfied with the timely service, and the professional manner the people at Dave's provided. Every time we have used Dave's with both of our vehicles we have been totally satisfied.

They performed all of the above in the time allotted, and provided transportation home & back for me. I have always appreciated the service they provide to me, and their facility is absolutely spotless. Their staff are very helpful and willing to explain in detail everything they suggest to be done. I trust them to keep my vehicle in good working order and have never been disappointed.
Description of Work: My car was due for the emissions control test, as well as routine maintenance. In addition, I needed the Gear Shift Indicator replaced, Oxygen Sensors replaced, ECM Software update, Fuel Injection service, and Radiator Hoses replaced.

Dave's touts that he is a quality organization and if you want cheap go down the road. I have found they are VERY expensive and do not hesitate to escalate the prices to a point you have no choice but the get the repairs and except the fact that you have overpaid by double or more. A dealer is cheaper and less arogant. For instance: 1) initial diagnostics $99 ok 2) remove the stuck spark plug of the head he sold me $450 questionable 3) $1000 to remove head to see if the head he sold me was the cause of the problem. no way resonable. 4) cost to quit repairs and have car towed off $2100.... really? 5) $3500 total repair cost twice....unthinkable.
Description of Work: May 12, 2010 my 2003 Toyota Tacoma[1] with 185,179 miles exhibited a vibration in the engine at idle and a “check engine” light came on. I allowed Dave’s Car Care Center[2] to diagnose the problem. The automotive repair facility explored all external conditions that could cause this condition and determined the problem was internal to the engine. Dave called me and said we performed a cylinder leak down test and believe the problem to be the cylinder head valves and it would be about $1000 to tear it down and find out. I authorized the work. Once the teardown was complete, Dave once again called and stated it was in fact the engine head valve assembly and my options were to have mine rebuilt or for a couples of hundred extra bucks purchase a set, ready to go, off the shelf of a person he knew which was very reputable and they would probably last longer. I agreed to go with the more expensive valve heads. My truck was repaired and ran good. April 25th 2012 my truck with 232,798 miles began missing badly. The check engine light came on and it barely ran. I stopped at an AutoZone parts facility which analyzes error codes and was told it was a cylinder 3 misfire code. I left my truck with Dave’s Car Care Center to determine the problem expecting a tune-up or similar repair. The next day, I was called by Aaron Johnson the service representative and said a spark plug was stuck in cylinder 3 and if much more force was put on the plug it would probably break and require removal adding extra charges. Aaron stated the plug was most probably the cause of the misfire. I authorized the work to remove the plug, which did break off and had to be removed incurring more cost. The plugs were replaced but the misfiring remained. I was then called by Aaron and informed a cylinder leak check was performed and we would have to go internal to the engine again. I authorized the work. The results of the internal inspection determined the cylinder head assembly was once again at fault. I came to the shop and inspected the heads and other than an intake valve in cylinder 3 stuck open they looked nearly new. Dave’s shop sent my heads to the shop to be rebuilt as no pre-rebuilt heads were able to be located. During the rebuild, the machine shop said the heads contained structural cracks and it would have to replace the valve body. My complaint centers around three points: 1) The head obtained for the additional $189(see attachment 1 ($889.35)) lasted 47,619 miles before failure. The recommended valve adjustment is 60,000 or 48 months. 60k miles was not reached nor the 48 months. 2) The “better” head valve assembly exhibited problems such as the stuck spark plug and structural cracks requiring disposal. 3) I have contacted Toyota (ref 1204260385 case number), a Toyota dealership in Avondale and a Toyota specialist on the internet and determined these engines rarely if ever require a head replacement and the odds of two is extremely unlikely. I have attached the invoice’s from 2010 (attachment 1) and 2012 (attachment 2) and the internet chat dialog with the Toyota specialist in South Carolina (attachment 3). I believe it may have been a lack of valve adjustment maintenance for the first cylinder head leakage at 185k miles due to a lack of preventative maintenance at 60k intervals especially since the problem occurred in a minor nature and was slow in developing. I paid $3,363.42 for the rework. The second occurrence at 232k miles (47619 miles later), I, and information obtained from experts, believe was a failure of the rebuilt head assembly and therefore I am requesting a reimbursement of the $3,399.33 from Dave’s Car Care Center due to mechanical malpractice resulting from a faulty cylinder head assembly and/or a lack of diagnosis of the root cause of the problem. My husband takes the car in and he was not pleased. He had used Dave’s for a long time but they got nasty with him and refused to help him. He went to another shop and they told him that Dave’s messed the car up and made the problem worse. We are not happy with them at all. We went at one point to have the air conditioning fixed because it was about 80 degrees in the car. The mechanic held a sensor up to the vent and insisted that there was air coming out and that it was cold, but it was not. When we’ve taken the car in and something wasn’t quite right, my husband would take it back and they would make the problem right eventually. We live nearby and our experiences weren’t all bad.

They were great. They were very honest and provided great service. I will use them in the future. Their quality of work and pricing was good. Their responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism were great. I had got another quote from a different place which was twice as much as Dave's charged me. They did more work for the money I paid.

I have been happy with the service I have received From Dave's Car Care every time I have taken my vehicle in for its routine maintenance. My experience this time was no exception. After dropping off my vehicle at Dave's Car Care, I was given a ride home as they needed the vehicle for most of the day to do the required repairs. That in itself was wonderful, but when the repairs necessitated leaving my auto overnight, Aaron arranged for a taxi to take me to work in the morning, and again to pick me up from work and return me to their facility to pick up the newly repaired vehicle. I am beyond impressed! From the first time one enters the spotless reception area, the operation is impressive. If a wait becomes necessary, they have a comfortable seating area with complimentary refreshments and current magazines on hand, making an otherwise boring wait as pleasant as possible. From start to finish, every staff member is professional and ethical, and obviously takes pride in his or her work. If your auto repair experience has been less than exceptional, gives Dave's Car Care a try - you'll be as impressed as I am!
Description of Work: My automobile had a lot of issues that had to be taken care of in order to undergo the AZDOT Emissions test. The staff at Dave's Car Care were able to troubleshoot and take care of everything. In addition to all the regular tune-up items, they had to install a new intake manifold gasket, replace an entire exterior headlight assembly, install a new battery, and repair the integral emissions control devices on my older Explorer. They also had to replace some light bulbs in the dash instrument panel - why don't the manufacturers make these things more accessible!

He is extremely honest and fair price-wise. He's never tried to get extra money out of us. If he doesn't see a need for anything, he doesn't pressure into unnecessary expenses. He only does what needs to be done. He doesn't try to sell the most expensive just the best for our needs.
Description of Work: He does our tires and our basic mechanical work.
