The entire process started in October 2017, and the final piece to the order was not installed until July 2018-yes it is not a typo...July 2018. While the quality of the product is decent, the salespeople and installers were not fully knowledgeable in some of the products they sell, which is part of what caused this delay of unacceptable proportion. The salesperson came to my home in January of this year to discuss concerns with the shades not closing close enough to the wall that left a large gap where there was a lack of privacy. The salesperson was to look into alternative solutions, and never reached back out to me, except for one email in February (in response to me email) admitting that the process had taken too long, and that he was still working on a solution- and admitted he needed to do a better job with his follow up. I finally called in March and spoke to the installation manager, and for that entire two months, nothing was done or looked into. No effort was made whatsoever. There continued to be problems with getting the final valance installed correctly with countless trips to my home where I had to take time out of my job and be inconvenienced. It is now August, and this review has been weighing heavy on my mind as I want to be fair (but honest), however this company continues to disappoint. Earlier this week the valance in my bedroom crashed to the floor. I called Southwest Blinds and left a detailed message for the installation manager to call me regarding this situation. I also sent an email to her with pictures of the valance on the floor where it still sits. She never called back. Today is Friday August 10th. I called this morning and spoke to Michelle who confirmed the manager was there, and that she would provide her with my contact information to call me back. As of this writing I have yet to hear from anyone to remedy this situation. Given this entire ordeal, I cannot say I would recommend this company to anyone. The one positive thing I do have to say is that the installers (despite issues with improper installation of some products), were very friendly and professional, however this unfortunately doesn’t make up for the poor communication and lack of regard for my valuable time.

After having fresh paint on our great room walls, we needed a fresher look than heavy wooden blinds.   The products were fairly basic with the other companies we received quotes from...until Patty came with her great array of new choices:)  The pattern we chose was one not offered by the other two reps, so we were pleasantly surprised when her quote came in slightly under theirs! Patty was professional but not pushy and a pleasure to work with.  The measuring crew was prompt and professional as well.  This is not an overnight blind company.  The time from quote to installation was slightly over a month, but these blinds were worth the wait.   Todd, the installer, was extremely well-organized.  He installed one roller shade completely to make sure we were happy with the look before drilling to install the remaining three.  He took time to demonstrate the operation and gave us cleaning tips.   The room has an updated and much improved look.  We highly recommend the team from Southwest Blinds & Shutters!

Out of the 3 companies that came to bid out the purchase and install for shutters, Southwest Blinds and Kelly were the most impressive as far as cost, convenience and warranty.  He was very patient with us as we were debating on which treatments to go with.  The shutters look amazing and install was clean and timely.  I'd be happy to use them again and refer them to anyone.

First off my issue is not with the quality of the products we purchased it is with the service or lack of and lack of response and action of Southwest. When had a new home built in late 2014 and had Southwest out of give us an estimate for window treatments throughout the home. We never heard back from them and went with another company for all rooms except the great room kitchen and office which we purposely waited on until we got the feel of the new home. After finding out that Southwest had an issue with their email system on our first contact or so we were told we decided to give them another try since they carried the products we liked and their showroom was close to our home. I now think this was a BIG mistake. We purchased over $10,000 in products for just 3 rooms. The products came in on time and are perfect. Unfortunately one of the electrical motor connections was bad and a new one needed to be ordered. This is where the 3 ring circus started. The subcontractor electrician told Southwest what to order and asked that it have a priority shipping placed on it which should usually get it in within 2 business days. A week later the electrician called to see whay the part status was and was informed that Southwest never ordered it. Southwest ordered the part that day but did not put any priority on it. When it came in a week later it was the wrong part. I sent Eli an email stating my displeasure with the service and he said he would personally follow up to see what the problem was. His response was an email to me not even a phone call. The electrician called me from another state and said he would order the part and have it sent directly to him to ensure it was the right part and that was the last time I have heard from anyone. I was told the owner was on vacation in Hawaii and would not return until mid-week but that was 4 days ago and still no call, followup or any comtact. STAY AWAY from Southwest. They talk a great game but you will pay 5 star prices for 1 star service. I am contacting the blind manufacturer myself to get the electrical connection and will move forward with another company to install it.


So I am a fair person and feel compelled to update this post becuase I think it is the right thing to do. While the run around described above did happen James the owner of Southwest called me and we had a lengthy discussion about the breakdown in Southwests communication with me. James was very professional on the phone and informed me that they are a small business and most of the times everything goes well and customers do not experience the problem I experienced. James stated that as a result of my situation he has made several changes within his company to ensure that things like this would not happen again. I feel James was sincere in his assessment and he did not try to make excuses on why things went wrong. James explained the changes he has implemented as a result of my experience and I feel he truly wants to make his company better. The one thing I did really like is that James never asked me to remove this post from Angies List. I have had other companies do this and that is not what I feel is the true Angies List philosophy is about. I do not feel he took the time with me just to get my post removed, he did them because it was the right thing to do. So my overall take on Southwest would be, they carry great products and we have never had an issue with the quality of product we purchased except that one minor electrical connection that was a manufacturer defect and shold not reflect on Southwest. The owners of the company are trying to run a small professional business and are well on their way of doing that. If you do decide to conduct business with Southwest and a problem arises contact James and let him straighten the situation out from the onset.

Eli came to the house two times.  He was punctual both times.  When I called to tell them that I had finally closed on my new home, they installed the Luminettes right away.  The installer was also pleasant, came as scheduled, installed them and took away all trash.  The shutters were scheduled to be installed at a later date by a different installer.  They came as scheduled, were very pleasant, and instructed me on the care and use of the shutters.

It went great. They were professional and accurate. Showed up when they said they would. Installed shutters, caulked around all windows, touch up with paint. Showed us how all shutters worked. We had an issue a couple days later with one shutter. It took a couple weeks before they could come to fix. But when they came they did a great job, and then went around to all windows again to make sure all was good. They are professional, friendly and I would definitely use them again.

When I submitted an inquiry they called me within 30 minutes to speak with me... I scheduled an appointment for someone to come out and provide an estimate. The gentleman that came was very friendly and provided a lot of samples for me to select from. I placed my order and gave them 1/2 down. The order took about 2 weeks for customization..  
They called me promptly when the blinds were in and scheduled an installer to come out. The installer was very friendly and on time. He did an outstanding job. I am very pleased with the work they did, 
I highly recommend this vendor to anyone who needs blinds, shutters etc.

The shutters came in right when he said they would.  I was called to set the installation appointment.  The installer did a great job and was very friendly.
My daughter, son and friend have also used Southwest Blinds and Shutters and found the bid to be competitive.
