Martin Smith came out to my home to give me an estimate and let me know the plan for the job. He refused to give me a written contract or estimate, so I explained to him I would buy the materials myself, but I will pay for the labor. When the employees came in to begin the job, I found them running to the local gas station getting 12-packs of beer and bringing them to the cooler at my home. When I realized they were drinking on the job, I pointed this out to the owner. Many of the employees were actually teenagers! He told me one was actually his daughter's boyfriend. Now that the job is done, I'm realizing there are several things he did not finish, or did not finish properly. He also had put too much adhesive on the new hardwood floor, which has ruined the floor. I now have to move out for a period of time while I have someone come out to remove the floor and relay a new one. I also found that the door latches were done incorrectly and I had to hire a locksmith to redo every door in house. After I had paid for the labor, he had the nerve to send me an extra bill of $8,000! For what, I don't know! I would not recommend him to my worst enemy! Please avoid him like the plague!
