"We keep a detailed record of all incoming calls. I went back to the date in question and reviewed the details as well as our appointment book for that day. We were over booked on that day and worked until 7pm. The only call regarding a sick cat on that day was for a 5 year old kitty that appeared injured and was "holding his head down". I explained that we could fit the call in but there would be an emergency fee. I also indicated the cat should probably be taken in to his regular vet in case x-rays may be necessary. The owner declined an emergency appointment and said she would call us back if she still needed us the next day. We do our best to answer the phone even on the road and we definitely do our best to get back with people when we say we will. I'm sure we've occasionally missed a call or two but not out of recklessness or apathy."
We have more pets than the average family. Dr. Tate started off coming to treat our oldest cat for digestive issues and has been our vet every since. There are many reasons why she is a cut above the rest.
- 1. She is always the person who treats your furry friend. There is no vet tech finishing procedures or giving you advice. Her vet tech is fabulous but Dr. Tate is the one who treats the pets.
- 2. They give you a window of time (usually two hours). They call ahead to tell you they are on the way so you can quarantine your pet if they are likely to hide (which we have one or two that do that).
- 3. She is reasonably priced. I was a bit nervous about having her treat all our pets thinking it would be way more money than a non-mobile vet. Guess what? Not true. It is the same price and even times less. Better yet, she isn't being distracted by another patience in the waiting room cause there is no waiting room. Also, there is no up-sell. It is about the NEEDS of the pet!
- 4. She isn't afraid of a tough problem. We have presented some complicated animals to her (we are suckers for the sick ones) and she has been committed to working with us for solutions. She has never charged us for her time to research and I am sure it has been upwards of 40 hours. She isn't afraid to think outside the box and doesn't lump animals into a box.
- 5. She has a heart. Despite the fact that she is a seasoned and knowledgeable vet, she puts her whole heart into everything. She cares about her patients and their families. She hurts when you hurt. I don't know how she has managed not to be hardened but she hasn't.
- 6. She knows her strengths. She will refer you to a specialist when you need one because she definitely doesn't have an ego.
Because of our numerous pets and many with long standing health issues, we see Dr. Tate more than most. During these past several years, we have had the opportunity to see not only what an amazing vet she is, but what a kind, generous person she is. She will sacrifice herself for the good of an animal.
There aren't many people who we feel put heart before money these days but that is definitely Dr. Tate. I am so glad that we came to find her several years ago. I could give you countless more examples of the things I have seen her do and the way she has treated our animals that far exceeds any other vet but I would imagine that anyone who reads this review understands that my husband and I think Dr. Tate is the "Cat's Meow" and makes the world a better place!
