Dakota Electric

Outstanding work on a 1954 home. Jim and Becky did a great job with complex installation as well as utility company scheduling and work permit. A new 200 amp panel was installed and we now have a finished utility room (Jim and Becky coordinated with drywall installer) with recessed lighting. In addition we asked that our home be brought up to code by adding dedicated circuits for our refrigerator and microwave which required going through a tiled wall. All went well and price was very reasonable.

Timely, professional work done and to our satisfaction. Would use them again.

Jim & Becky were very friendly each time we spoke on the phone and Jim fixed the double taps that the home inspector flagged during the inspection. Pricing was very fair and the work was done quickly. Bonus points for playing with our dog when the job was completed. We will be remodeling a home and plan to hire Jim for the electrical work that will need to be done.

Very well. We were in a hurry to get the work done today because we'd been without the dryer for a week due to a different contractor's flakiness. I called this morning and after describing the problem to Becky(?) she said that their schedule was full today, but she'd call her husband and see if he could squeeze us in. She called back a few minutes later and said he'd be here within the hour. Jim was slightly delayed, but called to keep us informed. When he got here he was pleasant to deal with and did a nice job. He was thorough and conscientious about making sure all the connections are good.

He was right on time and charged a reasonable amount. I thought it was great that he took responsibility for it not working the first time and didn't charge me for the second visit. He is a very nice man. His wife, Becky who runs the office, is also very nice.

Jim was a pleasure to work with. Very friendly, he took the time to answer all of our questions. Jim's work is very neat he even cleaned up his work areas. Anyone that calls Jim will be very happy with his service and professionalism. I would highly recommend Dakota Electric to all of my friends and family members.

They were very good and friendly. They were neat and cleaned up after themselves. They were on time. They were very communicative of what they were doing. We had a problem and they had to come back two or three times. But there were no complaints about that.

We recently bought this house and decided to do a small remodel in the kitchen by converting an archway into a larger pantry. We needed a light added, an outlet added, and a switch moved. We were doing much of the work ourselves, but I not as comfortable doing major electrical work and knew I needed to contract it to have it done right and efficiently. Jim, the owner, came and spent a lot of time reviewing the job with us including making great recommendations we hadn't thought of including running new circuit for the fridge so it would be up to the latest code and wouldn't add much to the job since he would already need to run a circuit for the outlet. We were so impressed, we decided to have him add two ceiling fans in the living room as well since we were planning on doing that later. We were doing the remodel ourselves on evenings and weekends and Jim was fantastic at coordinating to fit our schedule. He had to come three times and we were never waiting on him (i.e. we did demo and rough-in, he came on a Sat afternoon to run wires in the walls, then we did drywall and finish, he came to install light, outlet, then he came back to do ceiling fans, etc.).
We couldn't be happier with Dakota Electric and Jim. He was professional, always went the extra mile whether it was doing everything he could to accomodate our schedule or taking the time to think through our do-it-yourself project with us and making recommendations to make sure we were planning the electrical correctly. The price was fantastic considering the level of professionalism and service they bring to the job. I would definitely use Dakota Electric again and recommend them to anyone looking for an electrical contractor.

The owner of Dakota Electric was very efficient and he explained to me about everything that he was going to do. The quality of his work is very good. He put up all the fans and dimmers.

Everything went super smoothly. SRP came at the expected time, and shut off power to the house. Jim and his partner then got to work replacing the panel. Five hours later, the town inspector came and signed off on his work, and then SRP came immediately after that to re-hook up power. We've worked with Jim now ten-plus times, and he is a consummate professional. Jim does not cut corners, and charges a fair price for a great job.
