I purchase a foreclosed home. The original equipment needed service and I was advised to clean and treat the back wash filter system which was quite old and then to replace the back wash filter screens which were destroyed which I agreed to do. When the work was begun and the backwash filter was cleaned, the repair person pumped out all the internal powder inside the backwash filter into the street and I got a notice from the city and the HOA that I was in violation of local laws that prohibit contaminating drain water systems. The filter material was "white" and when it was pumped out in the street on the brand new black asphalt it created one h*** of a mess. Not a good way to move in to a new neighborhood. The kicker though was that this filter system could have been replaced with a more friendly "sand" type filter system for the same cost of repairing and servicing this one and I was never given that option. They just sold me stuff instead of offering me options. Had I been educated by them I would have chosen the sand type filter.
