They took tremendous amount of care for my sick lizard and unfortunately he had a tumor so I made the decision to put him to sleep. They were very compassionate and nice.

My dog developed cataracts and I went to Arizona Vet Specialty for cataract surgery for him. The office workers were very friendly and helpful from the first time I showed up until the last visit I made, two months later. Everyone was very professional, yet concerned about your pet's health and progress as well. There is a photo album in the waiting room, with photos of their patients.
The doctor was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. Two days after my first visit, I received a photo card from AZ Vets Speciality Opthamology clinic with a picture of my dog, and Get Well Soon, emblazoned on the front. Everyone in the office had signed it. There was also a new dog toy in the large envelope! A very nice touch.
I felt we ran too many pre-surgery tests ($1500), which only added to the expense. I do understand their concerns with the dog possibly dying during surgery, because my dog is 16 years old, but everything checked out well. He had a very successful surgery and has had no bad reactions to either the surgery or the countless bottles of eye drops dispensed for his post surgery care. A very nice feature was that 4 check-up visits are included in the price for the surgery. This took some pressure off of me having to spend a great deal of money for the tests and surgery, and then having to pay for subsequent visits. I was glad they were pre-paid.
Overall, I have a very nice experience with AZ Veterinarian Specialties, and would recommend them to anyone. Even I would go back, and I have very high standards for customer service expectations.

Sundance was seen and evaluated for the RAI treatment of his feline hyperthyroidism.
Because we had to travel 100 miles round trip, this clinic was very accommodating to me, to get Sundance scheduled for the procedure and get it done in a reasonable time frame.
While he was there at the facility, he had to stay over the weekend and each day Dr. Beaver came in and checked on him and then called me with a detailed report.
This facility did everything in a totally professional and outstanding manner.

Our dog was referred to cardiology at AVS from an emergency animal hospital. Frankly, we were concerned after our first visit there because for starters, he was supposed to have an ultrasound and that was cancelled and the cardiologist, after taking another x-ray and comparing with one from the emergency hospital, seemed to be stumped. He went with Valley Fever though and prescribed medication for same and ordered another test (which came back negative and the second to come back negative). There was a follow-up vist in January and after yet another x-ray the diagnosis was inconclusive and once again the cardiologist felt it had to be VF even though the dog was not responding to the medicine. We never did make the third follow-up visit as we took our beloved dog into an emergency animal hospital as he was having problems breathing. There they did a needle biopsy and we were given the results a few days later just minutes before our dog was put down as his breathing had become so bad he was not getting enough oxygen. The dog had an aggressive form of lymphoma which did not magically appear overnight. We are annoyed that our dog was never referred to one of AVS internists since the cardiologist was stumped and guessing at best. In hind sight, we should have been more assertive and requested that our dog see an internist and possibly the outcome would have been different. As a result of our experience there, we cannot recommend this clinic.

Everyone is so helpful. From the point of calling for an appointment, to the staff that greets you and checks you in for your appointment, to the doctor and his staff. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and focused on giving the best care to my dog. They were patient and did not rush me. They gave me every opportunity to ask any questions and answered them fully. When I had a question later, I called and was directed to one of Dr. Lewis's assistants and they also were very helpful. I feel so fortunate to have been pointed in their direction by my vet.
I would highly recommend them highly. My dog is already responding positively to the allergy medicine and is acting like his playful self again now that his itching has subsided.

From the moment I called, I knew that Gracie would get the finest care. The care that was demonstrated when I called and explained the situation illustrated the level of compassion and concern possessed by the entire practice.
If you love your pet and want him or her to receive the highest quality care for conditions that general veterinarians cannot treat, you must go to Arizona Veterinary Specialists. Your pet's life may depend on it.
I had prior experience with AVS and with the other specialist in internal medicine, Dr. Bailey. Summer, my 10-year old dog had been prescribed too high a dose of Deramaxx by a local veterinarian in November 2009. This medication is like Rimadyl and often prescribed without much thought to kidney damage. Summer went into acute renal failure within 10 days of the Deramaxx episode and by Christmas, the vet was saying that she would likely need to be euthanized.
We learned about AVS on the Internet, made an appointment for December 29, 2009 with Dr. Bailey. Not only did Summer not get euthanized in late 2009/early 2010. Summer lived a glorious life until July 2011 when she had to be euthanized for an untreatable, cancerous growth in her lung. Dr. Bailey kept Summer well for 18 months when two other vets told me there were no options.
AVS and its entire staff is outstanding.

He was very friendly and spent as much time as I needed answering questions. His staff was very thorough. They're very friendly to my dog. I got some specific information about what was going on with my dog. It took a little longer than I expected. The whole environment was positive.

Our vists have gone well each time. For only blood work (as an example) you may save some fees by just seeing a vet tech for the draws. That saves on the bills.

My golden retriever needed liver surgery and they were just awesome. I needed a special surgeon, an oncologist, and an anesthesiologist, and they had them all there. They communicated with me better than human doctors do. They saved my dog’s life and they were fabulous. It was a horrible experience but they were wonderful about treating her and communicating with me. I was impressed with their professionalism, their knowledge, their abilities, and everything. One of my other golden retrievers had to see a veterinarian cardiologist so I took her there and the doctor was great.

Only five days elapsed between the time my golden retriever showed symptoms and the time the veterinarians diagnosed cancer, and Owen was euthanized on the sixth day. He was hiking and swimming with me only the week before. I couldn't let go of him so quickly without doing my utmost to see if any treatment was possible. Unfortunately, prostate cancer in dogs (which is apparently--and counterintuitively--even more common in neutered dogs) is now almost impossible to treat; most dogs are euthanized within a month. My veterinarian referred me to Arizona Veterinary Specialists as the "best oncology veterinarians" in the area. Dr. B*****, her assistant Sheila, and the staff were superb: very compassionate. Dr. B***** examined the dog carefully and confirmed the findings from the vet who performed the ultrasound. When she told me that no chemo or radiation treatments were possible and recommended euthanasia, I knew I had no other option, as Owen was by now suffering immensely. The procedure was performed with great care and kindness.

WOULD DEFINITELY USE AGAIN. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. DR. STACEY HOFFMAN IS A SPECIALIST, SO HER FEE IS HIGHER THAN YOUR STANDARD VET AND SHE DOES NOT WORK ON FRIDAY WITHOUT AN EMERGENCY FEE. HER AND HER STAFF SERVICE CAN'T BE BEAT. THEY WILL BE MOVING TO A NEW STATE OF THE ART FACILITY SOON.
