WARREN SMITH CONTRACTING INC

I hired Warren. He suggested several times that he was licensed. I did not do my due diligence and trusted his word. He comes off as very trustworthy and honest (not!). I gave him a total of about $42000 to do work on my home. About 80% was done and he disappeared. There was an outstanding balance of work to be done for about $5200. In addition, theconcrete he laid had a large amount of footprints (human foot prints) that Warren indicated he'd take care of. After not hearing from him (multiple attempts were made), I called the Arizona Registry of Contractors. Warren is not a registered contractor and, from their conversation with me, he's had some other run-ins with other customers. They advised me to file a complaint and not only include the $5200 of undone work, but repairs to the concrete. My total out of pocket is about $11,000. I'm filing the paperwork to have Warren investigated by the Registry of Contractors. You can probably look up this case on the Registry of Contractors in a bit of time and read the details. When dealing with any "contractor" (notice the quotes), you have to ask yourself: "Do I wish to do business with an unreliable and untrustworthy person?" My opinion is that you must take extreme care with doing business with Warren. I would NEVER want him to do work for me -- not even rake up leaves.
