Good work. Prompt, professional service. Will use them again.
Unlike other companies from which we attempted to get a quote, the owner was responsive in providing us with a quote and answering questions throughout the process. However, the quality of the work was definitely sub-standard and there was obviously no quality control. They got tar on our siding and there were tar and caulk spots across the roof. They were supposed to replace our vents like for like, but instead of replacing them with silver vents they used brown which did not match the new gray shingles. Although we expected to have to clean up some nails after the work was completed, we found over 50 nails throughout the yard, which could have easily resulted in serious injury to our toddler and dog (and one nail did actually puncture my boot, which fortunately was thick enough to prevent injury).
I subsequently called the owner who came over to discuss these issues. In response to the tar on the siding he said that we needed a new paint job anyway and if it was on the back of the house it wouldn't be noticeable (really??). I also pointed out the other issues described above and instead of taking ownership of the poor workmanship and apologizing, he responded in an unprofessional and dismissive manner. To his partial credit he did try to address some of these issues, but when I got back on the roof after they did a half-hearted job of cleaning up the tar I found even more staining on the shingles. So I called the owner and he sent his crew back to clean up the second mess, which was apparently cleaning solution that one of their crew spilled all over the shingles. Although after their second attempt to make things right there were still some tar spots and staining on the siding and shingles I decided enough was enough. Apparently the owner is not accustomed to customers actually getting on their roof, checking the quality of their work, and expecting professional craftsmanship. Based on these issues, I have serious concerns regarding the integrity of the overall job. Given my experience, I cannot recommend Ideal Roofing and give them a D overall since I personally think overall quality of the work is the most important factor in the end.
"I do again apologize for the tar on the wall. I did offer to paint that section as the paint was missing on much of the fascia and siding. I did the wong thing by sending the person that made the mess back to clean that area and he did a poor job of cleaning it up. I have let him go. The brown vents are better, in my opinion, than galvinized as they are paintalble and gavlinzed metal does not take paint well. I feel after we painted those vents to match your roof they look really good. I will warranty your roof for 10 years if that will help with "overall integrity and piece of mind. If you have any other issues I would be glad to try to get your 100% satisfaction. Anything I can do please let me know."
Very professional, very prompt, good cleanup. They do what needs to be done to do it right rather than do a shoddy job to meet their bid. I was happy, on my own initiative, to pay them a good deal more than there original bid. I would call them again anytime, and have already recommended them to several friends who have had hail damage to their roofs.
