it went very well. The installer arrived early, got to work immediately, checked with the home owner (my mother) who asked him to talk to me, her daughter, when I arrived. I spoke to the installer. He was friendly and very responsive to my questions. He showed me what he was doing. He was done removing the old carpet, putting the adhesive on the porch and laying the outdoor carpet in less than 1 hour. Very pleased with job and installer. Great job!

The installers will destroy your room and add on fees For 6 months I've been working alone on my theater room for my young boys. I've done all the drywall, electrical, trim and painting. It's been a labor of love! When it came to the carpet, it was the only job I wanted to hire out. I wanted to make sure it was done well, and I didn't think my skills were up to the task. What a mistake. I had picked out the carpet at another store, but went to Home Depot because they offered free installation. When the bill finally arrived, I noticed that the installers, Western States Flooring, added a $250 installation fee because I had a 12" platform in the room. I talked with Home Depot about it, but nobody knew why this fee had been added on my 'free' install. With the fee, it was still cheaper to go with Home Depot for the install, so I kept my order. The day of the install two young men came. I was upstairs 50 ft away, excited for the big moment when my room would have carpet and I wouldn't be walking on concrete anymore. They let me know that there would be some scuffing on the baseboards because the back of the carpet was 'like sandpaper'. I understood that and let them do their work. They left a few hours later. What I found when I went in the room was awful. The first thing that I noticed was that my custom door threshold, which took me hours to cut/fit/sand/prime/paint out of solid oak had been cracked down the side, and a portion of it had been completely broken off. The carpet install was awful and I could see clear down to the concrete. Then I saw the rest. A piece of trim had been hammered off. Glue had been left on the baseboards. The sides of my columns had the paint completely scraped off along the edges at waist height. Every one of the faceplates had a box cutter dragged across them. And every one of my step lights had the same box cutter cut across them. Paint was scraped off my floor registers. Since they never fessed up to any damage they inflicted, I'm now finding new things every day that make me regret my decision to have Western States Flooring install my carpet. What was supposed to save me time has now cost me not only the many more hours of time it will take in repairs, but also the concerns of what damage I may have left to discover. I have no idea how I'm going to fix that door threshold. It's extremely disappointing. I reached out to Western States Flooring with my concerns and showed them pictures. They thanked me for the pictures and said they would forward them to the Customer Care Manager and get back to me right away with next steps. That was a week ago, and I've heard nothing. I guess, like the installers, they don't care. So now I'm writing this review in hopes that it'll warn people like me, who care about their home and take pride in their work, to find another company who shares those values because Western States Flooring doesn't.

I had a tile install scheduled for December 7th - 9th, 2020 with Western States Flooring through Home Depot. They notified me a couple of weeks in advance that the installation would be put off a few days to December 10th - 11th and they would get it done in two days instead of 3. I called on December 8th at 3:46 pm to confirm that our installation was still on schedule for the 10th. After putting me on hold for a few minutes, the customer service rep told me that yes, I was on the schedule for the 10th. I asked if it would still be a 2-day installation. She said yes. The next morning, December 9th, I got a call from Western States at 10:21 am informing me that they would have to reschedule my job again, and the next available time would be December 30th. I was really confused after just speaking with them the day before and expecting them to start the work in less than 24 hours. We were having furniture delivered shortly after the installation was to be completed and our basement has been torn up for weeks waiting for this installation to happen. They said they would have a manager call me, which they never did, so I called back and was told now they couldn't get me in until January 7th, 2021, other people have taken my spot for December 30th now. Somehow, my job, which was literally supposed to take place in less than 24 hours, was less of a priority to Western States than some of the other customer's on their list. I decided to make their life easier since they really didn't seem to want to do my installation. I found another installer, Brian, a former employee of Western States Flooring as it happens, who has a lovely business of his own now. He started the installation on my job the very next day, December 10th. He even charged me $500 less for the labor than Western States and Home Depot. So I guess I should be saying "thank you Western States." Peace.

The work took 2 1/2 days, which was what we had been quoted. The installer was pleasant and we had no problems. We are very happy with the results, and have received many compliments from friends and family. I also appreciate all the help I received from my salesperson/estimator.

"[Member Name Removed], thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience! We truly appreciate it. And thank you for sharing some pics of the install, it turned out beautiful! It was our pleasure to work with you and we hope you enjoy your new flooring!"

While I enjoy reading the reviews posted by others, it is unusual that I post a review of my own.  In this case, however, I feel obliged to do so due to the superior level of service I received from Western States.
The tilers, Jose and Anthony, were perfectionists.  They were meticulous in their measurements as well as the cutting and placement of tile.  They took pride in their work, taking as much time as necessary to get the job done and to do it right -- a characterisitc you don't see often these days.  When they removed the previous tile, they took precautions to help ensure important areas of the house (e.g., kitchen counters) were covered in plastic so as to minimize tile dust, even going as far as to placing large pieces of masking tape over the kitchen sink drain so that dust would not seep into the garbage disposal.
Moreover, the tilers checked the weather forecast and, knowing it could rain, took extra measures to cover items at risk (e.g., treadmill), which had been placed on the covered patio.
The project (customer care) manager, Candido, was at my house daily to check on the status of the job and provide assistance where needed.  His attention to detail was impressive.  The team kept me in the loop as to the plan for the day and even offered to grab food/drinks from the kitchen for me when I was unable to enter the kitchen due to installation.
To be honest, I wasn't particularly looking forward to the job, knowing my life would be in disarray for 1-2 weeks.  While I had to spend the days in my bedroom behind a closed door with my cats and limited provisions, I can honestly say that I enjoyed having the tilers at my house.

Everyone on the Western States' team seemed genuinely passionate about their work.  I looked forward to seeing the big smiles of Jose and Anthony when they arrived every morning, and in spite of the inconvenience, I found that I missed their enthusiasm and "positive energy" after the project had been completed.
Western States made me feel special, and they treated my home as if their own.  From a workmanship and customer service standpoint, I could not have asked for more.
The finished floor looks great!  I am grateful I chose this company for my tile, which I will enjoy for many years to come.

On Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, following the floor installation, the toilet was re-installed with a drip just shy of a steady flow from the tank.  Six hours later when I returned home, the bathroom floor and part of the bedroom carpet were flooded. Two of the new planks had separated.
The installer apparently did not think to place a towel over the carpet tack strip while lifting the strip to avoid the rusted carpet
tacks from popping out and flying into other areas of the home.  The next morning, I discovered the rusted carpet tack
while stepping barefoot on a rusted carpet tack, fortunately without injury.
Paint provided to me by Home Depot for painting the quarter rounds was taken from the site by the installer.
Home Depot told me Friday night I would receive a call back from their flooring associate the next morning.  When I called Saturday morning, the flooring associate did not know of my call the previous day.
The following Monday, Western States Flooring returned the paint, repaired the planks, and completed the toilet installation.
Response from WESTERN STATES FLOORING
"Our goal is to ensure that our customers have a great experience with us throughout their project. As with any type of construction sometimes there are variables we are not aware of. When reinstalling an existing toilet there are times that a leak may develop that we are unaware of as described with this project. The character of a company like ours, is shown by how we handle these situations when they arise. We returned to this home and repaired the issues caused by the leak, and resolved the situation. Additionally we returned the touch up putty material that was mistaken packed up with our own materials the day we left the jobsite. We have reached out to the customer to see if there is anything else that needs to be resolved with this situation, however have not received a call back at this time. We are comfortable stating that we did everything possible to correct the situation and leave the customer with the finished project they were expecting."

  1. After some delay (because my husband was having back surgery) the new carpet was ordered, installed and looks wonderful.  The installation team was efficient, neat and friendly.  Aric Prickett was very involved and helpful in making the situation right for us.  We are most thankful and pleased with Western States Flooring.  We, most definitely, would use them again.

"Called the customer and left a voice message on 4/14/14 at 12:45 PM. We want our customer to be happy with their purchase. If you are not happy with the color please give us a call and we can have you pick a different color and take care of this. I am sorry you were not happy with the sales person. I can tell you the samples in this display are current and not 5 years old. The color you picked is a popular one so none are in the case at this time. Please give me a call at 480-346-4114. So we can assist you in making a new color choice so you will be happy with the flooring that will be in your home for a long period of time. Sharon Nitti"

We found this company through Costco. Overall, the company seem to do a good job. We got a good quality carpet and laminate for a decent price. It may have been a bit more expensive than some other companies. The carpet installers came in first, then the next day the hardwood laminate was installed. My only concern was that it seems the company over estimated the amount of material that was necessary. I had a fair amount of carpet left over. I now have about a box and a half of leftover laminate but I don't know what to do with. When I called back to talk to them about the leftover material, they sent me a check for some of what I had paid. In the end, we probably paid a little bit more than I anticipated but we are happy with the results.

The end result turned out fine, and we are still happy with our choices 1.5 years later.  Their tile guy was great.  They did an excellent job of demo and minimized the amount of mess that the process generates.  The tile install was excellent.  We ran into a little bump with the wood install as I was not happy with the way they planned to manage the transition between the wood and tile.  The tile is pretty thick and was installed on hardi board.  The transition between the flooring materials was more like a trip hazard than a transition.  After some back and forth, the flooring installer put in 1/2 " plywood down before the wood was installed.  This added a couple of days to the process, but was absolutely the right thing to do.  I was a little disappointed that this didn't come up during the estimate, but all's well that end's well.  I also had them install new baseboards wherever the new flooring went.  I guess my only complaint is that they cut the material order to the  absolute minimum.  The were only scraps left of the wood floor, and when they got to the end there is a preponderance of small pieces installed.  On the baseboard, the installers got creative with leftovers to do behind the washer/dryer.  This will have to be redone as it looks terrible.

Everything went very well.  Aric from flooring not only gave me a great deal on the carpet, but their installer Tony was very flexible in working with my schedule.  The carpet is both beautiful and high quality on top of being a great value.  The reason why I gave them a 'B' on quality is because the installers did not sweep up after putting in the carpet.

We picked out the tile.  They were very patient while they waited for me to rip out the original tile.  I removed the old tile my self to save a bunch of money...  When we were ready, they came out, inspected the floor, decided it need to be floated out (the were right on the mark as our floor has always been "off")  A couple days later; and we now have an absolutely Gorgeous new floor.

Across the two years of Western States contract I encountered a variety of underqualified techs who centered on high pressure sales methods that were so focused that service was comprimised. I expressed this to the Management in a personal visit to their offices in the first year. Their response was positive, offering new inspections to replace the 'sales calls'.

The breaking point was this year in June when one of their techs wanted me to sign off after 15 minutes of outside compressor pressure checks, one of which he was unable to accomplish. I told him he had not gone upstairs to check either of the air handlers, and that most inspections included cleaning the airhandler filters. He claimed that he had already checked their performance from outside, using his volt-ohm meter. I told him that was impossible. Begrudingly he said he would clean the filters, but that I would have to reinstall them because he had five more calls to make this afternoon. I told him to leave the premises; that he would not get a signature today.
Meanwhile I called the Western States offices to complain again. It was lunch time and I got a recording. So I called the cell phone of the President. He has always been helpful in getting more attention to details, but this time he was on vacation; offered to correct it soon.
Soon was when the tech returned to my house demanding to finish the job. He was denied; proceeded to yell insults thru the locked door.
After numerous attempts to negotiate with the President regarding the remaining refund value I was denied and offered a pittance. My position is that I tried diligently for two years to get the promised value from my service contract; when I terminated due to poor quality and no service Western States goes back two years and deducts all discounts, reducing my refund to $67. This refusal to take responsibility for promised customer service assures me my action is warranted in terminating them.
Response from WESTERN STATES FLOORING
"This review should have been put on Western States Home Services page, Western States Flooring is our sister Company and has not, to my knowlege, done Business with this customer. That being said, I have spoke with (member) on this matter and have offered him a refund. We do have Policies to follow and they do state we do not offer refunds past 30 days of the initial contract date. I went out of Policy and offered him what I could, it also states: all costs for parts and service rendered prior to the date of cancellation will be applied against the cost of the agreement. These policies have been communicated to Mr. Walters. I have copied our two policies that apply. Cancellation. Either party may cancel this agreement by providing 30 days written notice. Agreement is tranferable to a new homeowner when services is established with the Company. After 30 days from invoice date there is no refund of this agreement. If a refund is warranted by only an officer of the Company, all costs for parts and service rendered prior to the date of cancellation will be applied against the cost of the agreement. Conditions of Coverage. Upon initial visit by technician, system will be inspected for compliance with company criteria. Items determined necessary to bring up to this criteria will be the responsibility and expense of the customer and agreement will not be applicable until criteria are met. If, upon inspection, the equipment covered ceases to meet acceptable standards for continued coverage, all costs for parts and service rendered prior to the date of cancellation will be applied against the cost of the agreement. Any remaining balance will be refunded to the customer. Regards, Eric Seifer Office Manager Western States Home Services 480-346-4147"

My wife and I wanted to replace the carpet in three rooms with the same color and style as in the other rooms. Unfortunately, that style was no longer produced by the manufacturer. But the salesperson was very helpful and accommodating in trying to find a matching carpet. He was also willing to work within our budget and we finally found one we liked.

Once we decided on the color and style, a technician(?) came to our house to measure the room dimensions. He was very professional and courteous. The carpet was installed a few days later. The installer was also very professional and helped conceal some cables that we had running along the floor edges.

Overall it was a good experience and we are happy with the purchase.

I went over to their showroom with a sample piece of carpet that I wanted to get close to.  I talked to John and was able to see quite a few samples of carpet.  I had a layout of the room and he went over it and said I could either get 15 foot wide carpet and have only one seam or 12 foot wide carpet with two seams.  I liked one of the types that was only available 12 foot wide better and he gave me a quick estimate and scheduled an appointment to get exact measurements of the room.  John showed up on time and quickly measured the room (verifying my measurements) but I hadn't marked where the doors and windows are.  There seems to be an art on how to position the seams based on doorways and windows.  Once that was done, he gave me a final price for everything. A couple days later, I called him and started everything rolling.  It took about a week for the carpet to arrive.  Once it did, I was able to set up an appointment a couple days out.  The installers came out on time and did an excellent install.  I could not see any of the seams even though I was warned that you'd see them at first but after a couple vacuums and some walking on it, they'd go away.  The carpet is just what I wanted without any extra hassle or problems getting it.
