I've been going to Kevin for twenty years. They always call me with the estimate and it's always pretty close. Everything is detailed out on the receipt. Kevin, the owner of the shop, doesn't typically give his cell phone number out. He gives it out to what he calls his special customers and obviously, I qualify after all of these years. Usually his office manager calls, but once in a while he will if we haven't talked in a while or he wants to explain something himself. If I ever have an issue, I call him.

I get a good feeling from them. I went to several other mechanics and I don't know if I feel like I can trust them and this is father son business and they are very very busy and I feel like I can trust them. I would use them again in the future.

When they called me and told me it was the radiator they followed up and said...OH AND WE ALREADY INSTALLED A NEW ONE. They had not given my a quote or given me the option of a refurbished radiator since the vehicle was already 9 years old. They just changed it out and expected me to pay for it and the services.

I have been going to Service Techniques for about 7 years with the same car (2000 Honda Accord EX) Kevin the owner has been one of the most trusted repair shops I have ever used. He was originally recommended to me by my daughter some years ago and has been consistently excellent with great value. When you go there do not expect some fancy repair shop and all that, but what you do get is a job well done with a price that is honest and fair.
The great thing about Service Techniques is that you are never ever told you need this or that unless its true.
I will give you an example.
The first time I went in there to have the Honda looked at after traveling across the country from Orlando, Kevin asked if a new water pump had been replaced at 60.000 miles as would be necessary in Arizona. I told him I couldn't remember, after checking he told me a new one had indeed been fitted back in Orlando. It would have been so easy for them just to say I needed a new one and I would not have been any the wiser, great company and will always use them and I recommend them highly.

I found them on Angie's List, and I like them. I have been using them frequently, and I call them every time I have a problem with my car.

I got a quote from them to change my water pump on my 2006 Mazda 6 S. Unfortunately it requires a special utility tool that they didn't have. The tool costs $200 and no shops have it in stock, not even Mazda and needed to be ordered directly from Mazda HQ. Kevin said he had some needs for this tool anyway and maybe it was time to order it. So he told me he will buy the tool and contact me back when it arrives in order to change the part. He said it can take up to 2 weeks to get it though so meanwhile I had to keep putting water in the reservoir for the radiator. I thought it was nice to do it as the dealer charges $725 for the same job vs $250 with Kevin. Honest shops like are too few in the Valley but Kevin wins my business for sure.

I was very pleased with this service on my mother's 13 yr. old car. We previously had spent about a thousand dollars on a leak problem (oil), which then became two different leaks (oil and radiator), neither one getting fixed. The previous service provided by a major name brand chain then either was sold or was taken over by new management. We took the car into this chain service center again but the problem continued. I decided to find another car service provider and chose Kevin Kinnard's business Service Techniques. I didn't ever meet Kevin, but Mike was personable and helpful. His ears really perked up when I told him that I had selected this business from Angie's List. So I hope they get more business as a result of other consumers checking this list.
Mike called the house within an hour or so after we dropped the car off. (Oh, no appointments. First come, first served.) He gave me an estimate which sounded fair, much less than the original expenditure, and said they would have it done in 3 hours. And it was. And it was less than estimated. Not by much, but still....... You don't run into that everyday. And there have been no further leaks on the garage floor. Mom is VERY happy with the service, the price, and the attitude of the management. We will take her car there to be serviced again. And I will take mine there, too.

Kevin and staff have been very knowledgeable, helpful, and efficient. They only make necessary repairs, and I have even had occassions when they told me a repair was not required. This approach has established sincere trust, and my family and I consider Service Techniques to be the ONLY shop for us.

Dropped the car off in the morning and had it back same day. Everyone was really nice. I talked through the issues I've been having with the car and other concerns. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need and I felt comfortable with them.
I've had a problem with they key getting stuck in the ignition, they did something with the shift and it's working well so far!
Definitely will make this my go-to place for anything concerning my car.

I can't believe how wonderfully this experience went. I called yesterday to get a quote over the phone and when Mike told me it would be between $600-900 I thought he was somehow mistaken....that maybe he didn't realize the full extent of the job b/c the previous 4 quotes I had received were in the $1200-1900 range. I got quotes from Fletchers, Big O Tires, Gruelichs, and TMK Automotive. I decided that I would bring it in the next day (today) and let them take a look and give me an authentic quote. Sure enough, Mike gave me a call a few hours after I dropped it off with a quote of $690 plus tax and that was for the full repair kit, not just the compressor. To top that off, they could get to it today! He had it all ready for me by the afternoon and Kevin, the owner and mechanic, even spent the time to educate me on the best way to use the air conditioner for the best efficiency and gas mileage. He is quite the character and loves to joke with his customers. He had me laughing and more importantly smiling that I didn't get ripped off by the rest of the places I consulted. It is quite the happy day when you find a great mechanic who is trustworthy and has reasonable prices too. The work comes with a year warranty.

We took our car to Services Techniques and was warmly greeted by Mike and Kevin. Both of them were very courteous. The front office is somewhat of a museum of old car parts. Very interesting. We left our car for several days as we have another car. They diagnosed the problems, took us to the service bay to meet with the mechanic and discuss the issues and solutions. This was a first for us since it's unusual to be a that involved with what's going on with the car repairs. We liked the special attention.
There was a mix-up in communication and they forgot to fix a rear light. When we came to pick the car up, we reminded them and they took immediate action to fix the light at no charge. They spent a good two hours on the light problem and didn't charge us a penny!
I highly recommend Services Techniques to Angie List customers. We're so happy we finally found a car mechanics that we can trust.

My starter was 12 years old and failing. I had lost faith in my regular garage and based on Angie's List decided to try this auto repair shop. They did an overall review of the car (as is typical of most auto shops). They communicated I did need a new starter, my radiator was cracked, a radiator upper hose was leaking, my engine mounts were sagging, and my struts and strut mounts were bad.
I had them replace the starter, the upper radiator hose, and the radiator. I did not have them do the other work because I had just had the engine mounts and the struts/mounts replaced in Oct 2011 (six months earlier).
I did not get my car back, counting from the day I confirmed the work I wanted done in person, to pick up date, for one week. There must have been 40 cars all around the place in some stage of waiting or serviced and I was told only 4 mechanics to get it all done. When I read Angie's reviews for this shop there was one review that said he waited forever to get his car back. I still gave them a chance but can confirm that I waited forever too. And the day before I picked up they were still not sure if they were replacing the radiator.
I think it is possible this shop is getting so many good reviews it is struggling to handle the volume of cars. In the end though, I had to keep calling Thurs and Friday, one week later, to get somebody to finish my car. In my opinion, if your repair is not emission related you are going to WAIT a while to get your car back.
After these repairs I took my car to Salem Boys (another Angie's list shop) to get a second opinion on my struts. I wanted to know if my struts purchased 6 months ago were a "bust". Salem Boys said my struts were fine and also that all but one of the engine mounts were fine.
I do think the owner is a good guy, that he uses good parts, and his prices are fair. But maybe the mechanic assigned to my car was inexperienced. I wish I could go back to this shop but my experience was not good.

The staff are courteous, friendly, and knowledgeable. The work was completed in a professional manner and the cost were much better than expected. The time required to complete the repairs seemed slower than usual, however they were very thorough and I was impressed that the owner personally drove the car and certified the repairs prior to releasing the car to me. I am very glad I found Service Techniques and will definately use them again.

I moved to the Phoenix area recently and needed a auto mechanic. Thank you Angie's List! Kevin and the guys do great work. When I first walked in, I was 2nd in line behind to young ladies that were there after getting an estimate at a dealer on repairing items to pass emissions. Kevin was able to convince them that they didn't need the work but explained it in a way that made sense to them. Very patient and a good teacher. When it was my turn, I explained what I needed but also indicated that the license plates screws where rusted and wouldn't budge. Not only did he loosen them for free but explained to me how to better navigate the DMV to shorten up my experience of getting my car registered here!!! Overall, outstanding and I will be going back for all my vehicle needs. BTW, don't be alarmed by the "junkyard" look in the front office. After looking more closely and later asking, the used parts hanging on the walls are teaching aids so they can better explain to customers what is wrong and why it needs to be repaired or not repaired!

We brought our van in for an estiamte. Dale explained throughly on what the issues were, and gave us a couple of options to fix the issue along with its pros and cons. Pricing was very ressonbale and work was done on time. Dale and Kevin were also to find a good price on the rotors.
