Crew was very responsible and productive. They came as promised and always left the place as clean and picked up as possible. They gave us daily updates and recommended better options as they worked through the remodel.
Thanks to Eric and Angela for helping us with design and selections, and to their lead staff - Steve, Carlos and Eric R. We appreciate their work ethic and responsiveness to changes.
When we purchased our house in January, we knew that extensive remodeling work need to be done before we could move in. The prospect of paying dual mortgage/rent for many, many months was not a happy one, so certainly we were looking for a contractor who could do an excellent job, for a fair price, and begin as soon as possible. Since we had never done such extensive remodeling, this was a rather new experience for us. Eric made us feel very comfortable right away. With his undivided attention, we were able to get the kitchen and bath designs completed and pick out all of our materials within 3-4 weeks. This included cabinets, flooring, granite, faucets, door style, trim, and almost everything else that went along with it. We could do this because he and especially Angela were so helpful and spot on with their suggestions. By the end of February, we had the cabinets ordered and were excited to get started with the project.
Eric had originally quoted us a timeline of 8-10 weeks starting around the first week of April. To our great surprise, they wound up starting the job a couple weeks early. Omar, our project manager, was amazing. He kept the team on task and always kept us updated on what was going on. The biggest issue we encountered came during demolition. When they were preparing the concrete slab to lay down the tile flooring, it appeared that one section of concrete was from a filled in sunken living room. Unfortunately, when they filled it in, the concrete was actually about a half inch higher than the rest of the room. While there were some slight additional costs to flatten this - a machine rental and half a day's labor - the actual work wound up taking over three days to complete. They completely covered that extra work and I was very grateful for it.
Once the demo was complete, things moved seamlessly from framing, electrical, and plumbing to flooring and painting to cabinet installation. When a few change orders came up, they handled them easily and promptly and in most cases, for free. The amazing thing to me through all of this is that over entire period there was only one day that they weren't at the house and that was because the only remaining work of note was to install the cabinet handles that had not come in. Additionally, they don't subcontract. I can't say enough about the core team. They were there pretty much every day and their attention to detail and commitment to getting the job done right the first time is something you just don't see very often in this business.
Their approach and professionalism translated into finishing the job in 7 weeks (not 8 to 10) and we actually were able to move over a month early. As I write this review, we're still a week away from when I thought we'd be moving, but instead, we have been in the house for almost a month! Lastly, I think the thing that really sold it for me and will make them, as they say, our remodeler for life, is the real excitement and passion for what they were doing. It was clear from the start that Eric, Angela and Omar (and the rest of the team I think) were just as excited as we were to see the whole project come together. It could be due to the scale of the project, but honestly, they're just good people. We never felt like they were being dishonest or hiding things. And while I'd always like to pay less money for things, the price we paid more than represented a fair amount for the work that was done.
Overall, we could not be more happy with the result. As this is an older home, there are probably 5-10 other things on our list. When we get to the next one, Retro Pro will be the ones who do it. You can't go wrong with them!
The staff showed up at 8:30 am every weekday with only a few exceptions. We were notified of those exceptions at least a day ahead. They were very helpful as we were living in the house while the construction was in process. They tried to keep the place livable. They also closed off rooms where they were working with plastic sheeting so as to keep the construction dust down. They cleaned up every evening before leaving.
The trades showed up when scheduled. We did not have many week days where work was not in process.
The time estimate was six weeks, and the actual was five weeks. We love our new kitchen and it is very easy to work there. We were so impressed with this project, we are having them back to remodel the shower area in the master bathroom.
S
Retro-Pro is the best in the business! They delivered on every promise they made and then some;. after the job was finished, we noticed a fine scratch on one of the panes of tempered glass in the shower,. I called Eric about it and the very next day the glass was replaced. They are proud of their Company and they stand by their work . . . and everyone we met at Retro-Pro was a genuinely nice person.
Don't run all over town looking for a company to remodel your bathroom or kitchen - save yourself headaches and money - call the and quot;prosand quot; at Retro-Pro, you'll be happy you did. We are.
We were so pleased with this company's work and results. Eric came to our house and later supplied a detailed estimate of the work and all it entailed. Even though his was not the cheapest bid, we selected them based on Internet reviews, their work at a neighbor's who was very satisfied, and the scope of the estimate provided. Our project manager, Nate, made sure to keep us informed, consulted with us regularly, ensured the site was clean and, most importantly, did top-notch work. Eddie, who did the tile, was also an excellent craftsman. They were always punctual and came when scheduled.
There were glitches in our requirements, but the staff creatively remedied the situation beyond our expectations. Each decision was outlined with options by Nate, including the pros and cons.
We'd definitely recommend them.
Nate was our project manager and (again) this man was outstanding. His assistant Nester certainly complimented Nate and both men were respectful and did their best to keep the other areas of the room/house protected. And when other workers came in to perform special tasks, we did not have to check their work at all, because Nate took care of carefully reviewing the work and having it redone if not perfectly done. Truth be told, my fussy husband was blown away with Nate's work-ethic and attention to detail. It was very obvious that Nate loved his work and was very proud at the end of each day to review what the guys had done, what time the following day they would be back, and/or which of the other workers would be on site the following day.
The outside stucco man would not even come through our home. He said his shoes were dirty and he did not want to mess up our home. He went through the backyard and climbed a ladder to get to our back deck, to perform the exterior work on the house.
It has been so refreshing to find a company with a culture of true customer service. Even before our bathroom was finished, we knew that the other work we had planned to have done would be done by Retro-Pro. The day we had our final walk-thru, we asked Eric and Angela to measure our kitchen cabinets and all our floor tile areas. Work begins after Thanksgiving to reface our kitchen cabinets and replace our tile floors. As with the bathroom, we visited the showroom to select our products and Angela was patient and so helpful as we went round and round to find something that popped for us. And we found it, although it was not what we walked in thinking we wanted. We choose a darker wood as it was so rich looking. We also chose the wood-look tile which was also darker (than our original thought) however the combination was very rich. When Angela and Eric came out to take final measurements, Angela brought the samples so Mike could see it in our own home/light. Again, the right choice. Every person from Retro-Pro is so focused on genuine customer service, and it is obvious they love their work. The results also made it very easy for us to think of other smaller jobs to have done in the coming year.
We will remain members of Angie's list, although won't need to go searching for another contractor. Retro-Pro is our company and the people we will call for any future projects. Thank you very much to Eric, Angela, Nate and Nester, our main team!!
Maricopa Home and Garden Show. I asked
them to provide an estimate for renovating my Master Bath and Guest Bath. I had estimates provided by other companies as
well, but even in the estimation process I observed the integrity and
dedication of the team. After hearing
about the Six SIgma process design, and seeing the processes from the
beginning, there was no question in my mind that RetroPro was getting my business.
With the proficient guidance of Eric and Angela, we put
together a plan for the renovation of the Master Bath and Guest Bath. Eric brought a full team including Production
Manager (Klete), Project Manager (Nate), and Designer (Angela) to conduct a
walkthrough of the work to be done. The
discussions during this session revealed the knowledge, experience, and pride
of worksmanship of the team. I was
struck by the detailed, passionate exchanges ? at one point the subject matter
was about ¼?inch v ½? inch. It was a
pleasure to see so many people who so obviously care about providing superior results.
I received thorough and consistent communication from Nate throughout
the project. I was kept in the loop of
what was planned for each day, and at the end of the day I was updated on the
progress. Each member of the team showed
meticulous attention to detail.
The team members at
Retro Pro are skilled and detail-oriented.
Each team member is empowered by the management of Retro Pro to provide
the highest level of service to the customer, and they do so, every day. I HIGHLY recommend the team at RetroPro for
your home renovation work.
