La-Z-Boy was having a "midnight madness" sale recently, in an effort to clear out last year's merchandise to make room for the 2014 furniture styles. We have shopped at this La Z Boy store fairly frequently over the past 5 years and we usually find something that suits our taste and budget. About 9 months ago, we purchased two wedge shaped end tables to use between our chairs in the living room. We needed a similarly styled, small rectangular table to use at the end of our sofa. We visited La Z Boy that Saturday, not knowing that a sale was in progress. We just needed the table and were ready to buy, if we found the right one. As soon as we walked through the door, we were met by a very aggressive sales woman who grilled us on why we were there and what we wanted. She insisted that we accompany her to her desk, where she could look us up on the computer and review our purchase history. This was unnecessary, but out of courtesy, I joined her (my husband kept walking) and after 10 minutes of researching our name and various phone #'s without result - I got out of the chair and told her to keep looking, but I was going to go find myself an end table. In the past, I have enjoyed browsing through the store, and have found a number of items that I could use, but may not have been specifically shopping for. You would think that would be preferable to shooing someone out of the store once a choice had been made. In the meantime, my husband had found the perfect table, and we decided to buy it - but once we told our saleswoman, she shuffled us off to some other salesman to "do the paperwork", mumbling something about having other customers that she had abandoned so she could help us. The whole experience was disconcerting, and I'm hopingthat it was an isolated incident, due to the frenzy of the sale. We will definitely go back to La Z Boy in the future, because we like their furniture, but perhaps they will review the way customers are handled.
