I decided to buy a home and I did have something in mind. However, as a first time home buyer one is unclear on what exactly is a good home and fit for my needs, and is with in budget. He  took time to explain the overall process when we first met; and took efforts to understand my objectives. He then recommended the type of house I should buy. He was never pushy in house selection or while making an offer. He provided market data, his professional opinion and let me decide. I believe he understands each buyer is different, and guides/supports them to best extent.
Specifically, he really helped with allowing me 1) realtor type access to MLS listings, 2) showing me multitude of houses so I could form my own opinion, and advised on pros and cons of each home 3) advising me outright against not-value-for-money houses, and finally 4) negotiating awesomely on my behalf.  Additionally, he gave me good references for lender, inspector etc. I did my homework and shopped around but I found the lender he mentioned to be best for loan (lowest rates, honest, transparent, efficient).
