"Thank you [Member Name Removed]! We were glad you called us after getting referred by a family member. I Know moving from out of state and not knowing contractors can be a worry. We are happy that you chose us. Enjoy your new floor! Von Payne, President"
Von was very responsive to my questions in between the showroom visit and the start of work even though he was on vacation.
The three man demo crew arrived as scheduled on a Saturday and were very friendly. Their crew leader, Tyson called me every few hours to provide updates on the work which was finished in just a few hours. We were out running errands and had to leave our dog in the backyard and he was very excited and skittish when the crew arrived. During one of his updates, Tyson let me know that he went out to the backyard to say hi to our dog and calm him down which I thought was great. When my wife and I got back to the house after the crew was done we were amazed at how clean they had left the job site. Tile demo is ridiculously messy work and there was some dust, but nowhere near what we were expecting. We were very happy that we wouldn't have to spend days upon days cleaning up dust.
The installation crew arrived also right on time on Monday and were very friendly, but got right to work. The quality of work these two (Eber and Miguel) was just amazing. They very carefully leveled each tile and the cuts they made around door casings and corners are a sight to behold. We had 20 x 20 tile installed with only 1/8? grout joints and there is not a single spot
against a cabinet or wall or around a complex corner where the grout joint is any bigger. They not only did exceptional work, but they were also relatively quick, all the field tile was laid by Wednesday and the grout was done by Friday. We couldn'tbelieve we were only out of our house for one week.
The price which was very fair to begin with was exactly what we were quoted with a very tiny increase on the floor leveling allowance. This is not something Von could have foreseen with the existing tile on the floor so I wasn?t concerned at all about
this. After the work was all done, Von came by to collect the final payment and stayed and chatted for a bit. He is a really nice guy in addition to being trustworthy, honest, and fair, and we?re very glad we hired him and his crew. We had zero issues with the installation but I have no doubt Von would have worked for a win-win solution to resolve anything that came up. I strongly
endorse Von and his crew; we will most definitely be engaging East Valley Floors for our two bathroom projects upstairs.
"We have not worked for (Member name removed) since 2008. We installed hardwood flooring for him, which went smoothly. After a few months there appeared to be a few defective wood pieces, Not installation related. We immediately contacted the Wholesaler of the hardwood, which inspected the floor. It took several weeks to get the wood inspected and have the manufacturer agree to replace the affected hardwood. That took more time than any of us expected. That part of it was out of our control. Once we got the approval to do the replacement work, it took us just a few days to schedule with (Member name removed), replace it and bring the job back to first class. I wish he would provide the same facts & details in his review. (Member name removed) also wrote the Better Business Bureau in 2008, complaining of the defective wood. They investigated the entire matter, and determined we had done a professional job with submitting the complaint to the wood manufacturer, and responded professionally and in a timely manner to the defective wood issue. We have had no complaints from (Member name removed) or communication with him regarding his flooring for 6 years. Respectfully, Von Payne, President of East Valley Floors"
They were reasonably priced, were very thorough and wanted to do a good job. We had some problems with our concrete underneath our floor and they wanted to make sure that was taken care of first. They were very thorough and good about making sure it was done correctly. We got three estimates and they were very reasonable compared to the others.
"This was a 9 - 5 type business that required a carpet repair in an empty room. It was a 2 day partial day job, we gave them a range of time with a two hour window, our crew arrived there at the end of that 2 hour window each day. As the owner, I have implemented a policy where homeowners and the contact person is advised when we will arrive, and emphasize the two hour window of time. Von Payne"
"Buyer states: The owner had bid the job and we had shown him exactly what we wanted. Yet they changed the scope of when when the installer arrived - without contacting the original salesman. This was a labor only job - (buyer provi6ded the tile for the job). Buyer's materials were not in the location promised when the installer arrived. So what the installer had been instructed to do on the work order had to be changed on site due to homeowner having product stored behind miscellaneous items in her garage. She needed several hours to retrieve the tile. Our installers had to return later to do the work. Buyer states: they later tried to bill us extra for fancy "art deco" work which was never a part of the contract. - - If it was not part of the contract and additional work was added by the homeowner, yes, they should pay a fair rate for that extra work. The trip charge request was because the homeowner didn't have the tile available when we arrived. I grant you this job did not go as smoothly as normal. We have put in several new quality control checks since this job to be sure work is done more timely and accurately, and with better supervision. Von Payne President"
"I am the owner of East Valley Floors. The homeowner never expressed any of their frustrations she posted on Angie's list. We addressed a missed area of work the next day after getting notified my installer missed a bathroom (in the back of the house). The homeowner was given a quote and they waited for several days to say they wanted the job done, so they had ample time to shop around. We charge a fair amount. Refinishing flooring can be a very subjective call. A refinished travertine (natural stone) should have a dull look to it - but a consistent gloss. We even did a small countertop clean and refinish on their existing granite Kitchen countertop as a bonus, not part of the contract. I do not want to apologize for poor work. We strive to do our best work each day. If it was done wrong or poorly we fix it immediately. We're not perfect, but will address issues ASAP- If I know about them. We live on referrals and count on happy customers telling their friends. I'm sorry they were unhappy with the work and would do more to make her happy if I had known about it. SIncerely, Von Payne"
