Since we have not had occastion to hire an electrician since moving to Arizona 9 years ago, I had high hopes that this first appointment with Desert Valley Electric would go well. I called to make an appointment, and Larry called me back right away. I told him we had trouble getting our smoke alarms to stop going off. He said if they are 5 years old, then they all need to be replaced. I took his word for it, and made an appointment for the following day. I also asked if he carried a certain light bulb on his truck, because we have overhead light that we could not get working. He said he did carry these bulbs and would look at it. Our appointment window was between 8am and 10am. He said he'd call a 1/2 hour before arriving also. But by 10:30, there was no call and no sign of Larry. Then at 11:00 am, someone else from the company did call, and arrived about 11:30. When we asked him, "What about the 8-10am window for our appt?" He said, he didnt know anything about that. He checked our alarms and said there was nothing wrong with them; probably one of them needs a new battery. (we knew this ahead of time, since all of the alarms are connected). My hope was that an electrician could test the batteries and figure out which one needed to be replaced. However, he went ahead with his work order and replaced them all ($70 for first one, $35 for additional alarms).
Description of Work: Replaced 5 smoke alarms. Our issue was that the alarms started going off for no apparent reason; we tried replacing the batteries, but it's difficult to figure out which smoke alarm is not working well, because they are all connected. I had also requested that he look at an overhead light that was not working. But he did not look at it; apparently Larry didnt tell him about my request. Just another part of this very disappointing first appointment with this company.
