Since we have not had occastion to hire an electrician since moving to Arizona 9 years ago, I had high hopes that this first appointment with Desert Valley Electric would go well. I called to make an appointment, and Larry called me back right away.  I told him we had trouble getting our smoke alarms to stop going off.  He said if they are 5 years old, then they all need to be replaced.  I took his word for it, and made an appointment for the following day.  I also asked if he carried a certain light bulb on his truck, because we have overhead light that we could not get working. He said he did carry these bulbs and would look at it.
Our appointment window was between 8am and 10am.   He said he'd call a 1/2 hour before arriving also.  But by 10:30, there was no call and no sign of Larry.   Then at 11:00 am, someone else from the company did call, and arrived about 11:30.   When we asked him, "What about the 8-10am window for our appt?"  He said, he didnt know anything about that.   He checked our alarms and said there was nothing wrong with them; probably one of them needs a new battery. (we knew this ahead of time, since all of the alarms are connected).   My hope was that an electrician could test the batteries and figure out which one needed to be replaced.
However, he went ahead with his work order and replaced them all ($70 for first one, $35 for additional alarms).

The lights and fans in our master bedroom would not come on. I tried the GFCIs and searched for tripped breakers but couldn't find a problem. I found Desert Valley Electric on Angie's List. Larry was on a job but called back soon after I left a message. He came over within a half hour. He checked out the breaker box and then used a device called aand quot;tunerand quot; to locate a loose hot wire in a switch junction box. Larry fixed the connection, put everything back together and was gone. In less than two hours. His rate was reasonable, he was responsive and competent. We would call him again if we have any electrical needs.

Everything went extremely well. Larry was able to repair the problems, and, even though, he did not have the parts to do the GFIC, he returned on his own to replace and complete the work. We left the gate open, and he locked up after himself. He has not received payment for this last bit of work, but, he will come by to pickup the check. Also, we have additional work for Larry to do, and we look forward to working with him. He is a really nice guy and knows his electricity.

I love the company and the service. Larry, the owner, was always the one who would come out. He was always on time, punctual, and did excellent work. I will be hiring him again and I recommend his service to others.
